Trump paves over White House Rose Garden with concrete
The transformation, which includes the addition of garden furniture, has drawn widespread criticism from social media users.
Many online commentators expressed disappointment, describing the new look as 'ugly,' 'devoid of life,' and resembling a 'parking lot.'
Even Grok, the AI chatbot on X, criticized the redesign, stating it turned an 'iconic garden into a sterile plaza.'
Trump's plan to replace the garden with a stone patio, similar to one at his Mar-a-Lago residence, was first reported in February.

Is Trump building a political dynasty?
America has had its fair share of political dynasties – the Bushes, the Cheneys, the Kennedys – but has Donald Trump been quietly moulding his own family to become a political force long after he leaves office? Who from within the family fold could be a successor to the president? Or does Trump simply see the presidency as an opportunity to enrich himself and promote the Trump family brand? In this episode, reporter Rosie Gray paints a picture of Don Jr taking over from his father in politics. Dan Adler introduces us to the younger members of the Trump family, and why, in particular, the ever-silent Barron excites the Maga base so much. And Eric Cortellessa explains why Trump might not envisage a blood relative taking over from him at all – it could be a successful in-law. Fighter jets scrambled to Trump's New Jersey golf course as president's trip interrupted by SEVEN rogue aircraft
Fighter jets were scrambled to President Donald Trump 's New Jersey golf course on Sunday when a rogue aircraft breached the temporary flight restriction zone. The unidentified pilot flew into the airspace above the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster at around 2.50pm and was quickly escorted out of the area by North American Aerospace Defense Command jets, the agency announced. It had to use flares to draw the pilot's attention, but NORAD assured the public the flares 'are employed with the highest regard for the safety of the intercepted aircraft and people on the ground.' The flares also burn out quickly and completely, so there is no danger to those on the ground. The Sunday afternoon incursion marked the second of the day, after three other unauthorized incursions occurred the day before. By Sunday night, NORAD announced that the total number of unauthorized flight incursions while President Trump was spending the weekend at his New Jersey club rose to seven. Officials are now urging pilots to be more careful and to better plan out their trips as it does not appear the pilots had nefarious intentions in breaching the secure airspace. 'General aviation pilots are reminded to verify all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Notice to Airmen and fly informed before every flight,' NORAD urged. It said all of the most recent information can be found at The agency has previously stressed how important it is for pilots to avoid violating temporary flight restriction zones. 'All pilots must familiarize themselves with updates to restricted airspace, including reviewing new and existing FAA NOTAMs that impact their flight plans and activities. 'Adhering to FAA-restricted airspace protocols is mandatory, regardless of geographic region, airframe or aircrew.' The president had spent his weekend at the Bedminster golf club, and returned to the White House late Sunday night. Despite the security breaches, Trump seemed to be in a good mood later in the day as he found out that actress Sydney Sweeny is a registered Republican. Daily Mail asked the president for his reaction to Sweeney's surprise voter registration after he touched down in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Sunday, and the president didn't shy away from his excitement. 'Oh, now I love her ad,' Trump responded. 'You'd be surprised at how many people are Republican. That's one I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that,' he continued. 'If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.' Daily Mail previously revealed that Sweeney registered with the Republican Party of Florida in Monroe County last June, according to public voter records. The reveal comes as Sweeney's controversial advertising campaign with American Eagle sparked intense backlash among liberals who accused it of subtly promoting white supremacy and eugenics. But the controversy led many to leap to Sweeney's defense, pointing out that the reference to 'great genes/ jeans' was a play on words about Sweeney's good looks and the denim line.

Canadian ministers to discuss trade with Mexico's Sheinbaum, The Globe and Mail reports
Aug 3 (Reuters) - Canadian government ministers are set to engage in discussions on trade with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and other government officials, The Globe and Mail reported on Sunday. Canada's Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne and Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand are heading to Mexico City for two days of talks beginning on Tuesday, the report said, citing sources familiar with the planning. The potential discussions come days after both Canada and Mexico failed to reach trade agreements with the United States by an August 1 deadline set by President Donald Trump. On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order increasing tariffs on Canadian goods to 35% from 25% on all products not covered by the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement (USMCA). The White House cited what it said was Canada's failure to stop fentanyl smuggling and a failure to address U.S. concerns about trade barriers. By contrast, Mexico secured a temporary reprieve. Sheinbaum secured a pause on new tariffs coming into effect and a 90-day period to work on a trade deal in a call with Trump. The agreement avoids the 30% tariffs that had been set to come into force on Friday deadline. The pause safeguards the USMCA and means goods compliant with the pact will continue to be exempt from the 25% tariffs Trump imposed earlier this year due to the fentanyl crisis. Reuters could not immediately verify the report. The government of Mexico, Canada's Prime Ministers office and Global Affairs Canada did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
