BANGKOK: The Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand hosted a gathering for Malaysians abroad and local guests on Saturday to mark this year's Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Malaysia to Thailand, Bong Yik Jui, said while Aidiladha signified the values of sacrifice, devotion, and unity among Muslims worldwide, it also solemnly reflected to the duty and dedication carried out by the mission, in upholding Malaysia's interests overseas.
The embassy also welcomed a visiting delegation from the Royal Military College (RMC), comprising 32 Putera cadets and five officers at the celebration.
The delegation, led by its Commandant, Brig Gen Shaiful Azuar Ariffin, is currently in Bangkok for a one-week student exchange programme with Thailand's Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (AFAPS).
Bong noted that the visit offered RMC students a unique opportunity to experience Hari Raya celebration away from their families and friends.
'The celebration served not only as a religious gathering but also as a meaningful occasion to strengthen the bonds among Malaysians in Thailand,' he added.

KMJG 2025 Convoy brings Merdeka spirit to Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR: The spirit of patriotism and unity filled the federal capital today as the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy toured three parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur while proudly waving the national flag. The convoy, comprising 72 vehicles with 103 participants, was flagged off by Federal Territories Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Information Department (JAPEN WPKLP) director Associate Lt Col (PA) Sabarudin Yeop Hamzah from Wisma FGV here at about 8.40 am. 'This morning, JAPEN WPKLP, together with non-governmental organisations, parliamentary offices, government agencies and Suzuki V-Strom bikers, will tour three constituencies in the Federal Territory, namely Wangsa Maju, Cheras and Lembah Pantai,' he told Bernama before the flag-off. The four stopovers were Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) in Wangsa Maju, KWC Fashion Wholesale in Cheras, Institute of Teacher Education Malay Language Campus and McDonald's Pantai Sentral Park in Lembah Pantai. Along the route, the convoy drew public attention as participants waved the Jalur Gemilang from their vehicles and distributed mini flags to members of the public. Sabarudin said the nationwide tour, which began on July 27, is part of efforts to foster patriotism ahead of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations. 'This is a movement to remind Malaysians of their responsibility to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their premises proudly. One home, one Jalur Gemilang -- this is the manifestation of our love for the country,' he said. The convoy is supported by various government agencies and strategic partners, including the National Security Council, Fire and Rescue Department, BERNAMA, National Film Development Corporation, Road Transport Department and the Royal Malaysia Police. On July 27, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign at Dataran Tanjung Emas, Muar, Johor, before flagging off the KMJG 2025 convoy for its nationwide tour. The convoy will cover 88 stops, including 44 in Peninsular Malaysia, 20 in Sabah, 22 in Sarawak and two in Labuan, before concluding at Dataran Putrajaya, the venue for the National Day 2025 celebration, on Aug 31. - Bernama

He said that although there were certain quarters that refused to acknowledge Malaysia's role, the trust placed by the countries involved was clear proof that they held Malaysia's political and economic stability in high regard. 'Thank God, in Malaysia our politics are stable and our economic development is respected. So, when disputes arise, the task of reconciliation is entrusted to us. This is a form of international recognition, even if some in Parliament may choose not to acknowledge it — and that is fine,' he said. Anwar made the remarks when opening the Madani Dairy Entrepreneur Carnival at Farm Fresh Perak Dairy Complex today. Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek Earlier, US Ambassador to Malaysia Edgard D. Kagan was reported to have said that Malaysia had played an important role as ASEAN Chair in peace efforts between Thailand and Cambodia through the General Boundary Committee (GBC) meeting, following tensions along the border of the two countries. Kagan said that Malaysia's role in organising the meeting demonstrated its leadership in bringing both nations to the table. Meanwhile, Anwar said Malaysia's strong diplomatic relations with foreign countries have brought significant benefits, particularly in creating new economic opportunities in the country. 'For example, during the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, Thai milk could not enter Cambodia, but Farm Fresh milk successfully entered the market. 'I am sharing this because our relations with Thailand and Cambodia are good. If Farm Fresh wishes to open a farm in Thailand, we will extend our full cooperation,' he said. Anwar also stressed that the government will continue to support initiatives that strengthen the nation's food security, including the dairy industry. Expressing pride in the achievements of local dairy producer Farm Fresh Bhd, he praised the company for its contribution to the dairy sector, job creation for Malaysians, and commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR). Meanwhile, Farm Fresh chief operations director Azmi Zainal said the company's 828-acre complex in Perak is home to 4,300 dairy cows producing 22,000 litres of milk daily. 'In a year, this complex produces 10 million litres of milk, making it the largest and most productive dairy farm in the country,' he said, adding that the farm has 150 local workers, most of whom are under 30 years old. Farm Fresh also buys milk from local small farmers at competitive prices. 'Through our CSR initiatives last year, we awarded scholarships to 500 STPM students and starting this year, we will also introduce a mathematics tuition programme for primary school students,' he added. – Bernama Anwar Ibrahim asean diplomatic Thailand-Cambodia conflict

National Day A Platform To Show Unity

KLANG, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the National Day celebration should be a platform to bring Malaysians together and express their love for the country through the nation's main symbol, the Jalur Gemilang. He said that despite recent incidents involving the upside-down display of the flag, Malaysians must remain focused on the true meaning of the Jalur Gemilang, which symbolises unity. 'The Jalur Gemilang is our common flag, and National Day should unite Malaysians. Love for the nation must be part of our lives, especially for the Port Klang community and those in the logistics sector. 'We must strengthen the logistics sector because without it, trade cannot take place and the economy could collapse, given its vital role,' he said when officiating the Port Klang Community Fly the Jalur Gemilang Programme here today. The event, held at the Port Klang Authority Social and Recreational Club building, saw Loke presenting the national flag to 100 haulier drivers operating around the port. Loke said the government is also giving priority to the development of Port Klang through several new initiatives, including the proposed opening of a third port at Carey Island. He said the move aims to strengthen Port Klang's position as one of the busiest ports in the world, benefiting the local community and driving national economic growth. 'Port Klang and its community will continue to enjoy significant economic spillovers from various projects, while providing opportunities for logistics industry players to contribute energy, ideas and efforts to national development. 'I hope today's campaign not only lifts the spirit of flying the Jalur Gemilang but also inspires the Klang community to continue advancing Port Klang,' he said.
