Mum's 'nightmare' ordeal after Hertfordshire Police Marcin Zielinski steals her underwear
A mum has told of her months of emotional distress after a police officer stole her underwear from her drawer.
Marcin Zielinski, 27, was captured on camera rifling through Lea-Ann Sullivan's drawer to grab a pair of pants and slip them into his back pocket. The former Hertfordshire Police officer was jailed for four months on Monday after he admitted one charge of theft and a charge of corrupt/improper exercise of police powers and privileges by a constable.
The offence happened on September 12, 2024 and Mrs Sullivan has experienced distress and sleepless nights for nearly one year since. Speaking last night, the mum of two said: "I think I've cried, I've laughed, I've been angry. I feel vulnerable, feel scared. I just think I feel sick about the whole situation.
"I'm constantly thinking, what did he want them for? Why did he take them? What's he going to do with them? How many more people has he done it to?"
Zielinski quit his role at Hertfordshire Police during the investigation into the theft, which happened when he was carrying out a Section 32 search at a home. During the night of the incident, Mrs Sullivan was arrested in connection with an unrelated matter and was later released with no further action taken.
Cambridge Crown Court heard on Monday how Zielinski brazenly went through the drawer in the bedroom Mrs Sullivan shares with husband Grant. Grant first discovered the ring doorbell footage when his partner was in custody.
And now Mrs Sullivan's trust for the police is at an all-time low. Speaking to the Daily Mail, she continued: "Once I found out he had taken them, every time I looked into that drawer the video played back in my head... I would never have let him into my home if he was not a police officer and he has completely misused his position and trust to facilitate his own habits."
Mrs Sullivan said she had to identify her underwear in a police parade in front of other officers. She was shown 15 pairs of knickers said to have been found in Zielinski's home in Shefford, Bedfordshire - but hers weren't initially among them.
The horrified mum has since got rid of all her underwear and the chest of drawers as it became a constant reminder of the harrowing video. She believes the sentencing has offered some "closure" but feels as though Zielinski should have received a longer jail term.
"I don't think [his sentence] is long enough, but I'm all about teaching someone lesson... I do think he does deserve to see the law from the other side. He can't just have the power trip to get away with it," Ms Sullivan added.
"What about the people who can't fight for themselves, that are elderly, that are vulnerable. What if that's a disabled lady... Or what if he takes it to the next level. Look at Wayne Cousens, he started flashing and he's killed a lady."
Hertfordshire Constabulary Assistant Chief Constable Genna Telfer said: "Zielinski has let down the public of Hertfordshire, the police service as a whole and his former colleagues, who act with professionalism and integrity.
"His criminal behaviour damages the reputation of policing and represents a fundamental betrayal of the public and the values for which the police service stands."

Humza Yousaf issues warning over hotels housing asylum seekers
Earlier this month, former immigration minister Robert Jenrick wrote a piece in the Daily Mail, headlined: "I care more for my daughters' safety than the rights of foreign criminals. That's why I support every peaceful protest outside an asylum hotel". The statement comes as the UK Government is working on contingency plans for housing asylum seekers after a court ruled that they should be removed from a hotel in Epping, Essex. Ministers are now bracing for further legal challenges from councils across the country. In a direct response, Yousaf said that "as a father of three girls," he fears "predatory men who come in every colour," when it comes to their safety, and that the Tories are "deliberately trying to fuel hatred" through fear. READ MORE: Police probe 'kill 'em all' banner outside Scottish asylum seeker hotel Jenrick also told the Telegraph this week that he wanted 'every single illegal migrant in this country' to be deported, and that included not only those arriving on small boats, but also those who have arrived in lorries or claimed asylum after landing at airports. In the video posted to Instagram, Yousaf did not name Jenrick but shared an image of the Daily Mail article, and hit out at his rhetoric around asylum seekers, warning that it fuels division and puts vulnerable people at risk. 'The Tories are telling us that we have to protect our children from asylum seekers," Yousaf said. "Well, as a father of three girls, let me tell you that it's not asylum seekers I'm worried about when it comes to my daughter's safety. It's men, predatory men who come in every colour, every religion and from every background.' He stressed that those who commit crimes must face justice, regardless of background, adding: 'Of course, those who do commit heinous crimes against women, be they asylum seekers or those who have lived in the UK for 10 generations, they should and must feel the full force of the law. 'But when you purposely single out asylum seekers, as the Tories are doing, you're not interested in protecting women, you're deliberately trying to fuel hatred. You're reviving the old colonial lie that people from the east are somehow dangerous savages.' Yousaf warned of the consequences of such rhetoric, citing previous instances where "peaceful protests" developed to setting hotels housing asylum seekers on fire, like in -" 'This isn't just rhetoric. We've seen exactly where it leads. It turns fear into mobs who are ready to set fire to hotels that are housing asylum seekers. It leads to bricks through windows, it leads to firebombs aimed at vulnerable families who've already fled war and persecution.' READ MORE: Israeli-owned Rosebank oil firm reveals profits doubled in last six months He added that violence against women is a universal issue, not one tied to asylum seekers and warned against falling for the "oldest populist trick in the book". "And here's the truth. Violence against women is committed by men from every walk of life. Blaming asylum seekers doesn't make women safer. It just makes society more divided, more suspicious, more willing to turn on the most vulnerable. 'What the Tories are doing isn't about women's safety. It's about stoking fear. It's the oldest populist trick in the book. Let's make sure we don't fall for it.' The latest Home Office data showed there were 32,345 asylum seekers being housed temporarily in UK hotels at the end of March. This was down 15% from the end of December, when the total was 38,079, and 6% lower than the 34,530 at the same point a year earlier. New figures – published among the usual quarterly immigration data release – are expected on Thursday, showing numbers in hotels at the end of June.

STRICTLY star Chris Robshaw's stalker called in bomb threats and 'threatened reporting him to social services' - with the star 'terrified he'd lose his kids'. The Sun told how Chris had called in police after a terrifying campaign of harassment by a female stalker. 4 4 4 The woman, who The Sun is not naming, now appears on the National Police Wanted List. She is understood to have left the country and is being sought by cops. Those close to Chris previously revealed his ordeal started last July when he attended the same event as the woman. A representative for Chris told The Sun: "This is an ongoing police investigation, and therefore we are unable to comment at this time. "Chris will not be commenting further.' According to Daily Mail, the 'violent' stalker's actions have included threatening to spread lies about Chris and his wife, Opera singer Camilla Kerslake to social services. A source told the publication: "One of the most terrifying things has been the suggestion that her lies could get their kids could be taken away - it's left them shaken to the core." The source also said: "This isn't just someone making empty threats. "According to other victims, this individual has allegedly set fires, made bomb threats, and has even threatened to blow up children at their schools. While a source previously told The Sun: 'It's been absolutely terrible for Chris and Camilla. 'He met this woman twice, very briefly, during work events and then she started telling all sorts of awful lies about him. 'He was never alone with her and they barely spoke so he's got no idea why she targeted him. 'The stuff she was coming up with was farcical. She then started calling companies Chris and Camilla were working with to tell them these made up lies. "She is intent on trying to ruin Chris and Camilla's life. Her other victims are said to have struggled professionally, financially, and mentally. 'Chris warned police the minute his children were put into danger. "This woman posted their address online and made really nasty threats against him and his family.' Those close to Chris - who is set to star in this year's Strictly - said the BBC are aware of the ongoing issues and are supporting him. A friend said: 'Chris almost turned down Strictly because of what this woman has been putting him and his family through. 'She's made some disgusting threats. It has been awful for them. 'Chris and Camilla have been told by the police they're not alone. This woman has form for what she's been doing to them and has done it to other people too. 'Chris and Camilla are just the latest victims in a string of lives she's tried to destroy. 'He only went ahead with Strictly for his son Wilding. 'He told his dad: 'I want mummy to laugh at your dancing'. So Chris bit the bullet and went for it. 'He was honest with the BBC from the start and they've been amazing. 'They are supporting him and are aware of everything that is going on.'
