IndiaAI Mission GPU tender round 2: All seven shortlisted bidders clear technical round

Time of India23-05-2025

All the seven shortlisted companies have qualified in the technical round of IndiaAI Mission's second round of graphics processing units (GPU) tender and their commercial bids were opened on Thursday afternoon, ET has learnt.
The L1 (lowest) price for the various GPU models offered by the bidders and the names of the L1 bidders for various GPU variants will be disclosed next week, people aware of the process said.
The selected bidders include
Netmagic
(now NTT Global Data Centres and Cloud Infrastructure division),
Cyfuture
India, Sify Digital Services, Vensysco Technologies, Locuz Enterprise Solutions, Yotta Data Services, and Ishan Infotech.
ET had reported on May 13 that the Centre has received bids proposing to offer a
total of 18,000 GPUs in the second round
of the IndiaAI GPU tender and that it expects 15,000 GPUs to finally be offered.
Cyfuture has proposed to offer 1,184 GPUs, including Nvidia's H100, L40S and A100 GPUs, AMD's MI300 and MI325 GPUs, and Intel's Gaudi 2 and Gaudi 3 GPUs. It has placed purchase orders for the same, people cited above said.
Vensysco has proposed to offer 2,300 GPUs: 2,000
Nvidia H100
GPUs, 100 AWS Trainium 1 GPUs, and 200 AWS Inferentia 2 GPUs.

Yotta has proposed to offer Nvidia Blackwell B200s.
GPU models that NTT-Netmagic, Sify, Locuz and Ishan propose to offer are not known.
While Vensysco and Locuz are
Amazon Web Services partners
, Ishan is an Oracle partner and NTT-Netmagic is a leading Google Cloud partner in India.
Under the first round of the GPU tender concluded in February, IndiaAI Mission is offering 14,517 GPUs on subsidised rates to the country's startups, academics and research organisations.
ET had reported on April 26 that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (
MeitY
) had assigned artificial intelligence (AI) projects, or workloads,
to three companies selected to supply GPUs
under the IndiaAI Mission.
The government, however, has not named the beneficiaries of the programme.
India gave the cabinet approval for the
Rs 10,000-crore India AI Mission
in March last year, with a target of creating an artificial intelligence (AI) compute infrastructure by procuring over 10,000 GPUs.
As part of the mission, the government is also incentivising the development of
local language models
built by academia and industry with investment capital and other support. The move is aimed at building up India's AI prowess.
ET reported on May 16 that the IndiaAI Mission has received
506 foundation AI model proposals
across three phases.
As part of the first phase of approvals,
Sarvam.ai was selected
to initiate the development of an indigenous foundational model. Sarvam will get access to 4,096 Nvidia H100 GPUs for six months from the IndiaAI Mission's common compute cluster to train its model.

Govt Mandates Price Cut on Edible Oils

HighlightsThe Indian government has instructed the edible oil industry to promptly pass on the benefits of a recent Customs duty reduction to retail consumers. On May 31, India reduced the basic Customs duty on imported crude palm oil, sunflower oil, and soybean oil from 20% to 10%, increasing the import duty differential between crude and refined cooking oils. The Solvent Extractors' Association has notified its members to implement the duty reduction benefits, with the impact on retail prices expected to be seen in a couple of weeks. The government has asked the edible oil industry to immediately pass on the benefits of a Customs duty cut to retail consumers. It has also directed the industry to share weekly updates of brand-wise maximum retail price of cooking oils with the Department of Consumer Affairs. India reduced the basic Customs duty on imported crude palm oil, sunflower oil and soyabean oil to 10% from 20% on May 31, which effectively increased the import duty differential between crude and refined cooking oils to 19.25% from 8.75%. In a letter addressed to the Solvent Extractors' Association (SEA), which represents the cooking oil industry, the department said: 'This adjustment aims to address the escalating edible oil prices resulting from the September 2024 duty hike and concurrent increases in international market prices.' The SEA said it has asked its members to pass on the benefits to consumers. 'There are 700,000-800,000 tonnes of cooking oils in the pipeline, which were imported by paying higher duties. The effect of the duty reduction will be seen in retail prices in a couple of weeks,' SEA executive director BV Mehta told ET. ET has seen the government's letter dated June 2. The SEA wrote to its members on June 4. The edible oil industry had been urging the government to increase the duty difference between crude and refined oils to help domestic refiners compete with cheaper imported refined oil. The duty cut 'not only ensures a level playing field for domestic refiners but also contributes to the stabilisation of edible oil prices for Indian consumers.

ET Market Watch: Sensex at 81K, Nifty Near 25K; RBI Rate Cut Hopes Boost Sentiment

Transcript Hi, you're listening to ET Markets Radio, I am your host Neha V Mahajan. Welcome to a fresh episode of ET Market Watch -- where we bring you the latest news from the world of stock markets every single day. Let's get to it: Markets ended on a high note today. The Sensex jumped 443 points to close at 81,442, and Nifty rose 131 points to end at 24,750 — after briefly flirting with the 24,900 mark during the day. What's driving the rally? - Pharma and Reliance Industries led the charge, while Nifty Realty and Pharma gained the most—up 1.75% and 1.3% respectively. IT and Metal followed with modest gains. - Broader markets were upbeat too—Smallcaps up 1%, Midcaps up 0.7%. - Rs 2.4 lakh crore was added to investor wealth today, pushing BSE's market cap to Rs 447.61 lakh crore. Now the global push: A weaker U.S. dollar and falling Treasury yields helped boost sentiment. The 10-year U.S. yield fell to 4.355%, raising hopes of a rate cut by the Fed. That's great news for emerging markets like India. Back home: All eyes are on the RBI's policy meeting tomorrow. Markets are betting on a 25 bps rate cut—that would make it the third cut in a row, a big boost for liquidity and growth. FIIs are back in buying mode, pumping in over Rs 1,000 crore, while DIIs continued their buying streak, investing over Rs 2,500 crore. And finally, crude oil prices dipped—Brent at $64.85—thanks to weak U.S. demand data and Saudi price cuts. A softer dollar, falling yields, rate cut hopes, and foreign inflows—India's market bulls have plenty to cheer!

Two Sharp with ET: Trump's feud with Musk a warning bell for markets, RBI slashes Repo rate to 5.5%

In today's episode of Two Sharp with ET, Nisha Poddar decodes the once bromance, now bitter dynamic between US President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, sending shivers of market volatility as government subsidies and projects lie on a thin thread of how the leaders address the situation. Musk last week received a warm farewell from the White House, but went all-out against the 'Big Beautiful' tax-spending bill of the Republicans. Trump said pulling EV subsidies make Musk 'go crazy,' and warned of cancelling relief. But Musk took it up a notch, threatening to decommission SpaceX's Dragon. Who will bite first in this battle of the feudal lords? The Reserve Bank of India cut the repo rate to 5.5% in a bold move to boost economic growth. While the 50 bps cut brings relief to borrowers with lower EMIs, it spells trouble for savers as banks slash fixed deposit and savings account interest rates. According to SBI Research, FD rates have dropped by 30–70 bps since February 2025, and savings rates have hit a floor of 2.70%. What does this mean for your money? Watch now for a quick breakdown.
