Hype Malaysia23-07-2025
Fans never tire of hearing exciting news about their favourite K-pop idols coming to Malaysia for concerts, fan meetings, or special appearances at brand events. We're only halfway through 2025, and the list of stars set to visit our shores is constantly being updated.
Joining the list are three members of a popular boy group. Recently, Mister Potato Malaysia shared a photo featuring the silhouettes of three male idols, teasing K-pop fans with the news that they'll be making their way to Kuala Lumpur for a special appearance. Many made their guesses on who they could be, and it seems that the majority are correct!
Last week, Mister Potato Malaysia announced their Jinjja Crunch collaboration with SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) members Joshua, DK, and Dino. The announcement video features the idols posing with three different flavours of the popular snack; Original, BBQ and Sour Cream & Onion. While an official statement regarding their visit to Malaysia has yet to be confirmed, the singers themselves appeared to spoil the surprise by posting a behind-the-scenes vlog of them filming promotional content for the brand.
In the video posted yesterday (Tuesday, 22nd July), the members can be heard excitedly announcing that they'll be coming to Malaysia soon. 'We have 진짜 exciting news for you guys. We love you, Mister Potato! See you in Malaysia!' they said in the vlog. That particular moment quickly went viral among Malaysian fans, with many expressing their excitement about the visit.
Some commented on how surprised they were to hear the news directly from the members before the brand had made an official announcement. Others are hoping that the upcoming event will be held at a larger venue, rather than a shopping centre, to accommodate not only meet-and-greet winners but also other fans who wish to see them in person. However, Joshua, DK, and Dino were not the first to spoil the surprise as MAMEE-Double Decker Group CEO, Mr. Pierre Pang, previously posted on his IG Story about the event when the brand first teased about the collab.
At the time of writing, Mister Potato has yet to make the official announcement about the upcoming event with the 3 SEVENTEEN members. While we wait for more details, here's the behind-the-scenes vlog of the singers confirming their visit:

(Video) Is Wanna One Reunion Possible? Here's What Ha Sung Woon Said About A Group Comeback

Wanna One (워너원) remains one of the biggest boy groups in K-pop despite disbanding in 2019, following the end of their contract. After a brief reunion in 2021, fans continued hoping that the group would reunite once again and return to the stage. Recently, singer and Wanna One member Ha Sung Woon (하성운) appeared on the YouTube series 'Kstars Next Door' with INFINITE (인피니트) member Nam Woo Hyun (남우현). During the show, Wanna One came into the subject, prompting host Jonathan to ask Ha Sung Woon about a potential group comeback. The social media personality asked, 'Since we're on the topic of Wanna One, when can we expect a Wanna One reunion? Can we get an update on this?'. In response to the question, Ha Sung Woon replied, 'Do you want me to be honest? On a scale of ten steps, I don't think we've even taken a step towards a reunion.' The 31-year-old explained, 'The reason is that someone enlists in the military whenever we try to do something. When one person is discharged, another person enlists. And we also have members acting so they don't focus on this.' Ha Sung Woon also noted that each member of Wanna One is busy with their activities, so there are no set plans for a group comeback. Understandably, the singer's comment received mixed responses. Some fans lamented that the idol used his former groupmates' acting careers to dismiss the possibility of a group comeback. However, others defended the comment, saying it's a realistic answer without giving fans false hope of a reunion. After their group contract expired, the members of Wanna One pursued individual activities, including solo careers in singing and acting. However, members Ong Seong Wu (옹성우) and Park Ji Hoon (박지훈) focused on acting, with the latter recently starring in Netflix's 'Weak Hero'. Meanwhile, member Lai Kuan Lin (賴冠霖/라이관린) announced his retirement from the entertainment industry last year to focus on film directing. While it doesn't seem that a Wanna One comeback is possible, fans are still holding on to a sliver of hope that it could happen in the future. Park Bo-gum, Blackpink's Jennie named South Korea's tourism ambassadors for 2025

Actor Park Bo-gum (left) was named the honorary ambassador for 2025 Korea Tourism, while singer Jennie was tapped as the honorary ambassador to promote tourism in Seoul. Photos: Handout South Korean actor Park Bo-gum has been officially named the honorary ambassador for 2025 Korea Tourism at a ceremony in Seoul on July 29. Park, 32, who recently starred in the hit K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines (2025), appears in three separate tourism videos, including a music video for On My Way . Performed by the actor himself, the original song is the result of a collaboration between the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO), South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the K-pop industry. Park said at the event that one of his favourite places is the area surrounding Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung. 'But I hope you'll also explore regions outside of Seoul. I'd especially recommend Busan, where I recently filmed (TV series) Good Boy ,' he added. He also recommended Seoul's public bike-sharing service, Seoul Bike, officially known as Ddareungi. 'I love riding a Ddareungi along the Han River,' the star said. 'If you haven't tried it yet, I'd really like to introduce you to it.' First launched in 2015, South Korea's tourism promotional videos, featuring celebrities such as boy band BTS, actor Lee Jung-jae and girl group NewJeans, have drawn increasing global attention, particularly following the breakout success of the Feel The Rhythm Of Korea series in 2020. It has since become a cultural phenomenon, with its videos collectively amassing more than 240 million views across multiple platforms. Meanwhile, Jennie of K-pop girl group Blackpink will lend her star power to Seoul, the Seoul Tourism Organisation announced on July 29. The South Korean singer was tapped as the honorary ambassador to promote tourism in the capital city in 2025, and a campaign video featuring the 29-year-old will be unveiled on July 31. Under the catchphrase 'Absolutely in Seoul', the first promotional video – Daltokki – will follow Jennie as she explores spots in Seoul, from Gyeongbokgung to Seongsu-dong. The second video will incorporate her song Seoul City (2025), from her first solo full-length album Ruby , released in March. In 2024, South Korea welcomed approximately 16.37 million overseas visitors, a 48.4% increase from the previous year and reaching 94% of the pre‑Covid‑19 peak of around 17.5 million in 2019, according to the KTO. The country aims to attract 18.5 million overseas visitors in 2025. – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network

Wellness meets style: ITSU launches VVS

South Korean superstar and ITSU VVS product ambassador Park Shin Hye at the launch in 1Utama Shopping Centre. IT was a glamorous afternoon at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya on July 27 as Malaysian wellness brand ITSU unveiled its latest offering: the VVS – a revolutionary 'workout sofa' that fuses sleek home design with cutting-edge vertical vibration therapy. The launch event had no shortage of star power, with South Korean actress, singer and model Park Shin Hye officiating the grand launch at Ground Floor, LUXE. Fans and shoppers gathered in excited anticipation as Shin Hye – ITSU VVS product ambassador revealed the chic workout sofa — a modern piece designed for those who want to look good, feel good, and live well, all from the comfort of their living room. Shin Hye graced the launch with her signature on ITSU VVS, followed by a warm welcome from the ITSU chief executive officer Datuk Eric Cheah. Shin Hye was greeted by Cheah at the event. 'I feel honoured to be the face of ITSU VVS. ITSU is very popular in Malaysia, and I'm glad I finally got to try it out,' she beamed. When asked about the commercial shoot, she chuckled, 'Filming ads usually drains me, but VVS was so comfortable, I felt like I got a power boost instead.' The event concluded on a high note with a cheerful group photo alongside the ITSU team. To make the celebration even sweeter, ITSU rolled out an irresistible grand launch deal, giving lucky customers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to bring home the VVS through its 'RM0 Price' promotion. After the unveiling, Shin Hye made a special appearance at IOI City Mall, where she was warmly greeted by Selangor princess Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The actress and the Princess had a heartfelt chat as Shin Hye answered a series of fun, hypothetical questions submitted by fans – posed by the Princess herself – a royal touch that elevated the event beyond a typical celebrity meet-and-greet. From left: Tyson Ng, Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Park Shin Hye and Safreena Sairee at the launch. This was followed by a group photo session with IOI City Mall manager Safreena Sairee, and ITSU representative, Tyson Ng. Designed for the modern urban home, the ITSU VVS – endorsed by the Hong Kong Health Care Federation – is an elegant lifestyle companion. Clad in silky-smooth, wrinkle-resistant velvet, the VVS is available in four serene shades — Lavender, Misty Jade, Light Rose and Ocean Blue — chosen to complement contemporary interiors while inviting daily use. At its core lies vertical vibration therapy, a gentle yet effective innovation engineered to mimic the impact of a workout without the wear and tear of rigorous exercise. With a precise 3.2mm vertical vibration therapy, the VVS delivers fast-paced, up-down propulsion that stimulates muscle contractions — similar to skipping rope, minus the impact. At lower settings, the vibrations become soothing, offering a massage-like effect that's both calming and restorative. 1Utama advertising and promotions team Yap Yee Leng (second from left), Bryan Chin (fourth from left), and Chai Ai Ping (fifth from left) together with the ITSU team. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered: a metal pull ring doubles as a handle to detach the seat for standing workouts or a handy magazine rack, while the 5cm high-density cushion ensures lasting comfort and structure. In addition to that, the ergonomic 45cm seat height is just right for effortless sitting and standing. Whether you're winding down after a long day or sneaking in a quick wellness boost between meetings, the ITSU VVS blends form and function to support your lifestyle with quiet sophistication.
