Oasis superfans spend £10k to see heroes in Edinburgh after flying from New York
A pair of Oasis superfans have spent around £10,000 to travel across the Atlantic and fulfil a 30-year dream.
Andrew Wadhams, 39, and Alicia Diaz, 41, have flown from New York to see the Gallagher brothers in Edinburgh on Friday, August 8 for their first concert in the capital since 2009.
The couple have poured thousands into making Andrew's dream of seeing the Britpop group live in the UK come true, after first becoming a fan of their music in 1995.
Andrew said: "As soon as they announced they were coming back, I knew there was no way I was going to miss it. I had to get up at two in the morning to get tickets.
"Tickets were about £400, the hotel was £2000, flights were around £1500. We're going to make a week of it, so after this we're going to London for the first time. Altogether it's cost around £10,000.
"I've loved Oasis since the fifth grade, in about 1995. I spent so many nights at home watching all their videos. To see Oasis in the UK has been a dream of mine.
"I was able to see them on their last US tour, but that was when Liam's voice was just not that great, so the fact that they're back now is amazing."
They are among several others who have travelled to Scotland from across the globe to see one of the band's three shows at Murrayfield over the weekend.

Dad Josep Bayarri, 64, son Gon al Bayarri, 29, and daughter Llucia Bayarri, 22, have travelled from Valencia, Spain after spending around €1,000 (£866) on flights and accommodation, and around £1,000 for their gig tickets.
The superfans said they will be flying back home at 8am tomorrow and spend a night in the airport. However, Gon al said "every penny is worth it" to see the Gallagher brothers playing live.
He explained: "We are big fans of Oasis since we were young. My father was [a] very big fan when he was younger in the 90s.
"When we where told they were going to come back we queued on Ticketmaster and we thought that Edinburgh was the best concert so we came here. We flew yesterday in the morning to Edinburgh from Barcelona airport."
While their dad is queuing for the stadium doors to open, Gon al and his sister are on the merchandising queue. He said that so far they spent around €800 (£693) in merch, from t-shirts, to bucket hats and posters.
Gon al is hopeful Oasis will be touring in Spain next year. He added: "If they come to Madrid we will try and get tickets."

Kate Garraway thanks 'gallant stranger' for selfless act as she enjoys Oasis gig
Kate Garraway took her children to see Oasis last week and says she had a wonderful time reliving her youth, and thanked the stranger for lifting her up onto his shoulders Former Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway relived her youth at Oasis' Wembley Stadium gig as she was spotted in the crowd enjoying the show from a strangers shoulders. The brothers announced their comeback tour in August 2024, with them sharing the news on social media and saying: 'This is it, this is happening. The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.' This tour is the first time Liam and Noel have performed together in 15 years, following their highly-publicised fall-out which led to them icing each other out of their lives. Tickets have been selling out within minutes and thousands of fans have been descending on each city to see the much-loved duo. It comes after reports of Victoria Beckham's four-word comment to Geri Horner amid Spice Girls 'feud'. Kate, 58, took her children to the Wembley Stadium gig last week and it seems she had a wonderful time reliving her youth. She danced the night away but took things a step further and decided to watch the brothers' epic performance in London from the height of a stranger's shoulders. In an Instagram post Kate thanked the "gallant stranger" for lifting her up onto his shoulders. Sharing an Instagram post to mark the occasion she even posed for a selfie with him. She captioned the post: "For all those catching the @oasis lads #murrayfield tonight you are in for the time of your life . This was us last week at Wembley - loving every second of it . Special mention has to go to the gallant stranger ( bottom right) who hauled me onto his shoulders for #champagnesupernova to relive my 20's at #knebworth 96. I can only assume he didn't realise a) I'm heavier than I look & b) how long that song actually is !!! Do hope he's not spent all week at the chiropractor but eternally grateful!" One follower commented: "It is so lovely to see you enjoying life and smiling again enjoy every moment you deserve it," another wrote: "Go on Girl!! Hope you had a supersonic time!!!!" A third wrote: "ou and your family deserve to be happy and enjoying through all you have been through." Some fans compared the man to Gareth Southgate, one wrote: "Haha! Looks like Sir Gareth Southgate had you on his shoulders," another said: "He could be Gareth Southgate's long lost brother." Oasis will continue their shows in Edinburgh on Tuesday (12 August) before heading to Ireland to play two shows at Croke Park in Dublin on 16 and 17 August. Liam and Noel, 58, will then travel to Canada and America for shows in Toronto, Chicago, LA and Mexico City before coming back to London for two more big gigs at Wembley towards the end of September. The brothers will follow up their action-packed schedule with Asia, Australia and South America before ending their comeback tour on 23 November in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Young Oasis fan has incredible moment with Noel Gallagher at Edinburgh show
Jessica was at the front of the barrier to the Murrayfield gig on August 8 when her homemade sign was spotted by Noel and bandmate Bonehead. A teenage Oasis devotee was moved to tears after concert-goers helped push her to the front of the crowd at the band's debut Edinburgh performance - leading to a magical moment with Noel Gallagher. Jessica, from south west Scotland, had secured a prime spot at the barrier for the band's first Scotland show on August 8. Her handmade sign caught the attention of Noel and his bandmate Bonehead. The 17-year-old fan revealed the groups' music had 'saved her life' during difficult struggles with her mental health. Jessica, who never believed she would see Oasis perform live, said she felt like her entire existence had been 'leading up to this moment'. She told the Manchester Evening News: "Oasis is my favourite band and has been for a very long time. When their reunion was announced I was so happy, I got tickets in the presale and started a little countdown to my gig. "My whole life was building up to me seeing them. "My mam had bought me a little blanket/flag and said I should take it and I decided to paint on it saying how much Oasis means to me and hope I got to a barrier to show them. "I was third row for most of the gig but the people in front of me were so kind and let me to the barrier to hang my sign over it during the encore. I was sobbing - like I had been for most of the gig - and during The Masterplan I saw Noel look over. "He had to tilt his head because I was very far on his left and there were cameras and speakers in the way and my flag was tilted a bit to the side and difficult to read. "He saw and smiled at it and occasionally looked over through the rest of the songs." Paul Arthurs - Bonehead - also spotted the sign, and later replied to Jessica on X, writing: "I saw your flag too and I'm glad [I] did, you carry on and hold your head high. We're right behind you." Jessica added: "I've suffered with my mental health a lot over the years and when I found Oasis, something clicked and suddenly I found myself obsessed and I ended up knowing so much about them and all their songs. "I'm autistic and they're my special interest. I was always holding out hope they'd reunite and they did and getting tickets helped motivate me and feel better. "I met some really good people, including a girl called Lucy, who helped me get my good spot and was hugging me. Seeing Oasis live really healed something in me."

Netflix period drama 'better than Outlander' is available to stream now
The 'outstanding' period drama is given a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. When trying to find a new and exciting period drama, it's often the same titles coming up time and time again. However, what if there was one hidden gem even better than the best-known series, sitting right under your nose? Inspired by the true story behind one of Italy's first female lawyers, The Law According to Lidia Poët follows the titular attorney, played by Matilda De Angelis, as she fights to practice law in late 19th-century Turin, Italy. After being disbarred from practising law simply because she is a woman and forced to be an assistant to her lawyer brother Enrico, portrayed by Pier Luigi Pasino, Lidia fights for gender equality at a time when it simply didn't exist. Despite the obstacles she faced, she continues to work hard being the scenes, using her intelligence, determination, and progressive views on justice to solve crimes. The six-part series aired on Netflix in 2023 with the second season coming a year later, the Express reports. For those that believe this sounds right up their street, it's good news because both of these seasons are available to watch on the streaming platform and better yet, another season is coming too! The third season of The Law According to Lidia Poët is expected to be released in late 2025 or early 2026. The Italian historical drama was praised after its release with critics applauding the mixture of courtroom drama, mystery-solving, and feminist themes. However, the series faced some criticism from Lidia Poët's grandnephew, who accused it of sexualising her character, ignoring her Waldensian heritage and lacking proper historical context. Despite the backlash, The Law According to Lidia Poët has a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been met with constant praise from viewers. One gushed: "Love it! Actors are brilliant, script is developed and interesting; Costumes are Amazing!!! The details of jewellery and accessories for Lidia are Fabulous!!!!! "Love the insect brooches or fly/ spider earrings!!! And that's just 1 character!! Everything, the finest detail was designed and styled to perfection!!!" A second chimed in: "This is a great series based on the two seasons I have watched. Hint: You'll not want to miss the Season 2 finale and everything which leads up to it. Netflix deserves our thanks for this worthwhile show." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. A fifth echoed: "This TV series is so so so well written and made its adventures entertaining. You must go watch this tv series!! So far both two seasons are phenomenal."
