Groom accidentally calls his bride by his ex-girlfriend's name at the altar in a real life 'Ross and Rachel' moment

Daily Mail5 days ago
Of all the things that can go wrong at a wedding, calling your new husband or wife by the wrong name while saying your vows is probably at the top of the list.
One groom found this out the hard way when he was left mortified after he accidentally called his bride by his ex-girlfriend's name while saying his vows.
Andrew Fildes, 51, and Rebecca Fildes, 46, said 'I do' to one another in a registry office in Bedfordshire in October 2023, after six years of being together.
But nerves got the best of Andrew, as he was 'sweating' and 'shaking' at the altar - so much so that he lived his 'worst nightmare' by calling his new wife 'Sarah', the name of his ex-girlfriend of 15 years.
Rebecca shared video footage of the embarrassing blunder on TikTok, with the caption: 'When your new husband calls you his ex-girlfriend's name', which has now been widely shared.
Lucky for Andrew, Rebecca saw 'the funny side' to the whole ordeal, and burst out laughing when he called her by the wrong name.
She quickly corrected him as he hadn't realised he made such a big mistake during his vows.
Andrew, a property manager who lives in Harlington, Bedfordshire, said: 'It's the worst nightmare saying my ex's name but to be fair it's Rebecca's second name so I got her name all jumbled up when I was talking.'
He described it as a 'real-life Ross and Rachel moment', referring to the infamous episode in the hit sitcom Friends when Ross accidentally says 'Rachel' instead of 'Emily' during his vows.
'I was bricking it and I was standing in front of friends and family trying not to say the wrong words,' he recalled.
'I was just shaking and sweating so I was just trying to get through the ceremony really as I don't like standing up in front of people.
'I wasn't even aware of it when I said it. Rebecca just looked at me and I thought "what have I said wrong" and she corrected me.
'My brother put his hand on his face and my son shook his head and I thought 'I've clearly got something wrong'.
'It's just one of those things but it's quite a common name. Although it's my ex, we've been separated for 10 years.
'I was glad she saw the funny side. She loves to take the p*** out of me for it and it comes up quite regularly. I don't take it too seriously but it's still embarrassing.'
While the fictional wedding ended in disaster, with a fleeing bride, Andrew and Rebecca said theirs 'was still the best day of my life'.
In a TikTok video shared by Rebecca of the moment, she is seen bursting out in laughter right after Andrew calls her the wrong name
Andrew said he 'wasn't even aware' that he had made the mistake until Rebecca corrected him
'It's a real-life Ross and Rachel moment. It's a bit frustrating because we talked about that beforehand as a joke because we're both Friends fans,' Andrew added.
Rebecca, a dog walker who lives in Harlington, Bedfordshire, shared her side of the story and said: 'I was surprised he said it. It wasn't ideal for him to say his ex's name.
'Thankfully I saw the funny side in it and we're still married.
'I just think because he was so nervous he picked up on the Sarah bit [of my name].
'It was a stand-out memory but I'm not sure it's a stand-out memory you particularly want.
'We've got the kind of relationship where I don't think he did that for any reason other than just making a mistake.
'I just laughed it off and we still laugh about it. I keep saying he owes me a proper wedding now where he gets my name right.'
Rebecca's video has been seen more than 37,800 times on TikTok and amused users took to the comments to make the Ross and Rachel comparison.
However, some other users believed that the mistake was a 'big red flag'.
One person wrote: 'Ross and Rachel moment.'
Another joked: 'Ross Geller is that you?'
A third person said they would never let Andrew live it down, commenting: 'I'd be bringing this up for the next 50 years.'
However, others criticised the groom for his blunder.
'That's awful. I would have been so upset,' one person declared.
Another added: 'I would have walked out.'
Others would have taken it further, with one person saying they would have 'cancelled the wedding' as it was a 'big red flag'.

Katie Price's savage reaction to Alex Reid finally REVEALED by pals who divulge details of her calculated next move

ON Monday night, as Alex Reid shocked the world by dropping a bombshell leaked video of his ex Katie Price, friends and family of the glamour icon braced themselves for her explosive reaction. But those in Katie's inner circle tell The Sun they were shocked by her private response to the latest in what they see as a string of attacks from angry exes with an axe to grind. 10 A friend explains: 'We're all really surprised by how calm she has been, as Alex's latest stunt would send most people into a very dark place. 'This isn't the first time Kate's ex husbands and partners have ganged up on her, but the last time it happened, it drove her over the edge and we were all seriously worried about her. This time around though, she is in a completely different place.' In fact, behind closed doors, Katie has made her stance crystal clear to her nearest and dearest. 'Her feeling is, if Alex Reid wants to create a drama to get himself some attention, then good for him,' the pal explains, before admitting that Katie WAS taken by surprise when Alex dropped the explosive video, purportedly recorded in 2020, showing her counting wads of cash in front of daughter Princess while bankrupt. 'You can't silence the Pricey' 'She was blindsided by Alex dropping the clip, she had no idea it was coming, but she is refusing to stoop to his level by coming out all guns blazing as she has in the past,' the friend shares. 'That's what the old Katie would have done, but this time around Katie is in no rush to publicly comment on this latest attempt to bring her down. You can't silence or keep Pricey down for long, but now is not the time for her to have her say. A source close to Katie 'Instead she is doing the sensible thing, she has taken legal advice and is biding her time. She is aware that Alex has threatened to say more about her in the coming days and weeks, but she has been here before many times and is taking it in her stride. 'Katie will have her say at some point, you can't silence or keep the Pricey down for long, but now is not the time.' Indeed, Katie will release her latest podcast episode with her sister Sophie tomorrow (Thursday August 21), and while the world will be listening closely for her to drop some bombs of her own, we're told she actually doesn't mention Alex once. 'She recorded this week's upcoming episode on Monday, before Alex dropped the video, but even if she had known about the video then, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of talking about him publicly at the moment.' Katie Price's ex Alex Reid leaks video of bankrupt star counting cash as he vows to expose the truth about star That said, while Katie may not be taking any public shots at Alex at this time, but she hasn't minced her words about him in private. In fact, in true feisty Pricey style, she's enjoyed making some jibes about Alex's more unsavory moments from their short-lived romance. Katie's drugs jibe The insider reveals: 'Katie has told her friends that does not feel the need to respond to a man who was injecting himself with Harvey's drugs when they were together. 'It's a classic Pricey burn, but at the end of the day, Alex admitted it himself and Katie is still disgusted by the whole thing. Alex insisted it was accidental, but she's always had her doubts and now Alex has come for her again, she's got a few digs in to her mates about that whole incident.' 10 10 10 In 2013, two years after the end of his turbulent marriage to Katie, Alex admitted to using Harvey's hormone medication, Genotoprin, which is used to treat growth disorders in children. Alex insisted he mistook it for his own medication, which was prescribed to treat an injury. "It was an error on my part that I didn't check the label properly. I never expected Kate to place Harvey's meds next to mine. On the face of it, they both looked identical," he said at the time. The men in Katie's life blame her for everything. Katie camp source However, Katie's team were adamant that they were not to blame. Her rep said in a statement at the time: 'Katie and her family have been dealing with Harvey's illnesses his whole life. They don't allow a situation to exist where his medicine could be contaminated by or confused with any drugs belonging to any third party." Indeed, a pal of Katie's adds today: 'Katie still thinks it's outrageous that he tried to suggest it was her fault he ended up taking Harvey's meds. If you are going to admit to something, don't blame someone else. She believes the men in her life blame her for everything." Of course, Alex isn't the only ex Katie has had to bear the wrath of this week. Peter Vs Katie Peter Andre kickstarted a week Katie would rather forget last Thursday night, with a bombshell statement in which he alleged Junior and Princess had been in his care since 2018 'for their safety.' The following night, Katie hit back with a cryptic statement of her own, where she talked about 'saints and sinners' in this messy feud. While she didn't mention Pete by name, she admitted she had been a 'sinner' who had made mistakes, but claimed there were 'fake' saints who 'played the victim' and 'needed a villain' to succeed in life. Katie Price's relationship history We take a look back at the highs and lows of Katie Price's relationship history. 1996-1998: Katie got engaged to Gladiators star Warren Furman - aka Ace - with a £3,000 ring. But their relationship didn't make it as far as 'I do'. 1998-2000: Katie described Dane Bowers as 'the love of her life' but she broke up with the singer when he allegedly cheated on her. 2001: Footballer Dwight Yorke is the father of Katie's eldest child Harvey. He has had very little to do with Harvey throughout his life. 2002: Rebounding from Dwight, Katie famously had one night of passion with Pop Idol star Gareth Gates, allegedly taking his virginity. 2002-2004: Katie was dating Scott Sullivan when she entered the jungle for I'm A Me Out Of Here!. He threatened to "punch Peter's lights out" when chemistry blossomed between her and Peter Andre. 2004-2009: The jungle romance resulted in Katie marrying Aussie pop star Peter. They had two kids, Junior and Princess, before their bitter split in 2009. 2010-2011: Fresh from her break-up with Peter, Katie enjoyed a whirlwind relationship and marriage with cage fighter Alex Reid. They split 20 months after their Las Vegas wedding. 2011: Katie briefly dated model Danny Cipriani... but it ended as quickly as it begun. 2011-2012: They didn't speak the same language, but Katie got engaged to Argentinian model Leandro Penna in 2011. He later fled home to South America. 2012-2018: Wedding bells rang once more after Katie met Kieran Hayler in 2013. They had two kids together, Jett and Bunny, before their break-up and divorce. 2018-2019: Katie moved on quickly with Kris Boyson. They had an on-off romance for one year and even got engaged. They split for good in 2019. 2019: Katie was linked to Charles Drury during her on-off relationship with Kris. Charles, who also dated Lauren Goodger, has always denied being in "official relationship" with her. 2020-2023: Car salesman Carl Woods took a shining to Katie in 2020. Their relationship was up and down for three years. They broke up for a final time last year. 2024-present: After weeks of rumours, Katie confirmed her relationship with Married At First Sight star JJ Slater in February this year. Despite the fiery nature of her response, however, we're told that will also be Katie's final word on Pete… for now. Another source close to Katie confides: 'Kate will not discuss any specifics with Pete on this week's podcast either. She said what she said last week, but her plan now is to take the high road. 'The mask will slip' 'As far as she is concerned, Pete is desperate to portray himself as something he is not. But Kate is confident Saint Peter's mask will always slip.' Indeed in recent months several old clips from Katie and Peter's old ITV2 reality shows have been doing the rounds on TikTok, which Katie fans claim show Pete putting her down. 10 In one he refers to her as a 'slut' while talking about her alter ego Jordan, while in others he makes fun of her bedroom skills and points out that she has spots on her face. Pete forgets everything was caught on film and he was emotionally abusive to Kate for years. A friend of Ms Price Peter's camp have claimed the resurfaced videos are heavily edited with certain lines removed and insist they have bee taken out of context, but those close to Katie refute this. 'Peter forgets that everything was caught in film and he was emotionally abusive to Kate for years - it's desperate to claim he only looks bad because of editing. "After all the filming was heavily controlled by Pete's management and the producer, who was his manager Claire Powell' s ex-partner, Neville Hendricks.' Courting trouble In 2015, Hendricks sued ITV after his company's contract to produce reality TV shows centred around Peter, as well as Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona, was cancelled in 2011 following his split from Claire. Peter gave testimony in which he claimed he feared for his family's safety after Hendricks made 'death threats' towards former partner Powell, who still manages Andre to this day - but judge Mr Justice Flaux said he 'completely disbelieved' Peter's evidence. And Katie's pals still cite this when discussing their pal and Pete's relationship. 'The High Court found that Peter was not an honest witness and made false claims 'designed to show himself in a good light',' a friend points out. 10 'This is what Kate has had to deal with for years - a deliberate attempt to make her look bad so Pete could be the Saint.' 'Everyone who knows and loves Katie believe that the judge's comments, plus the clips of him on their old reality shows, give everyone a glimpse of what they feel is the real Pete - his true colours, if you will." Pete and his management deliberately tried to wind Kate up for years and she would fall for it and react. Now she just shrugs her shoulders and smiles about Saint Peter trying to get her to bite…'

Awkward clip of Tom Brady flirting with 'beautiful' NFL reporter on Zoom emerges

A clip of Tom Brady complimenting a female reporter's hair before asking her where she is has emerged, with her seemingly posting the clip on TikTok before deleting it when it went viral. Brady gave an interview to Morgan Alston and Bleacher Report that was published back in June. The NFL great spoke to her over Zoom, discussing his own career in football, the athletes he admires and life after retiring in 2023. But earlier this week, Alston shared an outtake of Brady complimenting her appearance before the interview began. 'Morgan, I love your hair,' Brady says to her, where a producer is also seen on the call. 'Beautiful.' Alston was clearly thrilled with the compliment, responding: 'Thank you! It's a lot to deal with. When it's a good day, it's a good day. A lot to maintain.' Brady, 48, laughed and replied: 'Thatta girl. Where you at?' Tom Brady left this ESPN reporter blushing after complimenting her hair during a meeting — FearBuck (@FearedBuck) August 19, 2025 Footage of Tom Brady complimenting Morgan Alston on her 'beautiful' hair has surfaced Alston, believed to be around 25, tells Brady she is in Philadelphia before the clip ends. The kind words from Brady clearly meant something to Alston on a personal level. She posted the clip on TikTok earlier this week with the caption: 'To everyone who made fun of my hair growing up, wellll at least the TOM BRADY likes it.' Alson hasn't commented on precisely why she later deleted the post but it quickly surfaced across social media, with many interpreting Brady's remarks as a cringeworthy attempt at flirting. ''Where you at' bros sending the jet as we speak,' said one social media user on X, while another wrote: 'Tom Brady is going in for the kill.' Another observer commented: 'Man, Tom Brady's out here flirting on Zoom like he's still in the locker room. Does he think this is a dating app or what?' Others thought Brady came across well. One wrote: 'Brady is smooth. Still got game.' Earlier in the summer, Brady was linked romantically with Sofia Vergara after the seven-time Super Bowl champion was pictured sat next to the actress at Jeff Bezos' wedding. But Daily Mail reported in July that Brady didn't see a future with Vergara and had even allegedly said to friends that at age 53, she is too old for him. And recently, Brady was in the spotlight after seemingly taking a shot at his ex-wife, the Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, through a weekly newsletter that he has started writing. The couple announced their split in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage, amid Bundchen's open frustration at her legendary quarterback husband 'unretiring' from the NFL. 'Obviously, I have my concerns - this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,' Bundchen told Elle in September 2022. 'I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. 'But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for them. He needs to follow his joy, too.' In July, Brady wrote in his newsletter: 'I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family. I chose to do it by playing football.' 'Remember, your children are watching everything. They see what you do in every aspect of your life and how you do it. 'Reading bedtime stories and helping them with homework are not the only ways to be a great parent. And neither is winning Super Bowls or MVPs. 'Being a great football player didn't make me a great dad, but how I became a great player certainly had an impact - from showing up day in and day out, to doing whatever it took to get better, be successful, be a role model, and to provide.' Brady is a little over two weeks away from the return of the NFL season, which means he'll be back in the commentary booth for Fox on year two of his 10-year, $375million deal as an analyst.
