UNRWA: Gaza facing deliberate famine

New York – Saba: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Sunday that the Gaza Strip is facing a manufactured famine as a result of deliberate attempts to replace the UN-run humanitarian system with a politicized one known as the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation." UNRWA spokesperson Juliette Touma confirmed in a tweet published by the UN agency's account on the X platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that "collective humanity is on the verge of being lost," noting that the so-called "new Israeli-American system" for distributing aid is bringing more chaos, dehumanization, and death. UNRWA stressed the need to return to a unified system for coordinating and distributing humanitarian aid under the leadership of the United Nations, in accordance with international humanitarian law, asserting that "this crime must end." Far from the oversight of the United Nations and international relief organizations, the Israeli enemy began implementing an aid distribution plan on May 27 through the so-called "Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation," an organization supported by Israel and the United States but rejected by the United Nations. This plan has resulted in the deaths of nearly 2,000 Palestinian aid seekers. Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of those killed in the struggle for a living, waiting for aid, had risen to 1,938, with more than 14,420 injured.
