Sharjah unveils organic pasta using locally grown wheat
The Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Establishment (EKTIFA), which is part of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, has started producing 'Sab' Sanabel' organic pasta. This is part of a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Macaroni Factory. All varieties of 'Sab' Sanabel' will be available at the Sharjah Cooperative next Thursday as part of the initial phase. The pasta is made using wheat from the Mleiha farm, which has a protein content of 19.3% — the highest in the world. The production launch was attended by His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabeh Al Teneiji, Chairman of the Agriculture & Livestock Department and CEO of EKTIFA, and Ahmed Saeed Belyouha (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Macaroni Factory), as well as several other officials from both sides. Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabeh Al Teneiji said: "Sharjah's sustainable food security system is progressing seamlessly. This is thanks to our integrated plans, which are in line with the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. His vision is to provide healthy and safe food that meets the highest international standards and contributes to the quality of life." 'The launch of production of all types of 'Sab' Sanabel organic pasta in cooperation with the Emirates Macaroni Factory comes at a time of increasing demand for 'EKTIFA' products. These products are based on the fundamental principle of food purity in the field of organic food. This approach consolidates the culture of healthy and safe food and provides organic products that meet the needs of all members of society,' Khalifa Al Teneiji added. He also mentioned that all varieties of 'Sab' Sanabel' pasta would be available at the Sharjah Cooperative next Thursday, which is an important initial step in the efforts of 'EKTIFA' and its partners at the Emirates Macaroni Factory to benefit the community and the national economy. 'Today's production launch is a timely investment and a real opportunity to establish 'Sab' Sanabel' as the leading brand of organic pasta in the UAE and other regional markets. It marks a turning point in the development and success of the national industry and strengthens its position as a global producer of safe organic food. 'EKTIFA' plays a key role in providing organic and safe food to all segments of society," he added. Ahmed Saeed Belyouha, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Macaroni Factory, said: 'The launch of 'Sab' Sanabel' pasta production is evidence of the success of the collaboration between the two entities, which are working together to enhance the operational and productive efficiency of the sustainable, high-quality national food industry. This collaboration uses the latest innovative technologies to reinforce our commitment to health and safety standards, reduce costs, and minimise resource waste.' He continued, 'EKTIFA represents a leading brand in the production of organic food, and today we are proud to launch the production process under a cooperation agreement that marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future in the UAE's organic food manufacturing sector.' Belyouha further noted that the Emirates Macaroni Factory is committed to providing partners with advanced solutions to help them achieve their goals and enhance their business. This contributes to strengthening the growth of the food industry sector within the UAE's GDP and supports the country's position as a centre for food industries, he added.
