Savad Sha, ‘hailed' by men's rights activists, arrested again
THRISSUR: Savad Sha, who was arrested for exposing nudity in KSRTC bus and later greeted by Mens' rights activists when he came out of jail, was arrested again by Thrissur East police on Friday for molesting a woman inside a KSRTC bus. Soon after the reports about the arrest emerged, the victim in the earlier case, came out against the cyber bullying she faced after Savad's arrest in the first incident.
Savad, of Vadakara, was arrested on Friday based on a complaint filed by a woman that she was molested in a Malappuram-bound KSRTC bus on June 14. It was exactly two years ago that Savad was arrested by the police based on a video posted by a woman on social media.
She had alleged that while travelling from Thrissur to Ernakulam, Savad exposed himself inside the tightly packed bus on the move and engaged in lewd sexual acts. The issue became a major debate in the state as men's rights activists supported Savad.
They alleged that she was trying to get followers and taking advantage of the laws. In the latest case, Savad was remanded by the court for 14 days.

DGCA threatens to suspend Air India license over 'repeated violations'
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has warned that it may suspend or withdraw Air India's license after ordering the airline to remove three staffers from crucial operational roles over 'repeated and serious violations' related to pilot duty scheduling and oversight. The regulatory body cited 'systemic failures in crew scheduling, compliance monitoring, and internal accountability' for its swift action. In its June 20 enforcement order, the DGCA highlighted 'systemic errors', saying, 'Of particular concern is the absence of strict disciplinary measures against key officials directly responsible for these operational lapses. These officials have been involved in serious and repeated lapses.' The regulator issued stern warning that 'any future violation of crew scheduling norms, licensing, or flight time limitations detected in any post-audit or inspection, will attract strict enforcement action, including but not limited to penalties, license suspension, or withdrawal of operator permissions as applicable.' Air India has come under growing scrutiny after the June 12 crash of its London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 241 of the 242 people on board and at least 30 on the ground. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is probing the crash. While the DGCA did not directly link its latest enforcement action to the crash, documents seen by HT suggest that the regulator is stepping up scrutiny of the airline. Air India responds Air India said it has complied with the DGCA directive and removed the three officials named in the order 'In the interim, the company's chief operations officer will provide direct oversight to the IOCC,' the airline said in a statement. 'Air India is committed to ensuring that there is total adherence to safety protocols and standard practices.'

Six years on, stolen bike ‘surfaces' at Idukki police station in Kerala
KOCHI: In a case that's as baffling as it is revealing, a motorcycle stolen from Kochi nearly six years ago has surfaced — not on the road, but on the Idukki police station premises, where it has been lying since 2019. Even more surprising: The youth who rode it — arrested that year for possessing 8g of ganja — has now been charged with theft — for the same two wheeler — six years after the incident. It all began in August 2019, when Idukki police nabbed Subijith from Maniyarankudy, near Vanchikavala for allegedly attempting to sell ganja to schoolchildren. Along with the narcotic, officers seized his motorcycle — which remained impounded at the police station — never verified, never claimed. In September 2023, a local court sentenced Subijith to 10 days of imprisonment and fined him Rs10,000. Oddly, he showed no interest in reclaiming the motorcycle — a detail that would gain significance much later. It wasn't until this year, when Idukki police began a routine verification of unclaimed vehicles ahead of a disposal drive that the mystery began to unravel. A basic check revealed that the motorbike's number plate — bearing an Ernakulam registration — was fake. 'Further verification using the engine and chassis numbers revealed that the vehicle was actually registered in Ponnani, Malappuram,' an officer said. That discovery prompted an exhaustive investigation — which confirmed that the bike had been stolen from near the KSRTC bus station in Kochi in 2019. Owner can reclaim vehicle by submitting request: Police 'We contacted the actual owner of the vehicle, who confirmed it had been stolen. Since the theft occurred in Kochi, we referred the matter to the Kochi City police. The owner has expressed interest in reclaiming the vehicle and can do so upon submitting a formal request,' the officer added. Now, in a development no one saw coming, Ernakulam Central police have registered a theft case against Subijith — six full years after the motorcycle went missing. He has been summoned for questioning but denies any involvement in the theft.
