Edwards Dessert Kitchen to close after seven years in Minneapolis

Edwards Dessert Kitchen to close after seven years in Minneapolis originally appeared on Bring Me The News. Edwards Dessert Kitchen will close this month after seven years serving made-from-scratch desserts, small bites and cocktails in Minneapolis. The Schwan's Company-owned restaurant announced its upcoming closure on social media, stating June 29 will be the business' last day. "We're grateful for the incredible support of the community, and we've enjoyed bringing you delicious creations and quality service over the years," the announcement reads. No reason was given for the closure. Executive Chef and General Manager Jasmine Weiser Kaysen has led the North Loop destination since the beginning, with Carmen Steinke serving as head chef. In an Instagram post, Weiser Kaysen said her time at Edwards Dessert Kitchen has been one of the most meaningful chapters of her life. "This place has brought me unforgettable experiences: I met my husband here, made life-long friends, and learned more than I ever imagined," she reflected. "I'm proud of what we built and grateful for everyone who was there with me along the way. While I'm sad to see this chapter end, I'm also looking ahead with hope and excitement for whatever comes next." Edwards Dessert Kitchen is open from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. WPP Media cuts 2025 global advertising revenue growth forecast to 6% on trade concerns

(Reuters) -Global advertising revenue is expected to grow 6% this year, WPP Media said on Monday, lowering its earlier target of 7.7% due to uncertainty over U.S. trade policies. Advertisers are appearing to delay making new commitments to their marketing plans because of the shifting policies, according to a report by the media investment arm of ad group WPP . WHY IT'S IMPORTANT Digital ad spending by companies is a major driver of revenue for Alphabet-owned search giant Google and social media firms such as Meta Platforms, Pinterest, Reddit and Snap. Economic uncertainty is accelerating the adoption of AI tools in ad production and targeting, the WPP Media report said. Meta aims to allow brands to fully create and target ads with its AI tools by the end of 2026, the Wall Street Journal reported last week. Research firm Emarketer recently said companies that rely on traditional keyword-based search ads could lose revenue due to the growing popularity of AI-driven search ads. BY THE NUMBERS WPP Media now expects global ad revenue to reach $1.08 trillion in 2025, with 6.1% growth projected for 2026. Digital advertising is expected to account for 73.2% of the global revenue this year. In 2025, user-generated content will account for a greater share of ad revenue than professionally produced content, the report said. It forecast print advertising revenue will fall 3.1% to $45.5 billion this year, while search revenue is expected to grow 7.3%. CONTEXT WPP Media said brands are expected to prioritize flexible ad contracts, shift budgets toward media placements that reach consumers directly and focus on secure data strategies amid economic uncertainty. The U.S. remains the largest ad market and is expected to grow 5.6% to $404.7 billion, followed by China and the UK, according to the report. Steph Curry's Thirty Ink Generates $174 Million In 2024, 'It's About Creating True Representation And Opportunity From A Grassroots Level'

Steph Curry's house-of-brands conglomerate Thirty Ink generated $173.5 million in revenue in 2024, the company told CNBC on Wednesday. Thirty Ink owns Unanimous Media, Gentleman's Cut bourbon, and Underrated Golf and Basketball. However, the highest percentage of the company's revenue comes from Curry's partnership with Under Armour (NYSE:UAA, UA)). There, the NBA star is president of Curry Brand, a basketball and golf footwear and apparel line. As a part of the 2023 deal with the sportswear company, Curry was given 8.8 million common shares, which were valued at $75 million at the time. The company said that while it incurs annual expenses for using Curry's name, image, and likeness, it doesn't rack up traditional bottom-line operational costs, which allows for its exorbitant earnings. Thirty Ink's secretary chair, Suresh Singh, told CNBC that every brand under the company's umbrella is profitable. "It's completely unique. One of the big things, I believe, is that there's a lot of athlete- and celebrity-driven partnerships and businesses that aren't necessarily focused on profit, aren't necessarily focused on mission. We do both," he said. "Obviously, from a national perspective, a lot of the narrative is trying to peel back programs and opportunities that are programs and resources that are allowing people to have just a fair shot and a fair chance," Curry said in an interview with CNBC. "Everything that we do and what I can control is about true equity. If you look at all of our businesses — our DEI writers for Unanimous, or even looking at something like the Underrated brand — it's about creating true representation and opportunity from a grassroots level." And hopefully that's an example for how our country should," he told CNBC. Thirty Ink's mission is to "elevate the under" according to its website, a goal that manifests differently for every brand. Unanimous Media co-founder and co-CEO Eric Peyton told CNBC that it looks like hiring diverse writers to create projects about family, faith and sports. "[Curry's] vision is to inspire through media," he said. It's really a feeling when you watch our projects, hopefully you're a little bit happier, you know, maybe it makes you feel a little bit better." Unanimous Media is currently four years into a first-look deal with Comcast's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) NBC Universal unit. Next year, it will release its first full-length feature film, "GOAT," with Sony Pictures Animation. With Gentlemen's Cut and Underrated Golf and Basketball, that mission expresses itself as a commitment to DEI. Gentlemen's Cut was in talks with a buyer who wanted to feature Black-owned businesses, in 2024. The Trump administration's crackdown on DEI squashed the deal, but it would have valued the business between $120 million and $200 million, a source told CNBC. Underrated Golf, according to the company's website, is specifically designed to give Black children an opportunity to participate in a sport that hasn't historically catered to them.
