Weekend Box Office Projections Favor ‘Sinners' Over ‘The Accountant 2'
Michael B. Jordan plays twins in "Sinners."
Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler's vampire thriller Sinners is staking out another victory at the domestic box office this weekend.
Sinners pulled off an impressive opening frame last weekend with $48 million in ticket sales from 3,308 North American theaters to seize the box office crown from A Minecraft Movie. The Jack Black and Jason Momoa video game adaptation dropped to No. 2, but its third-weekend take of $40.4 million from 4,032 theaters boosted its domestic tally to $343.8 million.
Two new big releases hit theaters this weekend — the Ben Affleck crime thriller The Accountant 2 and the movie adaptation of PlayStation Studio's hit video game Until Dawn — but neither film is projected to have enough power to knock Sinners from the top of the weekend box office perch.
Sinners, which reunites writer-director Coogler with his frequent star Jordan, is projected by Variety to haul in $25 million to $30 million in its second weekend. Box Office Pro is forecasting a heftier second-weekend take for Sinners, however, projecting a take of anywhere from $27 million to $35 million.
Deadline, though, is on the lower end of the second frame estimates for Sinners, forecasting anywhere from $19 million to $24 million.
As for A Minecraft Movie, Box Office Pro is projecting a domestic tally of $20 million to $25 million for the film's fourth weekend frame, while Deadline and Variety didn't forccast any estimates for it.
Jon Bernthal and Ben Affleck in "The Accountant 2."
Variety projects The Accountant 2 — the sequel to 2016's The Accountant — to earn $20 million to $25 million from 3,610 venues domestically, while Deadline is projecting a $20 million-plus opening for the Ben Affleck sequel.
Box Office Pro, however, sees a stronger debut for The Accountant 2 and projects a $22 million to $28 million opening frame domestically.
Both Variety and Deadline are forecasting the horror thriller Until Dawn — which is opening in 3,000 North American theaters — to debut in the same vicinity. Variety projects Until Dawn to earn $8 million to $10 million Friday through Sunday, while Deadline pegs it at $8 million to $9 million.
This weekend also features the 20th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which Variety projects will make anywhere from $20 million to $22 million.
Box Office Pro is projecting an $18 million to $23 million weekend for the third film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, while Deadline noted that the film has already sold $20 million to $25 million in ticket pre-sales.

Is The Pitt season 2 releasing in June 2025? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on June 14, 2025, 17:30 IST Last updated June 14, 2025, 11:32 IST The Pitt , Max's gripping medical drama starring Noah Wyle, has captivated audiences with its intense real-time storytelling and realistic portrayal of emergency room challenges. After a successful first season, fans are eager to know: Is The Pitt Season 2 releasing in June 2025? Here's everything we know so far. The Pitt Season 2 Release Date: Is June 2025 Possible? Despite some speculation, The Pitt Season 2 is not releasing in June 2025. Multiple reports, including Variety and TVLine, confirm that the second season is slated to premiere in January 2026. Max CEO Casey Bloys emphasized the show's annual release model, noting that Season 2 will debut exactly one year after Season 1's January 2025 premiere. This aligns with the production timeline, as filming began in June 2025, following a similar six-month post-production schedule as Season 1. The January 2026 release date allows Max to maintain a consistent schedule, avoiding the long gaps common in streaming series like House of the Dragon or The Last of Us . While a June 2025 release would have been exciting for fans, it's not feasible given the current production stage. What to Expect from The Pitt Season 2 Plot Season 2 of The Pitt will continue its unique real-time format, covering a single 15-hour shift over 15 episodes. Set approximately 10 months after Season 1, the new season will take place during the Fourth of July weekend, a notoriously chaotic time for emergency rooms due to fireworks accidents, heat-related illnesses, and alcohol-related injuries. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill revealed that this time jump allows for fresh storylines while catching up with the characters' development. A key focus will be on Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball), who was mandated to attend a 30-day rehab program in Season 1 after stealing medication. Season 2 will likely begin on Langdon's first day back at work, exploring his journey to regain trust, particularly with his mentor, Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch (Noah Wyle). Gemmill hinted at addressing broader healthcare issues, including disparities in care for people of color with diabetes, suggesting a socially relevant narrative. How to Watch The Pitt Season 2 The Pitt Season 2 will stream exclusively on Max, with episodes likely releasing weekly on Thursdays, following the Season 1 schedule. All 15 episodes of Season 1 are currently available on Max, allowing fans to catch up before the new season. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . 'And I was threatened with being stabbed so it became a real matter, in my mind, of life and death. 'So, I did things like, I remember kicking him back with my leg to create space in case he had a weapon on him… It was just a life-changing, crazy moment.' Bonnaroo 2025 Canceled Due to Severe Weather: ‘We Are Beyond Gutted'
After issuing an evacuation notice to attendees earlier Friday (June 13), the remainder of the 2025 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has now been canceled due to severe weather. The Manchester, Tennessee, festival shared the news on social media around 7:30 p.m. local time Friday, saying that the updated forecast was showing unsustainable conditions for on-site campers as heavy thunderstorms ripped through the area. More from Billboard Bonnaroo Tells Attendees to Evacuate As Severe Weather Approaches Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Head to Florida for Stanley Cup Final Twenty One Pilots Drop New Single, 'The Contract,' Detail North American Tour Dates 'Today, the National Weather Service provided us with an updated forecast with significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days,' the statement reads. 'We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo. We are going to make things right with you, and you will find refund information at the end of this message, but let's start with the next steps.' The message goes on to suggest that any campers whose sites are in decent shape or who are safely inside an RV consider camping overnight to prioritize evacuating those festivalgoers in the roughest situations. 'The number one thing we need from the Bonnaroo community is patience,' the message reads. 'Some of your fellow campers' sites are in rough shape. The rain has settled in areas and made certain parts of Outeroo difficult to manage. We'd like to prioritize getting those folks as well as those with accessibility needs off The Farm as soon as possible this evening. To do this, we ask that if your campsite is in good shape or if you're in an RV or pre-pitched accommodation, please consider spending the night with us and we'll start working to get you out of here safely tomorrow.' The festival wrapped its message by reiterating how 'crushed' organizers are to make this decision. 'We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision. Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit.' As promised, the post ends with refund details, spelling out what tickets and parking passes will be refunded in full and what will be returned in part since Thursday's day 1 went off without a hitch.
