NBA Trade Idea Sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to Rockets in Three-Team Deal

Yahoo12-05-2025

If Giannis Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, Sam Vecenie of The Athletic proposed that the Houston Rockets acquire the future Hall of Famer in a three-team deal.
Vecenie proposed the following trade idea between the Bucks, Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers:

Bucks get: Amen Thompson, Jalen Green, Cam Whitmore, Donovan Clingan, 2025 first (via Phoenix), 2027 first (via Phoenix), 2029 first (most favorable of Milwaukee, Portland or Washington), 2028 and 2030 Milwaukee swap rights extinguished
Rockets get: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jerami Grant
Trail Blazers get: Alperen Sengun, Jock Landale
Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Monday that Antetokounmpo is open to leaving the Bucks, who have won only one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games.
The Bucks signed Antetokounmpo to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023. Antetokounmpo, 30, will make $54.1 million next season.

The Rockets made the playoffs this year for the first time since 2020. They lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round in seven games.
Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. The superstar swingman has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks.

Antetokounmpo doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Athens native has made no firm decisions yet about his future.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander bold predictions for 2025 NBA Finals vs. Pacers

The post Shai Gilgeous-Alexander bold predictions for 2025 NBA Finals vs. Pacers appeared first on ClutchPoints. The NBA Finals matchup is set as the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers are the last two teams remaining in the NBA Playoffs. Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers took down the New York Knicks in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals, and MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in just five games during the Western Conference Finals. SGA and the Thunder and heavy favorites in this series, but Haliburton and the Pacers are used to being the underdogs. Advertisement Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the best player in the NBA during the regular season, and he was awarded his first MVP just a couple of weeks ago. He hasn't skipped a beat during the playoffs, which is why the Thunder have cruised all the way to the NBA Finals. The playoffs are a different beast in terms of intensity and defense, but SGA hasn't missed a beat. He has dominated throughout the postseason, and he is the favorite to win Finals MVP. SGA was already given the NBA MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP, and he is coming for more. He is the best player in this series, and it's going to be exciting to see how he finishes off this historic season. Here are three SGA predictions for the NBA Finals: SGA will lead the series in scoring Out of every single player in the NBA Finals, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will score the most points. Both teams have a lot of talent, but when it comes to consistency, there isn't anyone like SGA. For the Pacers, we have seen numerous players step up in different games to anchor the team to a victory, but even Tyrese Haliburton has had off nights. A player that hasn't been off? Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He is going to show up every night, and he is going to light up the box score. No one in the NBA Finals is going to score more points than SGA. SGA will win NBA Finals MVP © Alonzo Adams-Imagn Images Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has already won MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP, so he is one award away from sweeping the MVP slate. After leading the NBA Finals in scoring, he is going to get it done. When it comes to superstars in the NBA Finals, there isn't a player like SGA. He is the best player that will be on the floor, and it will show night in and night out. When the series comes to an end and the MVP is announced, SGA will be the player receiving the award. SGA will lead the Thunder to a championship The Thunder are heavy favorites in this series, but it isn't going to be as easy as some people think. The Pacers are used to being the underdogs as not many people gave them a chance when they went up against the #1 team in the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Indiana was also the underdog in the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks, but they found a way to get past both of those opponents. This will be a good series, but SGA and the Thunder will get it done. Advertisement Indiana is going to give the Thunder a good fight, but it won't be enough. SGA and OKC will be too much for them to handle, and they will end up winning the series in six games to capture the first championship in franchise history. How the Thunder got here It's been an exciting journey through the NBA Playoffs for OKC, and aside from a scare against the Denver Nuggets, it's been a relatively stress-free run to the NBA Finals. The Thunder opened up their NBA Playoffs run with a series against the Memphis Grizzlies, and this one was never in doubt. The Grizzlies played well during their two games at home, but they didn't play well enough to earn any wins in the series. The Thunder cruised to an easy 4-0 win to advance to the second round. Advertisement Up next for the Thunder was the Denver Nuggets, and this is where things got dicey for OKC. Denver found a way to steal game one on the road, and that set things up for an exciting series. The Thunder clawed back with a road win of their own, and this back-and-forth battle ended up going to seven games. The Thunder were the home team in Game 7, and they were able to fend off the Nuggets to advance to the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder didn't have a lot of trouble advancing to the NBA Finals as they took down the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games. After cruising to an easy 2-0 lead, Minnesota did make things interesting in Game 3 with a dominant win at home, but SGA took over during the next two games and made sure that the Thunder were going to make it to the NBA Finals. Now, the Thunder are just four wins away from glory as they get ready to start their series against the Pacers. How the Pacers got here The Pacers' run to the NBA Finals has been a lot more surprising. Everyone expected the Thunder to make it this far, but no one gave Indiana a chance. Advertisement Indiana started its run with a series against the Milwaukee Bucks. There were some tight games in this series, but the Pacers ended up only needing five games to advance. The Bucks blew a seven-point lead with under one minute to go in Game 5. The Pacers were expected to lose to the Cavaliers in the second round as Cleveland was the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but again, it took the Pacers just five games to advance. Nobody saw that coming, but the oddsmakers still weren't taking the Pacers seriously. Indiana was once again the underdog in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Knicks, and to be fair, New York did take the Pacers further than any other team as the series lasted six games. Still, it was another impressive series win, and Indiana is now four wins away from a championship. Both teams are coming into the NBA Finals with 12-4 playoff records. These teams are hot, and it's going to be a good series. Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Pacers and Thunder will go down on Thursday night at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The game will get underway at 7:30 CT, and it will be airing on ABC. The Thunder are currently favored by 9.5 points.

Isiah Thomas Flexes Rare Feat Of Beating Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson And Larry Bird

Isiah Thomas Flexes Rare Feat Of Beating Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson And Larry Bird originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The late '80s and early '90s marked a transitional phase in the end of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson's era and the beginning of Michael Jordan's era. But before Jordan became the torchbearer of the '90s era in the NBA, Isiah Thomas and the 'Bad Boy' Pistons made their mark on NBA history. Advertisement Isiah Thomas is one of the few NBA players who can claim they beat Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird in the Playoffs. A few other players may claim they have done so, but what makes Thomas more special is that he led his team to beat them after they became the regular season MVPs, and then he went on to win two (back-to-back) championships. This makes him the only player in NBA history to beat 3 MVPs in consecutive Playoffs, win back-to-back championships, and also win a Finals MVP. Thomas went on Instagram and reminded his fans of what he accomplished during his career. His caption read as follows: Advertisement "Isiah Thomas is the ONLY player in @nbahistory to defeat three league MVPs in consecutive NBA Playoff runs — and then win back-to-back championships. Let's break it down: 💥 1988:✅ Defeated Michael Jordan (1988 League MVP) ✅ Defeated Larry Bird (1987 League MVP) ✅ Took Magic Johnson's Lakers to 7 games in the Finals on a sprained ankle and scored 25 points in one quarter — an NBA Finals record still today 💥 1989:✅ SWEPT Magic Johnson (1989 League MVP) and the Lakers in the NBA Finals. 🏆 NBA Champion 💥 1990:✅ Beat Michael Jordan again in the Eastern Conference Finals. 🏆 NBA Champion Advertisement 🏅 Finals MVP 📊 ISIAH'S NBA FINALS DOMINANCE (1988–1990) ✅ 3 Straight Finals Appearances ✅ 2 NBA Titles ✅ 1 Finals MVP Finals Averages (1988–1990): • 🧠 22.6 PPG • 🎯 7.5 APG • 🔥 49.6% FG • 💣 55.8% 3PT (24-of-43) • 💥 57.9% 3PT in 1990 Finals alone (11-of-19) — the highest in Finals history • 🧮 Combined FG% (2PT + 3PT weighted): 51.3%🔐 No Top 50 teammates while the MVPs had one or more #NBAHistory Let it Be Known" Isiah Thomas Calls Out 'Controversial' Tag Over Michael Jordan Record In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Isiah Thomas recently called out the NBA media and fans for deeming him 'controversial' since he's unapologetic about his playoff record against Michael Jordan. Advertisement "I don't run away from it. Fortunately for me, I'm probably one of the only people that can walk around this Earth and say, in playoff competition, I beat Jordan more than he beat me. I would put Magic [Johnson] and [Larry] Bird in that same conversation ... For some reason, that makes me controversial." "I'm ok with winning if winning comes with that controversy," Thomas said. "I'm not going to lose to him just so some people can be satisfied. I don't mind talking about my history and my basketball accomplishments. When I talk about them, I'm sorry, I did win. If you prefer me to ignore that I won, I don't know how that works." The Bulls and Pistons faced each other consecutively over four years in the NBA Playoffs from 1988 to 1991. Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas faced off in 22 games in the Playoffs. Jordan had a 10-12 record versus Thomas in his career. Mets Have Next Tim Lincecum, 'Strikeout Machine' in Line for Rotation

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The New York Mets have taken back the top spot in the National League East division and are coming off of an impressive extra-innings win against the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Though the Mets' best player, Juan Soto, is seeing a slow start to the season, the team has enjoyed strong contributions from a broad range of others. Pete Alonso has returned to the team in career form, Francisco Lindor has continued to play like one of the best shortstops in the sport and the pitching staff is replete with pleasant surprises. Even with a big-league roster that appears as complete as any in the majors, the Mets also have a budding superstar waiting in the wings. SNY's Danny Abriano detailed how "fast-rising" prospect Jonah Tong is drawing some exciting comparisons from Double-A Binghamton. "As Tong continues a meteoric rise that saw him excel across three minor league levels in 2024 during what was his first full professional season, he has taken it up a notch this season with Binghamton, where he has a 2.25 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, with an eye-popping 72 strikeouts and only 23 hits allowed over 44.0 innings spanning seven starts," Abriano wrote. "But as far as one pitcher Tong most enjoyed watching and says he's compared to the most, it's Tim Lincecum, who was a strikeout machine during his heyday while winning two Cy Young awards for the Giants." DETROIT, MI - OCTOBER 27: Tim Lincecum #55 of the San Francisco Giants walks to the dugout after striking out swining Andy Dirks #12 of the Detroit Tigers to end the eighth inning during Game... DETROIT, MI - OCTOBER 27: Tim Lincecum #55 of the San Francisco Giants walks to the dugout after striking out swining Andy Dirks #12 of the Detroit Tigers to end the eighth inning during Game Three of the Major League Baseball World Series at Comerica Park on October 27, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by) More Shaw/Getty From 2008 to 2011, Lincecum was one of the most electric pitchers in all of baseball, earning four All-Star nods in that span despite his diminutive stature and unorthodox delivery. His career took a sharp downward turn after its peak, but if the Mets can expect a Lincecum-like arrival for Tong, they will surely take it. Tong does have some more to prove in the minors before he'd be ready to test that comparison at the big-league level, but it's possible the Mets could promote him as soon as next season if he can keep up this level of production. Given the level of success the team is having, particularly in the pitching staff, the idea of adding the next Lincecum to the rotation is an exciting one.
