Caitlin Clark won't rush injury return as Fever outlook remains murky
Caitlin Clark will not be back on the court by this weekend's slate of games — including a date with the Chicago Sky — but the Fever superstar will be reevaluated over the weekend and expects to be 'day-to-day' afterward.
The biggest name in women's basketball has been sidelined for at least two weeks with a quad strain that was revealed on Memorial Day.
'See how I feel, and just turn to the medical staff and what they think,' Clark told reporters. 'I feel like I've made a lot of progress and I feel good, and I'm not going to rush coming back. It's just not worth it. But after this weekend, I'll be re-evaluated and we'll have a better idea of when I'll return.'

Clark has missed three games so far because of the injury, though there is some hope she could be back as early as Tuesday.
Indiana would happily welcome Clark back into the lineup with the Dream and Liberty on deck after they face the Sky over the weekend.

Clark did hedge any talk of a return by Tuesday with a 'we'll see.'
'We're trying not to put an exact date out there, because it is kind of a day-by-day thing and see how I feel,' Clark said. 'It's the type of injury like, you don't know, when I wake up, I'll feel different than the day before. We'll see. It could be a possibility, but I could also not be available for that game, too.'

The injury occurred during the Fever's loss to the Liberty on May 24 and the current stretch marked the first time in her time in college basketball and in the pros that she's missed any games.

The Fever have gone 1-2 without Clark in the lineup and has been averaging 19.0 points per game and 9.3 assists per game this season before the injury.

CHICAGO -- Head coach Steph White won't be at the Fever's game against the Chicago Sky on Saturday night, a team spokesperson confirmed to IndyStar on Saturday morning. White was not with the team on Friday during practice because of personal reasons, and her status was previously to be determined for Saturday's game. While Pearl and his staff are unlikely to scheme up a schedule as difficult as last year's version, the Tigers will certainly hope to once again build up themselves before the grinding nature of the SEC season. That process, which has already included an appearance in a loaded 'Players Era' tournament field and home-and-home series contests against Houston, Purdue, and Arizona, continued this week, as CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein reported the Tigers are set to A-Sun program Queens to close out the 2025 portion of the schedule. The game, which is reportedly set for Dec. 29 at Neville Arena, will signal the second season in a row Auburn has hosted a team from the Atlantic Sun. Bruce Pearl's Auburn Tigers will likely be heavily favored in their final game before they ring in the new year, but the Royals, like North Alabama last year, play in a conference loaded with talent across the board.
