Sayeh Dedicates Morocco's Historic Futsal Title to Dguig
Morocco women's futsal coach Adil Sayeh dedicated his team's dramatic Africa Cup of Nations title win to Hicham Dguig, following their 3-2 comeback victory over Tanzania in Rabat.
The hosts lifted the first-ever Women's Futsal AFCON trophy after coming from 2-0 down to seal a late win in front of home fans.
'We dedicate this win to Hicham Dguig because he helped us a lot. After God, he's the one who brought me into the women's team and gave me his trust,' Sayeh said. 'Thank God I didn't let him down. He deserves this. We also won't forget the fans – they kept the belief when the players started to lose hope.'
Tanzania went two up in the first half through Katunzi and Rajabu. But Morocco pulled one back before the break thanks to Dhouha Madani. Idrissiya Krich equalised in the second half, and Jasmine Damraoui scored the winner in the final minute.
Sayeh said the win had special meaning because of the way the team fought back.
'We've been working hard for ten months. It was tiring, but today we saw the results. We give this trophy to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, our number one supporter,' he said.
He also thanked the Moroccan Football Federation and its president, Fouzi Lekjaa, for their backing.
'The Federation gave us everything. And I thank the fans – today was tough, but they helped us get over the line.'
'The players showed real character. If we had won easily, maybe people wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. But we stayed strong and got the job done. That's what champions do.'
Morocco dominated the tournament from start to finish. They topped their group with big wins over Namibia (8-1) and Cameroon (7-1), eased past Angola 5-1 in the semi-final, and came from behind to beat Tanzania in the final.
The win means Morocco's women join the men's team in dominating African futsal. With this continental triumph, they have also booked their place at the Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines later this year.

Brahim Diaz Out, Amine Zahzouh Gets First Morocco Call-Up
Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz has been ruled out of Morocco's upcoming friendlies against Tunisia and Benin with a muscle injury. Morocco team doctor Christophe Baudot confirmed the news on Tuesday, saying Diaz is continuing treatment at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. 'He won't be ready in time for the Tunisia match,' said Baudot. 'We'll assess his progress ahead of the second game.' Diaz started Madrid's final league match against Real Sociedad but was forced off in the 55th minute. His absence is a blow for Walid Regragui, who is already dealing with several injuries in the squad. Nayef Aguerd, Noussair Mazraoui, Ghanem Saïss and Chemsdine Talbi are all unavailable, while Abdessamad Ezzalzouli remains a doubt. In response, Regragui has handed a first senior call-up to FAR Rabat midfielder Amine Zahzouh, one of the standout players in Morocco's top flight this season. Zahzouh scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances, finishing the campaign as the Botola Pro's top playmaker. The 23-year-old was already training with Morocco's local-based national team at Maâmora and joined the senior squad for Tuesday's session. Morocco are preparing for two friendlies in Fez against Tunisia on June 6, and Benin on June 9. The matches are part of the build-up to next year's Africa Cup of Nations on home soil. Despite the growing injury list, the camp remains in high spirits. Tuesday's session included a guard of honour for players who won silverware with their clubs this season. Morocco Fans Left Fuming Over Ticket Prices for Tunisia Friendly
A group of Morocco supporters has hit out at the rising cost of tickets for the national team's upcoming friendly against Tunisia in Fez. The RossoVerdi ultras, known for backing the Atlas Lions home and away, said the unexpected price hike, especially in the popular curva sections, has priced out many loyal fans. They've urged the authorities to reconsider ahead of Monday's friendly against Benin at the same stadium. Anger has also spilled over on social media. Fans say tickets vanished quickly from official platforms, only to reappear in the black market at more than triple the original price. The Moroccan Football Federation has confirmed that Friday's match against Tunisia will be played behind closed doors, with all tickets now sold out. Tickets for the Benin match will go on sale from Wednesday. Fans can get them via the Webook website or app, with entry to the stadium available directly through digital passes. No need to print or collect anything. Prices for the Morocco-Benin game are as follows: VIP: MAD 600 Category 1: MAD 150 Category 2: MAD 100 Category 3: MAD 70 The organisers say the new system is designed to make entry easier and ensure matches are run smoothly, especially as the team gears up for major competitions later this year.
