EAM Jaishankar meets Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in Delhi
New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan on Thursday, ahead of the fourth edition of the India-Central Asia Dialogue.
He shared the details of the meetings through several posts on X.
Upon meeting the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, the EAM said, 'Pleased to meet DPM & FM Murat Nurtleu of Kazakhstan this morning. Appreciated his reaffirmation of zero tolerance for terrorism. Discussed various facets of our Strategic Partnership focusing on political, trade, investment and energy cooperation. Also spoke about widening connectivity with the Central Asia region.'

Notably, the two leaders also signed a Program of Cooperation to further strengthen India-Kazakhstan ties.

EAM Jaishankar also met the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov.

A warm exchange on deepening our cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, connectivity, health and energy sectors. Welcome his strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.'

The External Affairs Minister also met the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
He noted that the two leaders held discussions on counter-terrorism, trade and investment among other areas.

Earlier in the day, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin; Zheenbek Kulubaev, Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, also arrived in Delhi to participate in the fourth India-Central Asia Dialogue.
The India-Central Asia Dialogue, launched in Samarkand in 2019, is a key ministerial platform aimed at strengthening ties between India and the Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The earlier editions of the Dialogue have focused on regional security, counter-terrorism, connectivity, and economic cooperation. This year's meeting is expected to build on those priorities, with discussions on trade, infrastructure, technology, and joint development initiatives.
India shares centuries-old cultural and historical connections with the Central Asian region. Buddhism spread from India through Tibet to Central Asia, leaving a spiritual legacy visible at key sites such as Kara Tepe, Fayaz Tepe, and Adzhina Tepe. Indian monks helped translate scriptures and establish monasteries across the region, forming the early basis of engagement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to all five Central Asian nations in 2015 gave a major boost to the India-Central Asia ties. His participation in successive Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summits in Tashkent, Bishkek, and Samarkand further reinforced India's outreach. The first India-Central Asia Summit, held virtually in January 2022 and attended by the Presidents of all five nations, led to the adoption of the Delhi Declaration, institutionalising biennial summits and regular ministerial dialogues. 'US with India in fight against terror': Deputy Secretary of State tells Indian delegation
WASHINGTON: The US stands strong with India in the fight against terrorism, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau told Congress MP Shashi Tharoor-led all-party delegation here to convey India's stance on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The Indian delegation met Landau here on Friday as it wrapped up the crucial US leg of its multi-nation tour, briefing key interlocutors about Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. "The all-party parliamentary delegation led by Dr. @ShashiTharoor had a warm and candid conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State Landau. The Indian delegation briefed him on the atrocities of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor," the Indian Embassy said on X. Landau, in a post on X, said it was a "GREAT" meeting with the Indian parliamentary representatives. "I reaffirmed that the US stands strong with India in the fight against terrorism. We discussed the US-India strategic relationship, including expanding trade and commercial ties to foster growth and prosperity for both countries," he said. A statement issued by State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Landau "reaffirmed the United States' strong support of India in the fight against terrorism and the strategic partnership between the two countries." The delegation discussed with Landau the importance of advancing key areas of the bilateral relationship, including expanding trade and commercial ties to foster economic growth and prosperity in both countries, according to the statement. The embassy, in a statement said, that during the meeting with Landau, the delegation briefed him on the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, discussed India's subsequent Operation Sindoor, and put forth India's firm resolve to counter cross-border terrorism in all its forms. "The deputy secretary reaffirmed the United States' strong support for India in the fight against terrorism. The two sides also had a wide-ranging conversation on the importance of strengthening bilateral relationships through advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest," it said. The delegation also had a "productive meeting" with Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It briefed him on the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, discussed India's subsequent Operation Sindoor, and put forth India's firm resolve to counter cross-border terrorism in all its forms, the embassy said on X. The senator sympathised with the victims of repeated terror attacks in India, saying the US stood with India in the fight against terrorism, and expressed support for New Delhi's right to defend itself. Tharoor also spoke over the phone with Senator Cory Booker, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and described the conversation as "warm and productive." He briefed Booker on the "monstrous" terror attack in Pahalgam and outlined the repeated provocations of terrorism emanating from across the border, laid out the details of Operation Sindoor, and emphasised India's firm resolve in countering any future acts of terrorism. "Senator Booker unequivocally condemned terrorism and expressed sympathies with the victims. The conversation also touched upon broader themes in the India-US strategic partnership, which enjoys robust support," Tharoor said, adding that he hopes to meet Booker "Next time in person." Apart from Tharoor, the delegation comprises MPs Sarfaraz Ahmad, Ganti Harish Madhur Balayogi, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Milind Deora, Tejasvi Surya, and India's former Ambassador to the US Taranjit Sandhu. Several prominent American lawmakers and congressmen, as well as policy experts, attended a special reception hosted by the Indian Embassy on Thursday night and interacted with the delegation.

Bastar is now known for digital transformation, not fear: Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. During the meeting, he presented the changing face of Bastar, highlighting peace and development initiatives, and also briefed the Prime Minister about the recently held Su-Shasan Tihar (Good Governance Festival) in Chhattisgarh. During his visit to Delhi, the Chief Minister also called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence, where they discussed key issues, including state development and anti-Naxal operations. The Chief Minister stated that Bastar, once known for guns and landmines, is now witnessing the rise of mobile towers -- not just as tools of communication, but as symbols of progress and trust. He informed that in the past one and a half years, the state government has established 64 new forward security camps in the region. These camps have not only enhanced the sense of safety in nearby villages but have also brought mobile network connectivity to previously remote areas. A total of 671 mobile towers have been activated so far, with 365 of them providing 4G services. This marks the beginning of a digital revolution in tribal regions. 'Today, these mobile towers signify more than just connectivity,' the Chief Minister said. 'They represent a future where children and youth in Bastar are now part of the digital world. Where earlier they had to travel to cities to prepare for exams or access education, now the same opportunities are available in their own villages through online platforms. Young people in Bastar are shaping their own futures using smartphones,' he said. He also highlighted that villages around these security camps are now receiving basic amenities like electricity, drinking water, healthcare, and education. Under the Niyad Nellanar scheme, 18 community services and 25 government welfare schemes are being implemented simultaneously in 146 identified villages. The Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister on the success of Su-Shasan Tihar, during which hundreds of grievance redressal camps were organised. From MPs to MLAs, public representatives directly visited villages to address people's concerns. At these camps, citizens received services such as ration cards, Aadhaar updates, pensions, health check-ups, school admissions, Ayushman cards, PM Awas, and Ujjwala gas connections -- all under one roof. CM Sai also presented a detailed account of Chhattisgarh's initiatives and innovations in the field of water conservation. He emphasised that the state is working in mission mode to tackle water scarcity, combining community participation with technological interventions at every level. The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister that due to changing climate patterns, the number of rainy days in Chhattisgarh has reduced from around 100 to just 65 annually. In response, the state has launched a unique initiative titled 'Water Conservation Initiative - Chhattisgarh's Model for a Secure Future'. As part of this model, innovative water-saving methods are being adopted in villages. Where rainwater earlier flowed away, efforts are now being made to capture and store it. Technologies like GIS mapping and the Jaldoot mobile app are being used to identify critical areas in need of water infrastructure. Most significantly, women are playing a central role in this campaign. Women's groups are actively involved in cleaning and deepening ponds, reviving traditional water bodies, and promoting water stewardship in their communities. This collective effort is helping ensure clean and sufficient water in rural areas. Chief Minister Sai also informed the Prime Minister about the Nalanda Campus -- India's first 24x7 hybrid public library. Built at a cost of Rs 18 crore, the campus includes an e-library, youth tower, health zone, and solar-powered infrastructure. Over 11,000 students have benefited so far, with more than 300 successfully clearing UPSC and CGPSC exams. He also shared details about the Prayas model, which provides free coaching to underprivileged and tribal students for national-level exams such as IIT-JEE, NEET, and CLAT. So far, 1,508 students from this initiative have secured admission in prestigious institutions across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the Chief Minister's efforts and assured full support from the Central Government for Chhattisgarh's development journey. (ANI)
