A popular Killin restaurant has reopened with a new face at the helm.
The River Inn has replaced the Capercaille on the village's Main Street.
New manager Marius Boncota is bringing a taste of Greece, serving up mezze platters, chicken and lamb skewers, beef kokkinsto and more.
The 60-seater restaurant also has three rooms for guests to stay in.
Since moving to Scotland in 2010, Marius has been a frequent visitor to Killin.
He said: 'I loved the village and surroundings. I came in this place, the Capercaille, I came for lunch and I liked everything.
'Obviously I started to chat with the people working here.
'One day, a lady working here, as a joke, said: 'Don't you want to buy it? It's up for sale'.' As well as Greek food, pasta and burgers are on the menu. Image: Isla Glen/DC Thomson
Having recently opened The Pictures Restaurant in Coatbridge, it was the last thing on his mind.

Marius, who is Romanian but grew up in Greece, said: 'It's been very good so far.
'I was afraid at the beginning that being a small village with a strong community that we'd be seen as outsiders, but they were very welcoming and really embraced all the changes.' Hopes of a 'good future' in Killin
The River Inn hopes to give back to the Killin community as much as possible.
All donations for using the restaurant's toilets will be distributed to local charities and the team will also lend a hand to fundraise for projects, such as at the McLaren Hall.
'Going forward, we're looking at integrating as much as possible in the community and do as much as we can for the village,' Marius said.
The 41-year-old also feels it is important that tourists have a place to eat.
Marius said: 'Killin can be a very busy place with tourists and if the tourists are coming and they don't find the facilities, I think they won't come back or they won't consider staying too long.' He plans to sell 'grab and go' items – such as coffee, cake, ice cream and ready-made sandwiches – for those stopping to visit the Falls of Dochart.
Marius added: 'I think we've got a good future here and it's going to be good for the village.
'Not only this village. We've had people coming from Strathyre, Crianlarich, Tyndrum, so people are starting to hear about us.'
The River Inn is open from Wednesdays to Sundays, 12pm to 9pm.
Elsewhere, a popular Callander café has reopened with a local family at the helm.

Tony Exall was on a jungle tour near West Papua, Indonesia, on May 22 when his left eye began to irritate him. The 58-year-old blamed it on sweat or a tiny bug but two hours later a fellow visitor spotted that he actually had a leech on his eyeball. A horrifying photo shows Tony's bloodshot eye with the small black bloodsucker latched to the white area called the sclera. Tony grew concerned it might wriggle its way behind his eye so ended his trip early to find medical help. ‌ ‌ After eight hours and trips to two hospitals a doctor extracted the leech using tweezers - despite the creature pulling on his eyeball tissue to hang on. Tony, who owns travel company Philippine Dive Holidays, was in Indonesia to test out locations for customers when he decided to head on a photography trip. The travel agent avoided catching an infection and achieved his aim of snapping a rare king bird-of-paradise minutes before the incident. He posted the video to Facebook where users described it as 'stuff nightmares are made of' and like 'something from a horror movie'. Tony, from Oxted, Surrey, said: "I came over here to investigate different places to work with in Indonesia so I thought, while I'm here, I want to do a bit of bird snapping. "We were waiting for the bird to turn up and I was sweating buckets. I could feel something in my eye but I just thought it was a bug. I tried to get rid of it but couldn't so I tried to ignore it. "There were leeches everywhere and I must have used the back of my hand to wipe the sweat so I essentially wiped it into my eye. A couple hours later we went to move on to somewhere else and one of my spotters pointed out the leech in my eye. ‌ "My biggest concern was that it would get round the back of my eye. He tried to pull it out with his fingers. He was pinching my eyeball to get it out but the leech was fixed onto my eyeball. I tried rubbing it but I couldn't get it out." Tony had trekked two hours through the jungle near Malagufuk, West Papua, to reach an area known for king bird-of-paradise sightings. ‌ After having the leech pulled from his eye, Tony was prescribed eye drops and antibiotics to make sure he didn't develop an infection. Tony said: "We went to two hospitals to find someone that knew something about eyes. At first he tried to remove it and that was quite sore because a leech grabs hold of something and starts to suck the blood. "He started to gently pull the leech which was quite sore as it was something pulling on my eyeball. "My next concern was how do you get it off my eye without leaving anything behind. You hear these stories about tropical diseases and infections and having one in your eye is not the best place to have one. ‌ "The doctor then squirted some anaesthetic drops onto my eye, got some tweezers and pop, off it came. The tissue of my eye was being pulled. I have never had that sensation before." After sharing the 'squeamish' photos of his eye on Facebook, freaked-out users were quick to comment on his bizarre experience. One user said: "I'm not usually squeamish but that is stuff from horror movies! Hope everything is okay now." Another added: "Omg you need a trigger warning on this post. Sounds awful, hope you recover quickly." A third said: "Stuff nightmares are made of." A fourth added: "Dangerous stuff, this photography."

Hop across the Adriatic from Venice and you'll find Trieste, a unique border town that you've probably never heard of — but one you're going to want to add to your city break list. While Trieste was once forgotten, hidden away in northern Italy and even described as a 'nowhere place', times have changed. Almost entirely surrounded by Slovenia, Trieste is a melting pot of cultures. The local dialect, according to Lonely Planet is a 'strange melange of Italian, Austrian-German, Croatian and Greek.' Ever since Slovenia's star began to rise, tourism in Trieste has also picked up. There's a thriving food and arts scene, and trendy hotel chain, 25hours, is set to open in the city this year. Trieste is influenced by its culturally rich neighbours (Picture: Metro) How to get to Trieste Easily accessible from the UK, Trieste has an airport about 40 minutes outside the city centre. Direct flights run from London Stansted, with one-way Ryanair fares starting from £17 in July (that's based on taking the 7:35am flight on Tuesday, July 8). Best of all, the journey time is two hours. The only downside is that at the moment, direct routes are only operated out of Stansted. You can also fly from Gatwick, but that generally involves stopping in Rome or Krakow. What's the weather like in Trieste? As you'd expect from an Italian city, Trieste has a Mediterranean climate, with warm summers and colder winters. The best time to visit is during the summer, from June to September. It's said that locals like the wind because of the intense emotion it sparks; when it's a calm day, they long for it to return. Italians, eh. Where to stay in Trieste Travelling in the shoulder season, in May or October, is a good idea if you want to nab a bargain hotel stay and run into fewer tourists. prices for a 3* hotel, rated 'very good' or above, from £73 per night in September. Things to do in Trieste Any trip to Trieste should start with a wander through the historic centre, which has interesting shops and quaint cafes. This area is also home to the city's top cultural attractions, including the cathedral and the waterfront Piazza Unità d'Italia, which is said to be modelled on Venice's St Mark's. In a way, it might be even more beautiful, and is the largest square overlooking the sea in Europe. Stazione Rogers is an abandoned petrol station that swapped unleaded for aperitifs, and is now a thriving cultural centre. As well as being the perfect place for sundowners overlooking the water (with DJs and live music until 2am) there's also a space for art exhibitions and gigs. There's a Joyce museum, and the Literature Trieste Museum is also set to open this year. Or, head to a book shop and while away a few hours reading with a coffee. San Marco is a popular spot. For views that stretch across the sea, visit the Faro della Vittoria, a lighthouse which is open to the public (for free). Every October, the Barcolana regatta sees the waters fill up with sailing boats. Tourists should also take a trip to the must-visit fairytale castle, Miramare Castle, which sits atop a rocky cliff. From panoramic views to subterranean marvels, the Grotta Gigante is a vast underground cave about 20 minutes outside of Trieste. One of the chambers, the Grande Caverna, is 98.5m high, and 76.3 m wide. Visitors can take tours all year round. If you have enough time, you can also take a day trip over to Slovenia, and visit Lake Bled, which is less than an hour's drive away. Food and drink in Trieste Don't book a flight to Trieste expecting only to eat pizza and pasta. We know, this is Italy (and of course, you can order it here) but the influences of its surrounding nations have had a big impact on how the Trestines eat. Buffets are a big thing here, a tradition which harks back to when the city was under Austrian rule. Think cured meats, smoked sausages and cheese. It's said you haven't really been to Trieste unless you've indulged at a buffet. Jota is also a popular local dish, essentially a Slovenian soup made with sauerkraut, potatoes, and beans – often with added pancetta. Seafood is also a favourite. You're likely to spot sardine dishes on the menu, but it's always worth asking about the catch of the day. And of course, you can wash your meal down with a grappa – the notorious liqueur which hails from the north of Italy. If alcohol isn't your thing, Trieste is Italy's biggest consumer of coffee (and gets the crown of Italy's 'capital of coffee') with the famous brand, Illy, hailing from the city. But, make sure you know what you're ordering. In Trieste, an espresso is a 'nero' and a cappuccino is a 'cafelatte'. And make sure you ask for it in a glass – locals say it tastes better that way. How expensive is Trieste? According to Budget My Trip, you can expect to spend about £88 per day in Trieste, covering food, drink and activities. Trattoria alla Sorgente, a seafood restaurant popular with locals, lists its price range as around £22 – £44 per person. For the all important buffet, Buffet Da Pepi has been serving hungry customers since 1897. For one person, a mixed charcuterie platter is just €8 (£6.85). Attractions are affordable too. Tenement refurbishment completed in Glasgow's West End

West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) has finished extensive repairs at 90-94 Park Road in the Charing Cross area, forming part of its broader investment plans for former Charing Cross Housing Association properties, following the transfer of nearly 500 tenancies in 2022. Karen Shaw, director of development and asset management at WSHA, said: "I am delighted to see the completion of the major repair work at Park Road. "To maintain and repair historical listed tenemental buildings can be expensive and challenging, particularly in mixed tenure blocks. (Image: Supplied) "But by obtaining owner buy-in through regular engagement and consultation, and with funding support from Glasgow City Council, we have been able to greatly improve the condition of the building, preserve its heritage, and extend its lifespan for the residents and future generations to live in and enjoy." The block, located within the Woodlands Conservation Area, is a C-listed building featuring stonework in the style of Alexander "Greek" Thomson. The project included re-roofing, chimney head repairs, stonework restoration, and replacement of rainwater goods. Work was carried out by EBS Construction Limited, with Mackie & Co. overseeing the project as contract administrator, principal designer, and quantity surveyor. The scheme was completed on time and within budget in March, at a total cost of £342,746. WSHA covered 41.77 per cent of the cost, totalling £143,165. Each owner in the building received 50 per cent funding support through the Private Sector Housing Grant from Glasgow City Council. Ms Grace, WSHA tenant and resident at 92 Park Road, said: "The quality of workmanship for the renovation is exemplary and the attention to detail is notable. "The close decoration is of a very high standard, as is the pointing on the sandstone. I'm delighted with the result." James Mackie, managing director of Mackie & Co., said: "The challenge in this project was to return the tenement to a finish in keeping with the conservation area and return properties to a weather-tight condition so that they require only routine maintenance over the next 40 years." Kathleen Leitch, private sector housing grants officer for GCC, said: "The refurbishment of the Park Road properties is exemplary of the kind of partnership working the council is keen to promote in working with the owners of mixed tenure pre-1919 tenements to help preserve the built heritage within Glasgow."
