Sarita Vihar flyover in south Delhi closes partially for urgent repair from today

Time of India3 days ago
New Delhi:
Delhi Traffic Police
will close the Badarpur-Ashram carriageway of the Sarita Vihar flyover for urgent repair and rehabilitation work from Friday. One of the busiest arterial corridors in south Delhi will remain partially shut till Aug 8.
According to a traffic advisory, Public Works Department will undertake the round-the-clock repair and structural rehabilitation to ensure long-term safety and maintain smooth traffic flow on the crucial stretch. The traffic police urged commuters to avoid the affected stretch during this period.
To manage diversions and prevent bottlenecks, police have suggested two alternatives. The first route is for vehicles coming from Badarpur Border and heading towards Ashram via Mathura Road.
These vehicles can take MB Road, proceed to Pul Prahladpur and Lal Kuan, then take the right turn towards Maa Anandmai Marg. Passing through Crown Plaza and Govindpuri, they can turn right towards the Modi Mill flyover and turn left towards Mathura Road to reach Ashram.

The movement of heavy and commercial vehicles from Badarpur towards the Sarita Vihar flyover via Mathura Road will be restricted, whenever required, to ensure better traffic regulation and prevent gridlocks.
The advisory also included an appeal for patience and cooperation. Commuters have been advised to adhere to all traffic signage and follow directions from traffic police personnel deployed at key intersections. Emergency vehicles will be permitted through the stretch, but are encouraged to use the alternative routes to avoid possible congestion.

IndiGo expansion: Airline to grow international network, eyes 40% global capacity share with new MRO opportunities

IndiGo plans to continue expanding its global footprint by adding more international destinations, supported by the induction of long-range A321 XLR aircraft this fiscal and newly leased wide-body planes. The airline aims to increase its international capacity share from the current 28% to 40% by FY 2030, according to its annual report for 2024–25. 'We will continue to add more destinations internationally, especially with XLRs coming in along with our newly leased wide body aircraft for long haul operations. From 28 per cent current international capacity share, we are aiming for 40 per cent by FY 2030,' IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said in his message in the report, PTI reported. The airline, which operates around 2,200 daily flights with a fleet of over 430 aircraft, currently holds a 64.5% share of the domestic air travel market. It recently launched long-haul flights to Amsterdam and Manchester using Boeing 787 Dreamliners leased from Norway's Norse Atlantic. The first A321 XLRs are expected to join the fleet by the end of March 2026, followed by Airbus A350-900s in 2027. Alongside international expansion, the airline also plans to 'explore new opportunities in the MRO space as India's infrastructure development is picking up,' the report said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo It is currently setting up a dedicated MRO facility in Bengaluru. 'While macroeconomic uncertainties and operating headwinds such as aircraft groundings and fuel cost volatility remain, IndiGo continues to proactively manage these challenges through fleet diversification, damp leasing strategies and strategic agreements with OEMs,' the report stated. Trump says US and EU have ‘good chance' of reaching trade deal

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that there is a 'good chance' the United States and the European Union will reach a trade agreement. Speaking at the start of a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at his golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland, Trump said that a few key issues still needed to be resolved. 'We've got three or four main sticking points,' Trump said, according to Reuters. 'The main one is fairness especially around cars and agriculture.' Trump has often raised concerns about EU trade policies that he says limit American exports. Talks between US and EU officials have been ongoing as both sides try to avoid higher tariffs. Belgian Grand Prix results: Oscar Piastri beats Lando Norris once again to register sixth win of the F1 season

Oscar Piastri wins Belgian Grand Prix (Image credit: F1) The order on the podium continues to remain unchanged, with Oscar Piastri winning his sixth race of the season at the Belgian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver was followed by his teammate Lando Norris in second, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in third. Max Verstappen, however, missed out on the podium by finishing fourth in his home race at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps. Belgian Grand Prix 2025 highlights Sunday's race in Belgium was delayed by around 80 minutes due to heavy rainfall. The podium finishers were the same as the top three on the grid after Saturday's qualifying. While Norris started from pole, Piastri joined him on the front row in second, and Leclerc started third. All three drivers managed to maintain their positions on the wet track. Talking about his strategy after clinching victory, Piastri said, 'Lively, very lively! I knew Lap 1 would probably be my best chance of winning the race. I got a good exit out of Turn 1, lifted as little as I dared, and yeah. We had it mostly under control from there. I was a bit disappointed with the rolling start as I thought that would take away the opportunity. But when I was that close through Eau Rouge, I knew I was going to lift a little less than Lando. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Proud of my first lap. I had the same plan as Norris if I was second — I knew that was a likely decision for him, but the medium was the sensible tyre for me.' Norris, who started on pole but lost the winner's trophy to Piastri, said after the race, 'Oscar just did a good job, nothing more to say. Committed more through Eau Rouge, got the slipstream and the run. That was it, nothing else I could do at that point. Oscar deserved it today. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Oscar deserved it. I'll review my things, but still happy for the team — another 1-2, and our first 1-2 here in many, many years.
