Johor cops nab two van drivers suspected of molesting four children in separate incidents

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested two school van drivers for allegedly molesting four children in two separate incidents.
In the first case, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said police were notified about a molestation incident where the victims are two sisters, aged eight and nine years old, respectively.
'The two victims refused to board the school van, which they have been using since 2023, and when their mother asked them the reason for their refusal, they claimed that the van driver allegedly touched them inappropriately several times.
'After finding out the reason from her daughters, the mother then lodged a police report at around 11.15am on Monday (May 19) morning,' he said when met at Johor police headquarters here on Tuesday (May 20).
ACP Raub added that after receiving the report, police then made an arrest involving a 42-year-old local male at his house in Plentong Baru here at around 9.50pm on Monday (May 19) night.
He said that initial investigation found that the suspect allegedly molested the two victims inside the school van along Jalan Permas 1/1 here on last Thursday (May 15).
'Police have sent the two victims for a medical check up and they do not have any physical injuries on them,' he added.
In an unrelated case, Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that police have also arrested a 58-year-old school van driver for allegedly molesting two small children.
He added that the suspect was arrested at around 5.30pm on Monday at his house near Taman Desa Harmoni here to help with the investigation after one of the victim's father lodged a police report.
ACP Mohd Sohaimi said on April 21, at around 9.30am, the victim, who was an eight-year-old girl, claimed that the suspect molested her inside a school van while waiting for her school gate to open at Taman Molek.
'The victim then informed her father but he did not take any action as he knew the suspect.
'But on Monday morning at around 8am, the father saw the suspect molesting a seven-year-old boy inside the school van that was parked in Taman Redang,' he said.
The two suspects have no prior criminal records and are under remand for seven days until May 26 to assist with the investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
