MP pacer Kranti selected to Indian team for Women's World Cup cricket
Goud gained recognition through her outstanding performance in the recently concluded ODI series against England.
Hailing from the tribal region of Chhatarpur in Bundelkhand, Goud overcame significant challenges to succeed in cricket. The youngest of six siblings, she expressed her happiness over the selection: "I can't believe it. It was my dream to play for the country in the world cup."
She added, "You were the first to inform me about my selection for the match against Australia.
And, now my brother just informed me about my selection to the World Cup team," said Goud.
In the ODI series against England in England, Goud took six wickets in her spell of 9.5 overs that steered team India to win the series by 2-1.
Acknowledging Goud's contribution in the victory of the Indian team, her Captain Harmanpreet shared her 'Man of the Match' title with her.
The right-arm medium-fast bowler made her ODI debut against Sri Lanka on May 11 and her T20 international debut against England on July 12, 2025.
Kranti's coach Rajiv Bilthare recalled," She came in worn-out clothes and regular shoes. I gave her Rs 1,600 to buy spikes. This was her first time she went onto the field wearing proper cricket shoes."

Speaking about the pace spearhead's return, Kaif pointed out how Bumrah's critics pointed out that whenever he played a Test during the recently concluded England tour, India did not win. "Sochke mooh kholna (Open your mouth carefully) because you mentioned that whatever matches we played in England, we lost when he played. You better look at how many matches he has played and India won them, go and find out that as well, regardless of the format. When he plays, how many times does he give match-winning performances? Go and find that stat as well. Bumrah is a promising diamond of India. You do not report him. There are no stains on him," he said on his YouTube channel. Kaif said that as he had said in one of his previous videos, Bumrah could not be seen playing Tests for too long after his recent injury struggles, he could play white-ball games as the workload would be lesser and recovery time would be good enough too, especially if he gets rest during matches against smaller teams like Oman, UAE. "I already said that Bumrah might not be seen playing long in Tests, but in white-ball cricket, if India comes in the Asia Cup final, then he might play seven games. He will bowl 28 overs (four overs per match), and I am speaking about a two or three-week-long tournament. There is no problem in bowling 28 overs; he will get time to recover. You can rest him in one odd match against Oman or weaker teams. After workload management and a break, he will be used. I think he would not face any issues in bowling four overs. You need Bumrah in T20 because he can change the course of the game with his bowling," he added. Kaif, however, was disappointed with no Mohammed Siraj in the team sheet, saying that he will be missed because of his form, having emerged as the leading wicket-taker during the England tour with 23 scalps in five matches and bowling lengthy spells in each game. "There is no Mohammed Siraj as well, and he will be missed because of the form he was in, the way he bowled in England, bowled longer spells in each game. By bowling that much, you have the bowling form. He plays IPL and picked up wickets as well. If you see, he is bowling exceedingly well in the first 10-12 matches. So, I am surprised he was not in the 20-member side," he said. "I am disappointed because he finished the series 2-2 on his own. We know how well he bowled, and when you have the form, you want to back that bowler, and that is why I am disappointed not to see him in the Asia Cup. He is an equally brilliant bowler even in white-ball cricket," he added. During IPL 2025 for the Gujarat Titans (GT), he took 16 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 32.93, with best figures of 4/17. For India, he has taken 14 wickets in 16 T20Is at an average of 32.28, with best figures of 4/17. His last T20I for India came against Sri Lanka in July last year. India will kick off their campaign against the UAE on September 10, while the high-voltage game against Pakistan is scheduled for September 14, with both fixtures set to be played in Dubai. India will play their final group stage fixture against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. After the group stage, the tournament will proceed to the Super 4, where the top two teams from each group will qualify. If India finishes second, then one of their Super 4 clashes will be held in Abu Dhabi and the remaining two in Dubai. The Super 4 stage will run from September 20 to 26. Dubai will host the final, which is scheduled for September 28.

2 Months After RCB Stampede, Karnataka Assembly Passes 'Crowd Control' Bill
Bengaluru: Over two months after the stampede that claimed 11 lives outside Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru felicitation ceremony on June 4, the Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday passed a new legislation aimed at ensuring safety at mass gatherings and public events. The Karnataka Crowd Control (Managing Crowd at Events and Venues of Mass Gathering) Bill, 2025, seeks to regulate permissions, enforce safety measures, and impose strict penalties for violations related to mass gatherings. The proposed rules, which - among other things - hold event planners and executors accountable, envisage three years in jail and stiff fines that begin from Rs 50,000 for violators. For organisers, the Bill presents a long checklist - Organisers must secure permission from designated authorities depending on the expected crowd size: For events with fewer than 7,000 people, permission must be obtained from the local police inspector. For gatherings of 7,000 to 50,000 people, the Deputy Superintendent of Police is the approving authority. For events with over 50,000 attendees, only the jurisdictional Superintendent of Police or Commissioner of Police can grant permission. Organisers must apply at least 10 days before the event with a detailed plan for safety measures and crowd management, and secure clearances from multiple departments, including Fire and Emergency Services, Health, Public Works Department (PWD), and Traffic Police. The Bill also says that the organisers must take full responsibility for any incidents during the event, including loss of life or damage to public and private property, adding that to obtain permission, organisers must execute an indemnity bond worth Rs 1 crore. An indemnity bond assures the holder of the bond that they will be duly compensated in case of a possible loss As for security, the Bill says that the authorities, along with organisers, must prepare a detailed plan for crowd management and security, ensuring full compliance on the event day. Authorities can cancel permissions or stop ongoing events if emergencies or law-and-order issues arise. What Is The Penalty? Imprisonment of three to seven years and/or a fine of up to Rs 1 crore will be imposed on organisers for holding events without required permissions. Up to three years of imprisonment and/or a Rs 50,000 fine for actions causing disturbance. For causing crowd disasters, the organisers will envisage a minimum of three to seven years of jail term for injuries, and 10 years of life imprisonment in case of fatalities. For disobeying lawful police directions, the organisers will have to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 and carry out one month of community service The offences under this Bill are cognizable, non-bailable, and triable by the Judicial Magistrate First Class. However, cases involving fatalities in crowd disasters will be triable by a Court of Session. Additionally, the Bill will not be applicable to family functions such as weddings held on private premises. The Bill is a fallout of the massive criticism directed at the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led government after the stampede. The RCB's maiden victory in the Indian Premier League after 18 years had become an emotive issue, drawing a massive crowd of supporters to cheer for the team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The unexpected turnout near a narrow entry sparked chaos that led to the stampede.
