MCMC probes fake Instagram post on CJ's appointment
The commission said that the individual's statement was recorded at 2.30pm at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters and a mobile phone and SIM card were seized to assist in investigations.
"MCMC views the spread of fake content touching the integrity of the country's judicial institution seriously.
Misuse of social media for such purposes can affect public confidence and the country's public order.
"Stern action will be taken according to existing legal provisions," the commission said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 that stipulates a maximum fine of RM500,000 or two years' jail or both if found guilty.

Boys aged 3 and 6 found alone by roadside, police open investigation
KUALA LUMPUR: Two young boys were found wandering alone by the roadside near Bandar Bukit Mahkota in Bangi today before being brought to the police station by the public. Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abd Yusof said the boys, aged three and six, were found in good condition and without adult supervision at around 11.57am. "They were handed over to the Bangi police station by concerned members of the public after being found alone near a road. "Further investigation revealed that the boys had left their babysitter's house without her knowledge while she was asleep," he said in a statement yesterday. Naazron said the boys' parents were contacted and arrived at the police station at around 2pm, after which the children were safely reunited with them. An investigation is being carried out under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail term of up to 20 years, or both, upon conviction. Naazron urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of young children to prevent similar incidents. He said those with information on the case should come forward and contact investigating officer Inspector Nor Farahin Mohd Yatim at 017-398 7188.

Four nabbed over Sarawak Energy's RM30,000 transformer theft in Beladin
Police apprehend the four suspects and managed to recover the transformer unit. KUCHING (July 18): Police have arrested four men in Beladin, Betong in connection with the theft of a transformer unit belonging to Sarawak Energy. Betong District Police Chief DSP Rejali Angong said the suspects, aged between 30 and 39, were apprehended at various locations around Beladin yesterday (July 17). 'Acting on intelligence, a team from Betong district police Criminal Investigation Division carried out a series of arrests between 12pm and 5.50pm at several locations around Beladin on July 17. 'As a result, four local male suspects aged between 30 and 39 were apprehended. Two of them were found to have prior records on drugs,' he said in a statement today. Rejali said the stolen transformer unit, worth approximately RM30,000, was also recovered during the operation. He added that two of the suspects have prior drug-related records. The transformer was reported missing on July 16 at about 8.56am from a site near the Tanjung Lilin ferry point in Beladin.
