Today's Quordle Hints (and Answer) for Saturday, August 16, 2025

If you're looking for the Quordle answer for Saturday, August 16, 2025, read on—I'll share some clues, tips, and strategies, and finally the solution. Beware, there are spoilers below for August 16, Quordle #1300! Keep scrolling if you want some hints (and then the answer) to today's Quordle game. (If you play Wordle, Connections, or Strands, check out our hints for those games, too.) How to play Quordle Quordle lives on the Merriam-Webster website. A new puzzle goes live every day. If you've never played, it's a twist on The New York Times' daily Wordle game, in which you have a limited number of attempts to guess a five-letter mystery word. In Quordle, though, you're simultaneously solving four Wordle-style puzzles, and each of your guesses gets applied to the four puzzles simultaneously. Due to the increased difficulty, Quordle grants you nine guesses (12 if you play on 'Chill' mode, or eight if you play on 'Extreme'), rather than Wordle's six. To start, guess a five-letter word. The letters of the word in each of the four quadrants will turn green if they're correct, yellow if you have the right letter in the wrong place, or gray if the letter isn't in that secret word at all. Ready for the hints? Let's go! Can you give me a hint for today's Quordle? Upper left: A state of being indebted. Upper right: Might make your windows rattle. Lower left: Playground staple. Lower right: Tippity top of society. Does today's Quordle have any double or repeated letters? Upper left: No. Upper right: No. Lower left: No. Lower right: Yes, a repeated vowel. What letters do today's Quordle words start with? Upper left: O Upper right: Q Lower left: S Lower right: E What letters do today's Quordle words end with? Upper left: G Upper right: E Lower left: E Lower right: E What is the solution to today's Quordle? Upper left: OWING Upper right: QUAKE Lower left: SLIDE Lower right: ELITE How I solved today's Quordle My starter words, SLATE and MOUND, get me a good bit of the way there today. The bottom left might be SLIME. Oops, I messed up: It's SLIDE. The bottom right is probably ELITE. Yep. The upper left could be OWING. Yeah! I thought the upper right might be SUAVE, but there's no S. Maybe it starts with a QU. QUAKE? Yay. The best starter words for Quordle What should you play for that first guess? We can look to Wordle for some general guidelines. The best starters tend to contain common letters, to increase the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. (And if you get all grays when guessing common letters, that's still excellent information to help you rule out possibilities.) There isn't a single 'best' starting word, but The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these: CRANE TRACE SLANT CRATE CARTE Meanwhile, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities in the first round by starting with one of these: SALET REAST TRACE CRATE SLATE Other good picks might be ARISE or ROUND. Words like ADIEU and AUDIO get more vowels in play, but you could argue that it's better to start with an emphasis on consonants, using a starter like RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it plays out. Solve the daily Crossword

Today's Wordle #1519 Hints And Answer For Saturday, August 16th

How to solve today's Wordle. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Saturday is here at last. Hooray for the weekend! The summer has been quite lovely these past few days, with some light monsoons here in the high mountain desert. Monsoons are the best, and I hope we get more of them because it's been ab it of a tease. If you're looking to end your fun in the sun with some good TV shows or movies, be sure to check out my weekend streaming guide with all the best current streaming options and theatrical releases. Let me know what you're watching, too! I'm always looking for recommendations. Alright, it's Wordle time! Looking for yesterday's Wordle? Check out hints, clues and the answer right here . Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Green : The letter is in the word and in the correct spot. : The letter is in the word and in the correct spot. Yellow : The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot. : The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot. Gray: The letter is not in the word at all. Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Wordle Bot's Starting Word: SLATE My Starting Word Today: STORE (35 words remaining) The Hint: Flat or dull finish. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . The Answer: Today's Wordle Screenshot: Erik Kain Wordle Analysis Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here . STORE was a very good opening guess, leaving me with a yellow box, a green box and 35 possible solutions. I opted for all new letters in my second guess, and CLAIM did the trick. There was just one possible solution remaining: MATTE for the win! Competitive Wordle Score Today's Wordle Bot Screenshot: Erik Kain The Bot and I each get 1 point for guessing in three and zero for tying, which leaves us with August totals of: Erik: 6 points Wordle Bot: 11 points How To Play Competitive Wordle Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points. If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day. Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative. You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy! Today's Wordle Etymology "Matte" comes from French mat meaning 'dull, without luster,' which itself comes from Old French mat 'dejected, beaten,' from Vulgar Latin mattus 'mazy, sluggish' (possibly from Latin maddus 'moist, drunk') — the sense shifted to 'dull in color or finish' in art and photography. Every Free Battlefield 6 Open Beta Reward You Can Earn Before Launch

The Battlefield 6 open beta has taken the gaming world by storm, as hundreds of thousands of players have queued up to trade lead, blow up buildings and rack up crazy killstreaks. The final beta period is in full swing: It began on Thursday, Aug. 14 and goes through Sunday, Aug. 17, so you'll want to join the playtest now if you want to experience the next era of Battlefield chaos before the full release on Oct. 10. Familiar maps and modes are making a return, as players play tug-of-war in Rush sectors and capture flags in Conquest -- this weekend, you can even battle across the wartorn streets of New York City with a new map pool update. If you join the playtest now, you'll have a chance to earn exclusive rewards that won't be available to players that didn't join the open beta. There are a number of challenges to complete and some of them require a substantial time investment, so the sooner you get started, the better. Here are the free cosmetic rewards attached to the Battlefield 6 open beta. Clear tight angles in close-quarters combat for special rewards in class-based challenges. Battlefield Studios/Screenshot by CNET Every open beta weekend one challenge reward When the Battlefield 6 open beta first launched on Aug. 9, players got their first chance at earning exclusive cosmetics that will be added to their accounts when the game fully releases on Oct. 10. If you missed the first open beta weekend, you're in luck: The first set of challenges are still available during the current open beta period, so you still have time to earn these rewards before they disappear forever. Here are all of the cosmetic rewards introduced during Battlefield 6's first open beta period, as well as the challenges you need to complete in order to unlock them. Lights Out Player Card Background: Reach career rank 10. Rising Star Character Skin: Reach career rank 15. Night Terror Weapon Charm: Reach career rank 20. Striking Distance Weapon Package: Get 50 kills on enemies within 10 meters of you while using the Assault class. Regularly using the M87A1 shotgun gadget is a great way to complete this challenge. I Own The Night Weapon Sticker: Get 100 revives while using the Support class. Revives using the new drag feature and the classic defibrillator pads both count toward this challenge. Note that reviving your squadmates while playing a non-Support class does not count toward this challenge. After Dark Weapon Sticker: Repair 3,000 vehicle health while using the Engineer class. Vehicles are only available on large-scale game modes like Conquest, so use custom search filters to find matches that will allow you to complete this challenge. Seeker Character Skin: Spot 300 enemies while using the Recon class. Aiming down sights at enemy players automatically marks them while using this class. While you can spot enemies with any class, only enemies spotted while playing Recon will count toward this challenge. Overpower enemy positions and take ground to unlock the weekend two beta rewards. Battlefield Studios/Screenshot by CNET New open beta challenge rewards The fight rages on during Battlefield 6's second open beta period. If you haven't jumped into combat just yet, you have until Sunday, Aug. 17 to try out the new massive multiplayer first-person shooter. During this period, you can still access the challenges from the first open beta. But the second Battlefield 6 open beta weekend also introduces three more challenges with their own cosmetic rewards, so there's something for returning players to strive toward as well. Here are the new cosmetic rewards introduced during Battlefield 6's second open beta period, as well as the challenges you need to complete in order to unlock them. Bat Company Dog Tag: Get 200 kills or assists. This challenge is not locked to any class or game mode. Dominion Weapon Package: Capture 15 sectors in the Rush or Breakthrough game modes. War Machine Vehicle Skin: Capture 42 flags in the Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination and King of the Hill game modes. Player skins are grounded and realistic in Battlefield 6 -- that includes the beta's associated cosmetic rewards. Battlefield Studios/Screenshot by CNET Exclusive PlayStation beta goodies are available If you're accessing the Battlefield 6 open beta on your PlayStation 5, you're in luck. So long as you're a PS Plus subscriber (which you need to be in order to access the Battlefield 6 open beta in the first place), you'll instantly become eligible for a double XP boost and an exclusive operator skin. These bonuses are automatically applied to your account, so you don't have to worry about browsing the storefront for a free DLC claim. The double XP will only affect your earn rate during the open beta, but that might be just the push you need to complete the challenges to hit career ranks 10, 15 and 20, respectively. If you don't see the soldier skin, there's nothing to worry about: Like all the other Battlefield 6 open beta cosmetic rewards, it will be applied to your account on Oct. 10 when the game fully releases. Don't have time to play the Battlefield 6 open beta, but you still want to know what the game is all about? CNET has you covered with a hands-on preview that explores how the game is returning to the series' roots.
