Monmouthshire road closing for one day for BT works
Monmouthshire County Council has announced the temporary closure of a section of Park-Y-Brain Lane, Goytre. The closure, from its junction with the A4042 extending approximately 380m, will take effect on Tuesday, June 10. The measure, scheduled to be in operation between 9.30am and 3.30pm, has been implemented to facilitate BT works. This order has been enacted under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. While the council anticipates the work will be completed within the day, the order remains in effect for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Property owners on the affected stretch of road will still have reasonable access during the closure period. A signed diversionary route has been arranged to minimise disruption. The alternative route will guide drivers via Saron Road, Old Abergavenny Road, Croes Y Pant Lane, and the A4042, and vice versa. The council has emphasised that contravention of the restrictions or prohibitions, as per Section 16(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, constitutes an offence, under the restrictions or prohibitions set out in Section 14 of the Act. The order, which comes into effect on June 10, is officially named the Park-Y-Brain Lane, Goytre, Monmouthshire Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025. The council has stressed that the closure is essential for the BT works to be conducted safely. Residents and motorists passing through the area are advised to plan their journeys in advance, considering the diversionary route.
