Senua's Saga: Hellblade II releasing on PS5 with new features and enhancements this summer

Xbox Game Studios and developer Ninja Theory have announced that Senua's Saga: Hellblade II will launch for PlayStation 5 this summer. The PlayStation 5 version will arrive with several new features, including enhanced haptic feedback and optimization for PS5 Pro. These enhancements will also be rolled out as a free update for the existing Xbox Series and PC versions on the same day. Originally released for Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on May 21, 2025, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. The game continues the journey of Senua, a Celtic warrior, as she navigates a brutal path through myth and torment in Viking-era Iceland. Optimized for PlayStation 5, the new version aims to elevate immersion through detailed visuals, spatial sound, and tactile controller feedback. Players will experience Senua's inner and outer battles with a unique perspective shaped by her psychosis, which remains central to the storytelling. Key features of the game include visceral, narrative-driven combat, realistic landscapes based on 10th-century Iceland, and a deeply immersive cinematic presentation. The experience blends intense psychological themes with action and exploration. Senua's Saga: Hellblade II has earned praise from critics and has won multiple awards, including honors at The Game Awards and the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards. A new trailer showcasing the PS5 version is now available, offering fans a closer look at what to expect from this next-gen experience.

Microsoft Raising Xbox Prices—And $79.99 Games Are Next

The age of the $70 game may be coming to an end, as Microsoft has unveiled a new pricing structure for its games and hardware—one that also sees the Xbox Series line of consoles become more expensive. Microsoft is raising the prices of nearly its entire catalogue by a significant margin. In an announcement today, the company introduced a revised pricing structure that takes effect May 1, impacting Xbox Series consoles and accessories. The new structure includes a proposed $10 increase on software, adding more than 10 percent to the cost for consumers. However, this change to software pricing is scheduled to go into effect at a later date. Price hikes on Xbox hardware are being rolled out globally, with the exception of wireless headsets, which will only see increases in the U.S. and Canada. All price adjustments are listed in the chart below. (If an item is not listed, its price remains unchanged.) Item Old Price New Price Price Differential Xbox Series S 512GB Edition $299.99 $379.99 $80 Xbox Series S 1TB Edition $349.99 $429.99 $80 Xbox Series X Digital Edition $449.99 $549.99 $100 Xbox Series X $499.99 $599.99 $100 Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Edition $599.99 $729.99 $130 Xbox Wireless Controller – Limited Edition $79.99 $89.99 $10 Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Core) $139.99 $149.99 $10 Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Full) $179.99 $199.99 $20 Xbox Wireless Headset $109.99 $119.99 $10 The new pricing on Xbox consoles and peripherals is already live, according to the official Xbox announcement. Microsoft also stated: 'We also expect to adjust the pricing of some of our new, first-party games starting this holiday season to $79.99,' referencing Mario Kart World's confirmed $79.99 launch price for the Nintendo Switch 2, announced during the recent Nintendo Direct. Xbox issued the following statement on the new pricing: 'We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players.' While both Xbox and Nintendo have committed to increasing software prices, it remains to be seen whether Sony will follow suit.

All eyes on fighting game meet Evolution Championship Series Japan

The Evolution Championship Series Japan 2025 takes place this weekend. It is a fighting game tournament where the best players compete against one another in titles like Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. Its US counterpart will take place later this year. Historically, these major fighting game tournaments have had a lower prize pool compared to their peers like Dota 2 and League of Legends. And yet, there is often more hype around them compared to big-league MOBA or battle royale tournaments. Nothing against those, but fighting game tournaments are the equivalent of seeing double elimination mixed martial arts showdowns – just with fantastical moves you'd only find in kung fu action flicks. Also, video game company SNK is hosting an end-of-year fighting game tournament featuring their own titles – the newly released Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, The King of Fighters XV, and Samurai Shodown – with a grand total prize pool of US$3.5 million. It's taken fighting games a long time to reach this level, with a prize pool comparable to The International or League of Legends Worlds. But they're finally there. Let's hope for a brighter future for fighting game tournaments. Short beats Rockstar Games has released a new Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay trailer showcasing the characters and locales in Vice City. The game will be out on May 26, 2026, pushed back from its original fall 2025 release window. Palworld is patching out various features in its gameplay due to a Pokémon lawsuit. The FTC has lost its appeal against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, effectively allowing the now-completed deal to stand. After 19 years, the first Gears of War third-person shooter title will finally be released on PlayStation platforms this August in remastered form. Indonesian developer Game Changers has announced a new title called 1998: The Toll Keeper Story, an adventure game where you play a toll keeper during the late 90s Southeast Asian financial crisis. The upcoming remake of classic Japanese role-playing game Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky First Chapter will be out in English on Sept 19. 2K Games' upcoming action-adventure crime title Mafia: The Old Country will be out on Aug 8 for PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. Games out this week Captain Blood is a pirate-themed action game that spent a decade in development hell before finally setting sail this week for PC and consoles. Expect cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and plenty of pirate shenanigans in a game clearly stuck in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 era. Revenge of the Savage Planet is a first-person co-op sci-fi shooter where you jump, shoot, and collect your way across vibrant alien worlds. You'll also gain powers and unlock new areas in classic Metroidvania style. Out for PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation consoles. Spirit of the North 2 is a third-person adventure game where you play an isolated fox on a quest to restore the lost guardians of the wild and return home. Gears of War: Reloaded brings another Xbox classic to PlayStation 5

The Gears of War you remember is coming back, remastered and optimized for modern consoles, including the PlayStation 5. Titled Gears of War: Reloaded, it launches on August 26, 2025, for just $40 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Steam, and will be a day one release for Xbox Game Pass. Gears of War: Reloaded will support crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms, and any fans who already owned a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded. The remastered version of the classic third-person shooter will support 4K resolution, 120 FPS, and cross-platform multiplayer. It also supports HDR and variable refresh rates and promises zero loading screens during the campaign. The graphics have been upscaled to take full advantage of modern hardware and make the games look better than ever. Recommended Videos If you don't want to fight the Locust Horde all on your own, Gears of War: Reloaded will also support two-player campaign co-op. Multiplayer modes will support up to eight players at once, and you don't need a Microsoft account to play. However, if you already have one, signing in with a Microsoft account lets you carry your progression in both campaign and multiplayer across platforms. Gears of War: Reloaded contains all the content available in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, including all post-launch DLC. That includes an extra campaign act, all multiplayer modes, as well as the full roster of characters and all cosmetics available through progression. For diehard fans, this is more than enough content to keep you entertained until Gears of War: E-Day comes out. The Coalition partnered with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief to create the modern, definitive version of each game in the franchise up to Gears of War: Judgement. If you've never taken the time to play the post-apocalyptic shooter, now is the perfect chance. It blends a post-apocalyptic sci-fi story with action-packed gameplay, and there are few multiplayer moments more satisfying than slicing someone in half with a Lancer.
