Telangana transfers IAS officer who reshared Kancha Gachibowli land row AI image
After the inquiry, Sabharwal took to social media, stating, 'The post was reshared by 2,000 individuals on this platform. I sought clarification on whether the same action is initiated for all! If not, this raises concern about selective targeting, that in turn compromises the principles of natural justice and equality before the Law.'Sabharwal is among the 20 officers reassigned to new roles as per a government order on Sunday. She has been reassigned as the Member Secretary of the Telangana Finance Commission, a position she previously held before her stint in YAT&C. The move comes just weeks before the state is set to host the Miss World Beauty Pageant 2025, an event Sabharwal had been overseeing as part of her role in the tourism department.ROUTINE TRANSFER OR RESPONSE TO CONTROVERSY?advertisementSabharwal's reassignment, in particular, has raised eyebrows, given her prominence in the previous administration under Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's BRS government. As the Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sabharwal had wielded significant influence, but after the Congress's electoral victory, she was moved from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).The developments have stirred discussions in political and bureaucratic circles, with some suggesting that the transfer could be a response to the controversy surrounding Sabharwal's social media post, while others argue it reflects the natural rotation of officers in government service. While no official comment has been made by the government regarding the specific timing of Sabharwal's transfer, the reshuffle seems to coincide with transitions in Telangana governance, with a new chief secretary and key changes across various departments.OTHER BUREAUCRATS ALSO REASSIGNEDAlongside Sabharwal, several other top officials were transferred as part of the broader administrative shuffle. Shashank Goel, Director-General of the Dr. MCR HRD Institute, was moved to the role of Vice Chairman of the Centre for Good Governance, while Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan was reassigned to lead the Industry & Investment Cell in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).Another significant transfer saw M Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, moved to the Department of Labour and Employment, while K Shashanka, previously leading state flagship projects, will now head the Future City Development Authority.advertisementThe reshuffle also saw other bureaucrats, such as Sangeetha Satyanarayana and Venkata Rao, being reassigned to various key positions across health, municipal, and urban development sectors, reflecting the state government's efforts to streamline operations.

Primary school teachers on padayatra today in protest against govt. failure to keep promise
Government school teachers under the banner of the district unit of Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association are set to take mass casual leave on Tuesday and participate in a padayatra seeking fulfilment of their long-pending demands placed before the State government. Association district president Mallayya Guttedar, addressing a press conference here on Monday, said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in September last year promised to provide primary school teachers designation as Graduate Primary Teacher and revise the Cadre and Recruitment (C&R) Rules implemented in 2017. But the State government has failed to deliver its promise even after 11 months, he said. Mr. Guttedar said that their demands include designating qualified government primary school teachers appointed to teach classes 1 to 7 before 2016 as Graduate Primary Teacher and promotion of senior teachers as headmasters in schools considering their seniority. He said that nearly 400 posts of headmasters are lying vacant in government schools in Kalaburagi district. He also demanded that teachers should not be assigned non-academic work. The association members have set a deadline of 15 days for the State government to fulfill their demands, They said that if the State government fails to address them by August 25, then, they will be forced to intensify their agitation. Replying to a question, Mr. Guttedar clarified that on Tuesday they will not be protesting but the teachers will take out the padayatra from Jagat Circle to the Deputy Commissioner's office and also to the Deputy Director for Public Instructions office and submit a memorandum. He said that the padayatra will not affect the functioning of schools as 50% of teachers will stay back in schools.

Historic sword of legendary Maratha Commander Raghuji Bhosale secured by government
The sword of Raghuji Bhosale was won in an auction by the Maharashtra Government and was taken into custody in London by Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar on Monday. Raghuji Bhosale was the founder of the Nagpur Bhosale dynasty and was a prominent commander in the Maratha army, during the reign of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. The sword will be brought to Mumbai on August 18. News of this historic sword going up for auction broke unexpectedly on 28 April 2025, creating a wave of interest across Maharashtra. As soon as the Cultural Affairs Minister learned of it, he immediately discussed the matter with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and initiated planning to ensure the sword came into the government's possession. Calling it a witness to many glorious feats, Shelar expressed his honour at having the privilege of bringing such a priceless piece into Maharashtra's custody, describing it as a historic victory for the entire state. This marks the first time that the State has acquired a historic artefact from abroad through an auction. When the sword was taken into possession Monday, a large number of Marathi-speaking citizens in London gathered to witness and celebrate the event. Deputy Director of the Archaeology Department, Hemant Dalvi, also accompanied the Minister on this trip. After completing all legal formalities, the sword will arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, at 10 am on Monday, 18 August. In the presence of Cultural Affairs Minister Shelar, a bike rally will escort the sword with great fanfare to PL Deshpande Kala Academy, Dadar. On the same day, the programme 'Gad Garjana' will be held in the presence of dignitaries. Minister Shelar conveyed special thanks to the Chief Minister for the achievement, stating that under the leadership of CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, this is a proud moment that will go down in the Government's history. Raghuji Bhosale I (1695 – 14 February 1755) was the founder of the Nagpur Bhosale dynasty and a prominent commander in the Maratha army during Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj's reign. Impressed by his bravery and military strategy, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj conferred upon him the title 'Senasahib Subha'. Raghuji Bhosale I led military campaigns against the Nawab of Bengal in 1745 and 1755, extending the Maratha Empire's reach to Bengal and Odisha. He also established control over Chanda, Chhattisgarh and Sambalpur, and defeated the Nawabs of Cuddapah and Kurnool, thereby asserting Maratha military and political dominance in southern India. Recognised as one of the most daring Maratha commanders of the 18th century, Raghuji Bhosale's Nagpur kingdom was rich in iron and copper deposits, used not only for manufacturing goods but also for crafting weapons. The sword of Raghuji Bhosale that went under the hammer in London is an exquisite example of the Maratha-style Firangi sword, featuring a straight, single-edged European blade and a gold-inlaid Mulheri hilt. Near the hilt is the name of the European manufacturer, as such blades were popular among India's elite in the medieval era. The spine of the blade bears a gold-inlaid Devanagari inscription reading 'Shreemant Raghoji Bhosale Senasahib Subha Firang', indicating it was made for or used by Raghuji Bhosale. The hilt is adorned with gold koftgari work, and the rounded pommel is wrapped in green cloth. This Firangi sword is remarkable for several reasons. Most medieval Maratha weapons lacked decorative embellishment or inscriptions of their makers or owners. This sword is a rare exception, bearing both intricate ornamentation and the owner's name. The presence of its European-made blade further points to the flourishing international arms trade in 18th-century India. In 1817, the Nagpur Bhosales fought the British East India Company at Sitabuldi. Following the Company's victory, the Bhosale treasury was looted, including many valuable items, jewellery and weapons. After Nagpur was annexed, the British also received tribute and gifts from the Bhosales over time. Experts believe that Raghuji Bhosale's sword may have left India either as part of the war loot or as a gift to the British.

IAF Shot Down Pakistani Aircraft 300 Km Away In Largest-Ever Surface-To-Air Kill
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh revealed that the Indian Air Force downed a large Pakistani aircraft from 300 km away during Operation Sindoor, showcasing India's air superiority. Air Chief Marshal A P Singh's assertion that Indian Air Force downed a large Pakistani aircraft from a distance of around 300 km, reflected its unprecedented air superiority that dealt a 'huge" psychological blow to the adversary. This is what military officials said while breaking down nuances of the Air Chief Marshal's address in Bengaluru on Saturday where he said India shot down five Pakistani fighter jets and a large special mission aircraft during Operation Sindoor. The IAF chief described the downing of either an ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) or AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) aircraft as the 'largest-ever recorded surface-to-air kill" that we can talk about. 'It is significant as there is no publicly available information of a surface-to-air missile bringing down such an asset at a distance of 300 kms or beyond," said a senior military official on condition of anonymity. The strike dealt a massive psychological, strategic and tactical blow that will be difficult for Pakistan to overcome, explained another official. If it was an AEW&C aircraft, then the blow was much more significant as every air force globally has a limited number of such aircraft. An AEW&C aircraft provides airspace surveillance and early detection of airborne threats and plays a very important role in an air combat scenario. Pakistan is reported to have six to eight AEW&C aircraft. 'The kill showed we can reach every corner of Pakistan," he added while elaborating how induction of Russian S-400 air defence missile systems helped India enhance its air dominance. This was not the case during the 2019 Balakot strikes as Pakistani jets came very close to the frontier and mounted a spirited offensive when they came for retaliation. People had questioned India's air dominance capabilities, said a third officer. Pakistan had briefly captured Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman after he downed an enemy jet during aerial combat over six years back. Now, it is a different scenario. The S-400 missile systems backed by superior air dominance jets have brought in a different dimension to India's air power capabilities. Russia has delivered three squadrons of the air defence missile system under a USD 5.43 billion deal inked in 2018. The remaining two squadrons of the S-400 missile system are likely to be delivered within the next one year. The S-400 missile system is a state-of-the-art air defence platform capable of engaging multiple aerial threats at long ranges of up to 450 kms. It is learnt that India is now looking at the option of procuring additional regiments of S-400 missiles to further expand its tactical depth. However, there is another view in the defence circle that India should focus on its ambitious Project Kusha being planned by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Under the programme, India plans to develop a long-range, indigenous air defence system similar to that of the S-400 system. Following the Balakot strikes, people even questioned the efficacy of IAF's attack but this time, the force produced documented proof, said the second official. The officials also pointed out how India managed to hit multiple Pakistani installations while jamming its communication systems. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in territories controlled by Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The strikes triggered four days of intense clashes that ended with an understanding on stopping the military actions on May 10. New Delhi has been maintaining that India's fierce counter-attack that day forced Pakistan to plead for ending the hostilities.
