The Chase fans accuse Shaun Wallace of 'fix' after he loses to 'easy' question

The Chase fans were left underwhelmed by quiz master Shaun Wallace, also known as the Dark Destroyer, as four contestants squared off against him during Friday's episode of the popular ITV show.
Disgruntled viewers took to social media to express their suspicions of a fixed game after the team emerged victorious. On platform X, criticisms flooded in, with one user posting: "Shaun frequently throws a Final Chase, don't you?"
Another chimed in saying: "Can't believe that. Really seems fixed. Chaser loses to 12 and the question what astrology sign has the letter V in it, has him stumped. Really? Couldn't make it up." A third remarked: "Shaun being Shaun ... time to retire."

However, not all viewers jumped to judgment, with some offering support for Shaun. A comment read: "Every Chaser and quizzer has their 'Brain Fart Days' .... they're not bulletproof. Shaun's biggest brain fart happened on 'Virgo'."
In the episode, despite each contestant – Safia, Gareth, Sarah, and Wayne – being caught out during their individual rounds, the group nominated Safia to step up and take on the final challenge. Playing for a total prize of £4,000, she had to face Shaun solo and aimed to secure £1,000 each if successful, reports the Express.
Safia managed an impressive feat by answering 11 questions correctly within two minutes, with a one-step advantage, setting a final target of 12 for Shaun to beat.
Before Shaun took his turn on The Chase, he praised contestant Safia for her impressive performance and lauded two of her "superb" responses. In an intense final chase, Safia managed to push Shaun back five times out of six efforts due to his struggle with the answers.

The real twist came with the last question that not only stumped Shaun but also had viewers at home speculating about him throwing the game.
The pivotal moment unfolded as host Bradley Walsh quizzed: "What zodiac sign contains the letter V?" With the repeat show disconnecting competitors from viewers' reactions, Shaun was momentarily baffled, unable to recall the zodiac signs quickly enough. Passing the question, it bounced back to Safia, who promptly responded with 'Virgo'—the correct answer.
Time ran out for the Chaser, leading the triumphant team to split the £4,000 prize pot, taking home £1,000 each. Bradley couldn't hide his excitement as he exclaimed: "You've beaten a mastermind champion by the way! So well played."
Reflecting on his unusual defeat, Shaun remarked: "I played five of these, Lazarus, and that's the first time I've lost. That's why I take nothing for granted in this game."
Visibly astounded, Bradley concluded: "What a show, some brilliant answers, some brilliant head-to-heads."

'You'll never replace Cilla': Blind Date fans reveal true feelings about reboot
Iconic British TV show Blind Date is rumoured to be returning, and Metro readers have shared their dream presenters. The game show, which was hosted by Cilla Black, saw one hopeful single introduced to three members of the opposite sex with the aim of securing a date with one of them by the end of the show. The twist? The three potential suitors were hidden behind a sliding wall. The contestant asked three questions of the hidden singletons and used their answers to decide who to take on a date. Blind Date aired between 1985 and 2003 on ITV, though it had a brief revival on Channel 5 for two years in 2017, when Paul O'Grady took on hosting duties. Now, according to The Sun, the reality show is set to get a new home on Disney Plus, with an insider saying: 'Although there's likely to be some modern twists, the bosses very much want to keep the essence of the original. 'There'll be key elements returning, including the famous sliding wall. 'Plus, there will be a prize up for grabs of a wedding package, which echoes Cilla's famous gag whenever couples had enjoyed a successful date, and she used to ask, 'Do I need to buy an 'at for the wedding?'' It's not the first time reports of a Blind Date revival have surfaced, but so far nothing has been confirmed by Disney Plus. That hasn't stopped the rumour mill, however, and producers are said to be eyeing up Claudia Winkleman, Holly Willoughby and Davina McCall to host. We asked Metro readers to tell us who they want to see front a potential Blind Date revival, and a few notable names were mentioned several times. The Chase's Bradley Walsh received heaps of recommendations from Blind Date fans, with Jessica Jane Peers praising the presenter as 'completely hard to dislike'. He's hosted the enduringly popular ITV game show The Chase since 2009, and in 2024, it won the TV Choice award and NTA for Best Game Show. Many suggested Bradley Walsh should present Blind Date in tandem with one of his peers. Rachel Slucock said: 'Bradley Walsh or David Walliams, both would be hilarious,' and Anjii Cooper wrote: 'Bradley Walsh or Lee Mack, they would have a laugh'. Melle John added: 'It can only be Bradley Walsh or Stephen Mulhern. Yes they do get all the jobs. Cause they're good.' Speaking of Stephen Mulhern, the presenter was named by several Metro readers as their ideal Blind Date host. He's previously presented Dancing on Ice and Britain's Got More Talent, and is no stranger to a game show reboot, as the presenter of revived versions of Catchphrase and Deal or No Deal. Recommending him for Blind Date, Dave Butler said: 'Stephen Mulhurn, funny man BUT knows where to draw the line.' Victoria Hamilton echoed: 'Stephen Mulhern would be amazing at this,' while Tracy Purches suggested, 'Stephen Mulhern with the narrator from Come Dine with Me as 'our Graham''. 'Our Graham' was how Cilla referred to Graham Skidmore, who provided the voice-over for Blind Date. He died in 2021 at age 90. Jane McDonald, who fans may recognise from ITV's Loose Women as well as her Channel 5 travel show, Cruising with Jane McDonald, is another popular choice. Anne-Sarah Cassidy said: 'Jane McDonald would do a brilliant job,' and Tina Smith echoed, 'Jane McDonald would be great'. Carol Davies simply said: 'I think Jane McDonald would fit the part'. Jane has most recently hosted the British Soap Awards on ITV on June 5. And plenty of other popular presenters were named by Blind Date fans too. June Rae Elvidge said: 'First I thought Graham Norton, but for a laugh I thought how about Jeremy Clarkson? Or even Richard Hammond…it might be worth a giggle'. IshamaelSunSoar added: 'Davina [McCall] would be my first choice but would like to see Holly [Willoughby] come back and do more TV too'. And Paul Stables wrote: 'Claudia Winkleman, love her sense of humour on Strictly, she makes that show. You'll never replace Cilla though, that scouse/northern humour.' Paul certainly isn't the only Blind Date fan who felt no one could live up to the iconic Cilla Black, who passed away age 72 in 2015. Carl Turner said: 'No one is good enough to replace OUR CILLA… She was everything that kept us glued to our TV screens every Saturday night'. More Trending Samantha Cunningham agreed, writing: 'Can't imagine anybody being as good as our Cilla'. Meanwhile, others were keen to see fresh faces host the revival. And now, the hotel is at the heart of a sunbed standoff between tan-happy holidaymakers. Hotel guest Louise Smith couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted fellow tourists queueing up to snag the best tanning spots. And she was left completely flabbergasted when she spotted guests racing to the sun loungers as soon as the pool opened. As shown in the popular TV show, which stars the likes of Johnny Vegas and Steve Pemberton, the hotel has a huge pool area, with plenty of spots for sun loungers. However, some of the sun beds are better located than others, leaving Brits fighting over premium spots. Louise captured footage of the bizarre incident, which occurred at 9am on May 27, from her hotel balcony. 'Mick would definitely have a few choice words for them,' Louise told Luxury Travel Daily, referencing Pemberton's character in the show. 'I don't think any of the characters would approve. 'People started queuing from 7:30am. Fuming holidaymakers foil fellow Brits sneaky plans to secure sunbeds seven hours before hotel pool opens 'I think it's ridiculous. 'You go on holiday to relax, not to wake up super early to claim a sunbed.' Fellow hotel guests were also left astounded by the sun bed frenzy. Kelly-Ann Wass said: 'I've been here for a week and gone down at 10am and always managed to get a bed.' Tourists in Playa de la Americas have been branded "miserable" for waiting by the pool before sunbeds were even laid out. And one woman holidaying in Egypt revealed she was forced to get up at 6:30am to be in with a chance of snagging a sun bed.
