Malayalam Director Sanal Sasidharan alleges plagiarism in Mohanlal-starrer 'Thudarum'
In a detailed Facebook post, Sasidharan alleged that the core structure of Thudarum closely mirrors that of Theeyattam, which he wrote in 2020. The filmmaker claims that the plot of his script, which revolves around an auto-rickshaw driver named Ambi who is falsely implicated in a murder case, has striking similarities to the storyline of Thudarum.
'I saw the movie Thudarum. It's made by stealing the skeleton of my screenplay Theeyattam, which I wrote in 2020. The core of it remains untouched perhaps because the makers lacked the intelligence to grasp it or deliberately rewrote it in an unrecognisable way,' he wrote.
Sasidharan pointed out what he believes is a significant "slip-up" by the Thudarum team the inclusion of a distinct dialogue from his script that he says had no contextual relevance in the film. The proverb in question, 'Konnaal paapam thinnaal theerum' (loosely translated as 'the sin of killing is absolved by eating the victim'), was, according to him, lifted directly from Theeyattam.

Vedan rape case: Police issue lookout circular against rapper
The Kochi City police in Kerala have issued a lookout circular against Malayalam rapper and songwriter Hirandas Murali, popularly known as Vedan, to stop him from flying out of the country. The circular was issued in connection with the rape case registered against him by the Thrikkakara police on July 30 on a doctor's complaint that Vedan allegedly abused her sexually on the promise of marriage. Senior police sources said the investigation was still under way and that the police have not yet moved to arrest him. The investigation also covers alleged financial transactions involving Vedan and the petitioner. The police were also verifying the petitioner's claim that some people were aware about the happenings. Their statements would be recorded. The incidents leading to the complaint were found to have taken place a few years ago. The case was registered by the Thrikkakara police after it was mentioned as one of the places where the alleged sexual abuse on the promise of marriage took place. Reportedly, the petitioner came forward with the complaint after she came across an account of another woman who have had similar experiences with Vedan that she allegedly faced. Vedan has faced sexual abuse allegations in the past during the height of the '#Me Too' movement. On April 28, 2025, the Hill Palace police in Kochi arrested Vedan along with eight other friends allegedly with six grams of ganja from his apartment near Vyttila. While he was released on bail in that case, he was immediately arrested by the Forest department after he was found possessing a leopard-tooth pendant. He claimed that it was gifted to him by a fan. He was later released on bail in that case as well. Since then, he had run-ins with the BJP and Sangh Parivar outfits after a BJP councillor of Palakkad municipality lodged a complaint against Vedan alleging that his music allegedly defamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promoted caste divisions.

Film PR, she says, is basically about building publicity around the release of a film. 'So, it involves coordinating interviews and media promotions, among other things. The promotions have to be planned differently for each film, depending on the subject, budget and star. You have to build a strategy around how to do it and work with the film's team on how to promote it,' says Manju, who started her career as a TV journalist and was encouraged to try film PR by filmmaker Jayaraj, while she worked as an RJ. UP Police constable held for motorcycle theft in Delhi to pay off his gambling debt
The Delhi Police last week arrested an Uttar Pradesh Police constable for allegedly stealing motorcycles in the national capital to pay off his gambling debts. The accused has been identified as Mohseen, 27, who was stationed at the 44 BN PAC on the Hapur Road in Meerut. The Delhi Police nabbed him from the Preet Vihar area of East Delhi on August 6 while conducting a patrol in Rajdhani Enclave. 'Based on a tip-off, the police detained a person named Mohseen and found two master keys, which are used to unlock vehicles, in his possession. He is from the Baraut area of Baghpat and could not tell any justified reason for his presence in the Preet Vihar area,' said Abhishek Dhania, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East. Upon further investigation, the police found that Mohseen had been employed as a constable in the UP Police since 2019. 'During sustained interrogation, he accepted his guilt and said he came to the Preet Vihar area for motorcycle theft and stole a Hero Splendour motorcycle from Preet Vihar on May 30,' DCP Dhania said. The police said Mohseen took a leave from August 5 to come to Delhi. CCTV footage of his May 30 theft showed that he used master keys in his possession to target the parked vehicle, said the police. The police tracked down one Vishal, 22, who purchased the Splendor bike that Mohseen stole in May. Vishal told the police that he bought the bike after seeing an advertisement on Mohseen's Facebook page. 'The accused targeted parked motorcycles in Delhi using master keys. After stealing the vehicle, he sold it in UP through personal contacts and social media platforms like Facebook. He used the money for gambling or paying off his debt. The engine and chassis numbers were tampered with to evade detection,' DCP Dhania said.
