Police are appealing for help after a man walking through a housing estate in a Suffolk town was assaulted leaving him in need of hospital treatment.
Suffolk police say the incident happened at about 3pm on Thursday, August 8, on the Clements Estate, Haverhill.
The victim, an adult male, was walking away from the shops on Leiston Road when he was assaulted causing him to lose consciousness. A credit card was stolen from him.
He required hospital treatment after the assault and has since been discharged.
Suffolk police said that the number of suspects involved in the assault, which took place between Harewood Terrace and the square sloped path area, was unknown.
A police spokesperson said: "Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any knowledge surrounding the circumstances.
"This happened on a summer afternoon with members of the public likely close by and police need to trace, interview and eliminate (TIE) everyone present in the area.
"It is also possible that a well-meaning member of the public helped the victim away from the scene and we also need to speak to whoever this may have been. Police are also keen to speak to anyone who saw persons running away from this area in any direction around this time.
"Police are aware of CCTV in the area and the reason for the delay in the witness appeal is due to circumstances beyond our control that cannot be openly disclosed."

Mother says her 7-month-old baby was kidnapped outside a California mall after she was attacked

Police are searching for a seven-month-old boy who was reportedly kidnapped in San Bernardino County, California. On Thursday, the boy's mother, Rebecca Haro, reported that she was attacked outside a business in Yucaipa. Officers responded to the call at approximately 7:47 p.m. and were told the woman's child was missing. The boy has been identified as Emmanuel Haro. The mother said her son was kidnapped after she was attacked. Police brought scent-tracking dogs to try to locate the child, but the dogs were unable to lead authorities to the missing boy. The mother told NBC LA Friday that she had just removed her son from his car seat at the plaza when she was hit from behind. She is from Cabazon, 90 miles east of Los Angeles, and was in Yucaipa for her older son's youth sports game. "I noticed a smell from my baby so I wanted to change him before going into the store," she told the broadcaster. "I took him out of the car seat and I laid him on the chair. I had his diapers here and someone said, 'Hola.' I couldn't turn and I don't remember nothing. I got up from the floor and didn't see my child. Someone took him from me." Police did not release details about the attack or any description of the attacker or attackers. As the search for the child continues, investigators said on Saturday they 'cannot rule out foul play.' Police interviewed Jake and Rebecca Haro, the boy's parents. 'During those interviews, Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,' the sheriff's office said in a Saturday update. Authorities said the search for the child continues. Emmanuel's parents are urging anyone with information to come forward. 'Whoever took my son, please return him,' Jake Haro told KTLA. 'We just want him back. We won't do anything to you. Just give us our son. Keep him safe, don't hurt him, make sure you feed him and change him.' 'If you know anything, please come forward or take him to the cops,' Rebecca told the outlet. 'Please come and bring my son back. I'm begging you.' Local law enforcement is also asking for the public's help to find the child. The infant was last seen wearing a Nike onesie, and weighs approximately 21 pounds. The boy stands about 24 inches tall and has brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the San Bernardino Sheriff's Dispatch at 909-387-8313.

'Somebody knows': Grandmother of Edmonton teen killed in hit-and-run speaks out

Ellen Metcalfe was at an eye appointment last week when she broke down in tears. She had just received news that police had located the vehicle they believe was involved in the death of her 13-year-old grandson last year in south Edmonton. Police released a photo of a blue 2017 Mazda 3 allegedly connected to the death of Adam (AJ) Edhi on May 29, 2024. 'I felt absolute shock and disbelief,' Metcalfe said in a phone interview with Postmedia earlier this week from her home near Okotoks, roughly 50 km south of Calgary. 'Now we have the suspect car, but we don't know anything else. Finding that car is a gift in a sense, but at the same time, we still don't have all the answers.' The photo shows substantial damage to the front end of the driver's side of the vehicle. Investigators found the damaged sedan in a repair shop in Edmonton. The car had yet to receive any repairs or alterations, said police in a release. Police said the car's driver is still at large, and are seeking tips from the public to help identify and locate a suspect. The development comes on the heels of police releasing a video of the suspect vehicle in early July. 'You can see the damage. He (Adam) was in the driver's line of site. When you look at the car, how could you miss (seeing) him? He was right there, but you were driving too fast,' said Metcalfe. 'I feel like there are people out there helping to hide this person. We need someone from the public to come forward. Someone has to know who drives that car.' Metcalfe said there isn't a day goes by that she doesn't have questions rolling around in her head. Who did it? Why did they leave her grandson to die on the side of the road? 'When I saw the (media) report, I felt totally sideswiped. I just broke down and tears were streaming down my face. I just kept saying, 'They caught the car, they caught the car,'' said Metcalfe. Just after 4 a.m. on May 29, 2024, Edhi was riding his bike to his girlfriend's house to spend time with her before the two ventured off to school, when he was struck and killed. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of 34 Avenue, east of 48 Street. Metcalfe said her daughter, Jessa Lynch, has received negative messages online from people over the past year, because of the time when the collision occurred. 'I see them attacking my daughter online saying, 'Why is a child out at that time?' Even a year after, they're attacking her parenting skills. Have you ever been a teenager in love, and sneak out of the house?' said Metcalfe. 'Why is she being held to a standard above everybody else. It upsets me so much the way they attack her. We're all hurting and grieving, and she's a wonderful mother who sacrifices so much for her kids. They always come first.' 'Somebody knows whose car that is' Metcalfe said she firmly believes police are making progress in the case, but it doesn't hide the fact that when they release new information, it hits hard. 'It shocks you, it numbs you. It brings that moment forward,' said Metcalfe. 'Somebody knows whose car that is.' Metcalfe said her grandson's death has left the family reeling with so many unanswered questions. It's been 15 months, and they still don't know if and when an arrest will be made. 'Every day that goes by is a day too long for them to be enjoying freedom. All of Adam's friends and family feel like we're all in a tiny jail cell waiting to find out who took him away from us,' she said. 'We need answers as a family. We need to know. It's very draining emotionally. We just want a name, someone to put our anger and pain towards. We need justice.' Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Edmonton police.
