FOUR-STAR KILDARE held off a late Sligo revival to clinch top spot in Group 1 and book their place in the Tailteann Cup quarter-finals.
Goals from Daniel Flynn (2), James McGrath and Alex Beirne had the Lilywhites leading by 11 points inside the final quarter at Dr Hyde Park.

But a string of two-pointers saw Sligo reel Kildare in and cut the gap to just four points before they ran out of time.
Tony McEntee's side finish as group runners-up and go into the draw for the preliminary quarter-finals, which takes place on Sunday evening at 6.15pm.
In Group 1′s other game, 1-1 apiece from Jack Flynn and Tom Prior helped Leitrim to a 3-9 to 0-10 win over Tipperary, but it wasn't enough to extend their summer as they finish with the worst record of the third-placed teams.
In Group 3, Antrim booked their place in the preliminary quarter-finals with a 1-22 to 0-14 win over London in Newry, substitute Niall Burns scoring the game's only goal late on.
Fermanagh are straight through to the last eight as Group 4 winners thanks to a 0-25 to 1-17 victory against Wexford in Sunday's curtain-raiser at Croke Park, Conor Love starring with an individual 0-9, eight from play.

Precious memories of the late Tommie Gorman shared at special Sligo event
Cathaoirleach Bree welcomed all attendees, with a special acknowledgment to Ceara Roche, wife of Tommie Gorman, along with extended family and friends, and those watching the live stream. Speaking at the event, Councillor Bree said: 'Tommie Gorman was many things: reporter, correspondent, interviewer, sportsman, mentor, friend, husband, father. But above all, he was a man of principle — rooted deeply in the place he called home, devoted to its people, and tireless in his efforts to shine a light on the stories that matter. 'His legacy will undoubtedly live on, not just in the archives of RTÉ, but in the heart of our county, in the stands of the Showgrounds, and in the countless lives he touched through his work and his unwavering commitment to others.' Leo Gray, retired sports editor of The Sligo Champion, and Niall Delaney of Ocean FM, joined moderator Adrian Eames, RTÉ sports commentator and producer, for a panel discussion covering Tommie Gorman's successful career as a journalist and correspondent, his lifelong love of Sligo, Sligo Rovers FC, and his unwavering commitment to helping others throughout his life. The stories, memories, and music shared throughout the evening formed a fitting tribute to this remarkable Sligo man. Contributions from the audience highlighting the support Tommie Gorman gave to numerous projects came from Kevin Colreavy, Sligo Rovers Heritage Committee; Simone Hickey, Lest Sligo Forgets; Colm McIntyre, Principal, Ursuline College Sligo; and Maura Gilligan, artist and writer. Seamie and Stephen O'Dowd provided a moving musical accompaniment, bringing the evening to a close with a poignant rendition of Thom Moore's beautiful song, 'Believe Me, Sligo.' The special edition of The Word was supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media through the Creative Ireland Programme, and can be viewed on the Sligo Libraries YouTube channel.

Venues for All-Ireland SFC group games announced as Donegal face longer trek
The final round of fixtures for the All-Ireland SFC group stage have been confirmed, with Donegal-Mayo fixed for Dr Hyde Park. Derry-Dublin, one of the other eye-catching ties as the group stages come to a climax, will be played at Newry's Páirc Esler, with no games for Croke Park, as expected. Mayo will be quietly pleased to be going to Roscommon, which is hardly a halfway house for the fixture, as it's a shorter trek, they play at the venue on a much more regular basis and have a good record there. Donegal boss Jim McGuinness had said that he didn't want the game to be played at Croke Park as 'our supporters have been through the ringer financially up to this point', though the alternative won't have taken much of the edge off in that respect. Sligo's Markievicz Park is a more natural neutral venue but it was off the table as works are being carried out on the playing surface there, though the game will be live on RTE on Sunday week. Both sides need a result to be sure of extending their season, with all four teams in Group One currently on two points each. The other game in the group, between Cavan and Tyrone, will be in Brewster Park in Enniskillen, also throwing in a 4pm. Earlier that afternoon, Group Three will see Louth-Clare take place in Portlaoise and Monaghan-Down in Armagh, both at 2pm. It will be a GAA+ live double header on Saturday week in Group Four, with Armagh and Galway facing off in Breffni Park at 6.30pm, while Dublin and Derry meet in a winner-takes-all tie in Newry. Earlier that day, Kerry and Meath will clash in Tullamore, while the Roscommon-Cork tie is fixed for Portlaoise and will also be live on GAA+. Saturday, June 14 Group Two Kerry v Meath, Glenisk O'Connor Park, 4.15pm Roscommon v Cork, Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 4.15pm, live on GAA+ Armagh v Galway, Breffni Park, 6.30pm, live GAA+ Dublin v Derry, Páirc Esler, 6.30pm, live GAA+ Sunday, June 15 Donegal v Mayo, King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park, 4pm, live on RTE Tyrone v Cavan, Brewster Park, 4pm Louth v Clare, Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 2pm Monaghan v Down, BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, 2pm, live on RTE
