Exclusive- Sehban Azim on World Environment Day: I feel motivated when I read about Greta Thunberg

Time of India05-06-2025
World Environment Day
is celebrated every year on June 5th,
Sehban Azim
exclusively shares his views on conserving nature, his love of animals and more. Take a look at what he had to share:
Sehban shared, "The only practice to begin with to address every environmental issue at its core is to become aware of the fact that we have to be mindful of our environment, be aware and willing to adopt a minimalist approach and lifestyle.
Minimalism might save the world. Don't let the world's greatest companies fool you into believing and buying everything they are selling."
He further got candid about the measures he has taken, "I've cut down on a lot of products that leave a carbon footprint. Nobody tells you until you do your own research. Switch to ayurvedic lifestyle and modest living. The more you read the more you'll understand why the ancient world was built on this principle."
On Sehban's love for nature, "I've grown up with animals around me and helping them is just like helping a human being or a friend who's in need. We have taken over their entire fauna, so we should at least help them adjust to our environment. Also, we need to understand that we won't be able to survive without them being in ours."
Sehban shared he's inspired by
Greta Thunberg
, "I feel motivated when I read about Greta Thunberg. She used to say her goal was to protect the planet from climate change. Now she's fighting for Gaza's independence and rights. Because she's figured it's the capitalist system that's responsible for imperialism, oppression, genocide, racism and all the capitalist policies that are responsible for the destruction of our environment. Being so aware at this age to address such big issues in our world and fighting for such a big cause at such a big scale is so inspiring.
She is not afraid of calling a spade a spade. She's alone doing more than an organisation like WHO and others put together."

'Global Sumud Flotilla': Greta Thunberg plans second Gaza aid voyage; mission to sail on Aug 31 with 44 countries involved

(Source: gretathunberg/Instagram) Climate activist Greta Thunberg on Sunday announced her second flotilla mission, which will carry aid to Gaza. This time, multiple ships will take part. The operation will launch from Spain and make several stops at different ports to reach the Palestinian people. The Swedish protester is planning to mobilise activists from 44 countries for a large-scale flotilla mission. The campaign is set to launch on August 31. Thunberg took to her social media platform Instagram to announce the decision. 'On August 31st we are launching the biggest attempt ever to break the illegal Israeli siege over Gaza with dozens of boats sailing from Spain. We will meet dozens more on September 4th sailing from Tunisia and other ports. We are also mobilizing more than 44 countries on simultaneous demonstrations and actions to break complicity in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Join this initiative on this decisive moment!' About the mission The effort is called the 'Global Sumud Flotilla." It will include humanitarian activists, doctors and artists such as US actor Susan Sarandon, Swedish actor Gustaf Skarsgård and Irish actor Liam Cunningham. The group says it is an 'independent' organisation not linked to any government or political party, reports news agency AFP. The mission comes after two earlier attempts to deliver aid by ship to Gaza, in June and July, were blocked by Israel, with troops boarding the vessels and detaining activists before expelling them. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo Previous trip: Interception of Madleen On June 9, Israeli naval forces boarded and seized a British-flagged yacht, Madleen. The ship was operated by the pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition, as it attempted to break the naval blockade of Gaza. Greta Thunberg was among those on board. The vessel had planned to deliver aid, including rice and baby formula, and to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis. Israel's foreign ministry captured the vessel and dismissed the mission as a stunt, calling Thunberg an 'antisemite'. 'The 'Selfie Yacht' docked at Ashdod Port a short while ago. The passengers are currently undergoing medical examinations to ensure they are in good health,' the ministry posted on X, adding that any remaining aid 'not consumed by the 'celebrities' will be transferred to Gaza through real humanitarian channels.' Israeli defence minister Israel Katz had ordered the military to block the vessel, describing the trip as propaganda for Hamas. The activists were detained in international waters before being returned to their home countries. A photograph showed the crew in life jackets with their hands raised. Hamas condemned the seizure as 'state terrorism'. 'Mission isn't over' The UN's special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, backed the flotilla launched in June and called on more boats to challenge the blockade. She said, 'Madleen's journey may have ended, but the mission isn't over. Every Mediterranean port must send boats with aid & solidarity to Gaza.' Israel has maintained a naval blockade of Gaza since Hamas took control in 2007, citing the need to prevent weapons smuggling. The Israel-Gaza war was triggered by Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack that killed more than 1,200 people. 61,000 Palestinian deaths have been reported since, according to Gaza's health ministry.

After egg photo, BTS' Jimin deletes Jungkook's caricature of him, plays with young cat despite allergy

BTS' Jimin is on a roll these days! After mostly being MIA during his military service and achieving impressive accolades, he's back on social media. Well on his way to prove why he's the funniest member, much like J-Hope said, he has been making the internet burst into laughter with every move. On July 31, the singer deleted another one of his iconic posts on Instagram, one that had become the fandom's recent favorites. It was a caricature of the singer himself drawn by teammate Jungkook. Just a couple of days ago, the Who singer went on his Instagram to delete the picture of a lonely egg he had shared before his military enlistment in November 2023. The sudden act left the fans surprised, but the singer defended himself and shared how he felt relieved to make his social media look better. Now, the hilarious marker drawing made of him by Jungkook, which had become a point of discussion among fans, has disappeared, and we think the singer may be laughing about it back in his room. BTS' Jimin and cats: A surprising match Earlier in the day, Jimin updated his Instagram story with a video of a tiny cat which he was seen petting. As a remark, he added that it was taken a month ago and was heard saying 'be well' to the adorable animal, calling it cute. A grey fur cat with black stripes, it appeared to be enjoying the scratches from the K-pop singer, unaware and uncaring of his global status. A previous video shared mere days ago showed Jimin following another kitten around as it waited for the BTS member to play with it. A story like no other, Jimin and cats share a special bond, as despite his allergy to their fur, the Korean singer finds himself going back to them. His song Serendipity specifically mentions a calico cat, which has always made fans link him to one.

Sehban Azim on World Nature Conservation Day, says ‘A greener, kinder world is still within reach'

On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day, observed every year on July 28, actor Sehban Azim shared a powerful message urging people to re-evaluate their relationship with the planet. Known for his sensitive portrayals in shows like Dill Mill Gayye, Bepannaah, and Spy Bahu, Sehban used the opportunity to speak from the heart about environmental degradation and hope for change. Highlighting the day's importance, he said, 'The day also emphasizes the need to conserve vital elements of nature such as flora, fauna, air, water, soil, and energy resources to maintain ecological balance.' He went on to paint a stark picture of the current state of the planet, saying, 'The Earth is not ours, we don't own it, but because we consider ourselves the most intelligent species, it should be considered ours to protect. Forests are being burnt for profits, oceans are choking on plastic, species are vanishing in silence, and bombs are falling louder than the cries of a dying planet.' Expressing concern over the choices made in the name of development, he added, 'Major corporations are tearing down ancient forests for short-term gain. Cities are drowning in smoke, children grow up under sirens instead of birdsong, and we're drifting closer to a dystopian future.' But his message wasn't without hope. 'Even now, in the depths of greed and war, seeds of hope remain. If we choose peace over power, planet over profit, and regeneration over destruction—a greener, kinder world is still within reach.' Quoting Ozzy Osbourne, he concluded, 'I'm a dreamer, who dreams of better days.' Sehban emphasized that by uniting for this global cause, we can spark real change and work toward a sustainable, thriving Earth for future generations.
