Police called after Bellshill dog dies during heatwave
The family are devastated after they claim their dog was 'dumped' in their home after being taken out by a dog walker.
The Daily Record reports that the dog walker told Mandy's daughter, "he had taken Shelby on a 20-minute walk and the pet was returned to the house feeling no ill effects."
The newspaper claims a neighbour's Ring doorbell camera captured the dog walker carrying Shelby in his arms up the garden path before she was left in Mandy's house.

Mandy, who suffers from poor health, says she's "heartbroken" and "traumatised" after finding Shelby lifeless on the floor.
Her family told the publication that they "don't know how she'll cope" as the dogs were "like her children."
The family contacted the police in connection with Shelby's death; however, officers confirmed that advice was given and that there is no further police involvement.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.15pm on Tuesday, 12 August, 2025 we received a report of a dead dog at a property in Mossend, Bellshill.
"Appropriate advice was given to the reporter, and there is no further police involvement."
The family say they've opened an investigation with the SSPCA and hope to get some answers as they cope with the tragic loss.

Renfrewshire Council can now call upon app to tackle antisocial behaviour in area
The technology allows users to collect and submit noise recordings, diary sheets and videos. Renfrewshire Council can now call upon an app as a tool for its tenants to report antisocial behaviour (ASB) after a pilot took place earlier this year. The technology – which allows users to collect and submit noise recordings, diary sheets and videos – is not intended as a standalone measure but to bolster other resources. Evidence could be used to strengthen investigations but the council has stressed it is not a replacement for the agencies that are available to tackle the problem. A report to next Tuesday's communities and housing policy board provided an update on the initiative and explained how it is likely to be used. It said: "The ASB App is a digital method of reporting and recording antisocial behaviour in real time and offers an additional means of reporting, particularly outwith office hours. "This is not a standalone tool but is intended to complement existing resources and appropriate evidence can be used to strengthen investigations nor is it a replacement for agencies that are available to witness and tackle antisocial behaviour in the communities e.g. Police Scotland, community safety wardens, noise enforcement officers. "Housing services, following the initial pilot, can now offer use of the antisocial behaviour app (the ASB app) to our tenants across Renfrewshire. Cases are assessed on an individual basis with strict criteria applied for use of the app. "Housing officers will consider whether there are ongoing issues that have been slow to resolve, whether the layout of the building would restrict the number of potential witnesses and if neighbours are unwilling to offer corroboration, for a variety of reasons." Each of the area housing teams has a trained "super-user" who will support council officers using the app. Guidance has been issued on criteria, managing expectations and handling audio and visual images. The report added: "As the local housing area teams are now using the ASB app at an operational level, the council's website has been updated to reflect this, thus ensuring we are being transparent and using the system overtly. "A demonstration of the ASB app for elected members will be September 8."

Austin Ironside: Tributes to 'always smiling' 25-year-old - as suspect appears in court charged with murder and robbery
A suspect has appeared in court charged with murder and robbery following the death of a young man in Aberdeen. Austin Ironside, 25, was found injured in the city's Skene Street at about 3.10pm on Sunday 3 August. He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he died two days later. Police Scotland arrested and charged Scott Adams, 46, in connection with the "suspicious" death. Adams appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday where he made no plea to the charge of murder and robbery. The suspect, from Aberdeen, was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days. Following Mr Ironside's death, his family said: "Austin was popular, with friends across the city, and would do anything to help others. "He was always smiling and his infectious laugh brought light into the lives of everyone who knew him. "We are all devastated by what has happened and would like privacy at this terrible time." The probe continues and is being led by detectives from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team. A force spokesperson said enquiries remain ongoing and officers are "following a positive line of enquiry".
