Seoul Mobility Show 2025 to feature transportation beyond wheels
Record-setting 451 companies to participate in Korea's biggest mobility exhibition
The 2025 Seoul Mobility Show will push the boundaries of conventional motor exhibitions by showcasing transportation beyond cars, its organizers said Wednesday.
'The 2025 Seoul Mobility Show will present the most diverse range of products and services in the 30-year history of the exhibition,' said Kang Nam-hoon, CEO of the Korea Automobile & Mobility Association who also serves as the chief of the Seoul Mobility Show organizing committee, during a press conference in Seoul.
'We are looking to present a vision of future mobility through innovation that transcends the boundaries of technology and goes beyond the limitations of land, sea and air.'
The biennial mobility exhibition will bring a record-breaking 451 companies from 12 countries to Kintex, a large convention center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from April 3 to 13. The previous event held in 2023 drew about 510,000 visitors.
Led by homegrown automakers Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis, a total of 12 auto brands are participating in this year's exhibition to showcase their lineups and unveil new cars. In particular, Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD and British luxury sports car maker Lotus will take part in the Seoul Mobility Show for the first time.
Vinssen, an eco-friendly shipbuilder, will display its electric-propelled leisure boat EV002 at the event, while Sambo Motors Group will present an urban air mobility aircraft -- a two-seat electric model designed for vertical takeoff and landing.
HD Hyundai, a shipbuilding and heavy industries conglomerate, plans to debut its new excavator in a world premiere at this year's Seoul Mobility Show. Lotte Innovate, an information technology affiliate of retail conglomerate Lotte Group, will offer test rides of its autonomous vehicle without a driver's seat. LG Group, meanwhile, will introduce its mobility-related businesses such as battery, charging infrastructure and delivery robots.

Seoul shares open higher on extended foreign buying
South Korean stocks opened higher Thursday, set for a weeklong rally, on the back of a foreign buying binge amid uncertainties. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index rose 16.71 points, or 0.57 percent, to 2,923.75 in the first 15 minutes of trading. The KOSPI had risen for a sixth consecutive session to hit a three-year high the previous session. Overnight, Wall Street closed lower amid heightened security risks in the Middle East seen in the United States' plan to partially evacuate its embassy in Iraq and an absence of details on the US-China trade negotiations held earlier this week. High-level officials from Washington and Beijing held talks in London for two days through Tuesday, where they agreed on a possible trade framework that could resolve trade disputes between the two countries. The officials planned to take the matter to their leaders, US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, for approval, but many specifics of the deal still remain unclear. In Seoul, tech behemoth Samsung Electronics shed 0.17 percent, while its chipmaking rival SK hynix jumped 2.6 percent. Top automaker Hyundai Motor went up 1.24 percent and its sister Kia climbed 1.65 percent. Defense giant Hanwha Aerospace advanced 1.99 percent and major nuclear power plant manufacturer Doosan Enerbility soared 5.28 percent. Leading shipbuilders also kicked off strong, with Hanwha Ocean surging 4.41 percent and HD Hyundai Heavy rising 0.48 percent. Samsung Biologics, however, dipped 1.15 percent. The local currency was trading at 1,368.5 won against the greenback at 9:15 a.m., up 6.5 won from the previous session. (Yonhap)

World Youth Energy Tour 2025: Exploring Green Energy Landscape in China
BEIJING, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- From June 4 to 8, 14 international youth delegates from eight countries joined the "World Youth Energy Tour 2025" to visit the CHN Energy's energy projects, namely, Guohua Investment Shandong HG14 Offshore 1GW PV Project in Shandong and Daduhe Pubugou Hydropower Plant in Sichuan. With the trip, they have learnt more about the breakthroughs made by Chinese energy enterprises in clean energy technologies and digital and intelligent transformation. In recent years, offshore photovoltaics (PV) has emerged as a new frontier of new energy industry and development direction for coastal cities to seek "dual carbon" goals, because it doesn't depend on land resources and has higher efficiency in solar energy utilization. In the eastern waters of Dongying, Shandong Province, international youth delegates took a close look at the HG14 Offshore 1GW PV Project site by boat. They were made aware of the cutting-edge technologies employed in the world's largest open-sea offshore PV project. They are amazed by China's bold practices in clean energy development on waters, which integrates "blue energy" with "green economy" in an innovative way. At the "World Youth Energy Partner Dialogue", international youth delegates and energy experts discussed the topics such as the energy transition for clean and low-carbon, international cooperation on renewable energy, and the optimization of the global energy governance system. From global perspectives, they came up the ideas for building a multilateral, technology-driven paradigm for sustainable energy development. During the event, international youth delegates also visited a number of ecotourism attractions, including a wetland conservation area in Yellow River Delta, an ecological farm, and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to learn more about China's ecological conservation effort. The "World Youth Energy Tour" is an international exchange event co-hosted by China International Communications Group (CICG) and CHN Energy. It is organized by CHN Energy Media Center Co., Ltd. and the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies. So far, the event has been successfully held for three years running. The initiative aims to invite international youth delegates to get close to China's energy industry, giving them an opportunity to learn about the high-quality development of China's energy industry as well as explore China's practice of implementing the new development philosophy which features innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development.
