Sridhar urges Taiwanese to invest in TG's booming textile sector
Highlighting the abundant opportunities available in Telangana compared to other Indian states, the Minister underscored the state's rapid emergence as a formidable player in the textile industry. On Friday, a high-level Taiwanese textile delegation, comprising 11 members and led by Justin Huang, President of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), paid a courtesy visit to the Minister at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
'Within a short span, Telangana has made significant strides in the textile sector, positioning itself on par with other leading states,' the Minister stated. He noted that the Gross State Value Added (GSVA) from industries for 2024-25 stands at Rs 2.77 lakh crore, with textiles playing a key role. 'Telangana produces some of the finest quality cotton in India,' he added.
Sridhar Babu emphasised that the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), developed with special focus by the state government, has become a 'game-changer.' He explained that KMTP offers integrated, world-class infrastructure — from ginning, spinning, weaving, and processing to garmenting — all in one place. 'Leading companies like Youngone, Kitex, and Ganesha Ecosphere have already invested here,' he confirmed. The park is strategically connected to the Hyderabad–Nagpur–Vijayawada Industrial Corridor and benefits from excellent logistics and transport infrastructure. He pointed out vast opportunities for investment in areas like functional textiles, eco-friendly dyeing, and textile recycling.
The Minister also assured the visiting delegation of the Telangana Government's commitment to driving industrial growth through global partnerships. 'We offer customised land parcels, plug-and-play facilities, a skilled workforce, effective leadership, a stable government, and strategic geographic advantage,' he stated. He further noted that sectors such as technical textiles, ESDM (Electronics System Design & Manufacturing), sustainable manufacturing, innovation, and R&D are ideal for collaboration with Taiwanese enterprises.
Minister Sridhar Babu also proposed that, should Taiwanese investors come forward, the government would explore setting up a dedicated Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone and exclusive Textile Clusters. He reaffirmed Telangana's readiness to work closely with the Taiwan Textile Federation for the sector's growth.

Lenskart IPO: Peyush Bansal-led Indian eyewear company Lenskart has received the approval of its shareholder to raise ₹ 2,150 crore through a fresh issue of shares, reported MoneyControl, citing people aware of the development. According to news report, the company filed its corporate action development with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs' (MCA) Registrar of Companies (RoC), as per the data accessed by TheKredible. The proposal to raise money via an IPO was reportedly given the green light at the company's annual general meeting on 26 July 2025, said the report, adding, the eyewear company is expected to file its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the capital markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), in the upcoming days. The overall IPO size is expected to be around $1 billion or ₹ 8,500 crore, which includes a secondary offer-for-sale (OFS) component by the existing investors, the report added. Earlier this month, Mint reported that the eyewear company's founder, Peyush Bansal, is looking to buy a 1.5-2% stake in the eyewear retailer worth about $150 million from existing investors ahead of its planned IPO. Peyush is buying small stakes from a bunch of investors. This is being negotiated at around $7-8 billion valuation. Existing investors like TR Capital, Chiratae, Softbank and Kedaara Capital are expected to sell their stake as part of the deal. Over the years, the company has raised $1.08 billion in funding across 19 rounds, including its latest Series I round for $18.2 million on 21 July 2023. It has received investments from various firms, including SoftBank Vision Fund, TPG, and Chiratae Ventures. Kotak Mahindra Capital, Axis Capital, Citi, Morgan Stanley, and Avendus Capital are the company-appointed book-runners for the IPO, which is soon expected to hit Dalal Street. The company was founded in 2010, and since then, it has emerged as one of the biggest players in the Indian eyewear industry. It has 2500 retail outlets across the nation and a presence globally, such as in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Negi accuses BJP of insulting national flag
Shimla, Jul 27(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi has strongly criticized BJP leaders and a few local businessmen in Thunag for allegedly insulting the national flag during a protest against the government's decision to shift the Horticulture College from Thunag to a safer location. Negi defended the Congress government's move to relocate the college, citing the recent flash floods and the risk to students' lives. "It is wrong to run a college in a disaster-prone area just to protect business interests of a few people," he said, adding that students living in rented homes in Thunag had themselves requested relocation due to repeated disasters in 2023 and 2024. The Minister said that BJP workers and a handful of shopkeepers tried to block the state government's decision and even created a scene during his visit to the area. 'They surrounded my vehicle, threw black cloths and a slipper-like object at it, and disrespected the tricolour mounted on the car,' he alleged. 'This act amounts to treason,' he added. Negi also questioned the BJP's silence over the incomplete infrastructure of the college. "Out of the total Rs 270 crore sanctioned, only Rs 10 crore was spent when BJP was in power," he claimed. He said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is personally monitoring the situation and relief work is going on without any resistance from the common people. 'Only some BJP leaders and businessmen are trying to politicize the issue,' Negi said. Negi further targeted BJP leader Dr. Rajeev Bindal, saying, 'The real shameful act is the insult of the national flag, not the relocation of the college meant to save lives.' Jhalawar tragedy: Govt fast-tracks 169cr plan to repair state schools
Jaipur: Following the school building collapse in Jhalawar that killed seven children and injured 21, the state administration has approved Rs 169.5 crore for major repair works in 1,936 govt schools. On Saturday, education minister Madan Dilawar said, "State govt has approved Rs 169.5 crore for major repair works in 1,936 govt schools." Officials from the minister's team said the amount was approved as per the current year's budget announcement. Speaking on the timing of the approval, Satish Gupta, the minister's officer on special duty (OSD), said, "The file was already in process, and now the approval has been received from the finance department. Orders will also be issued soon on this." Dilawar could not be reached for comments. Sources said approvals for major repair works were "in process" for the past two months but were fast-tracked only after the accident in Jhalawar. On Sunday, following a high-level meeting chaired by the education minister, a new proposal of Rs 150 crore was announced for repair works in 7,500 schools in 170 tehsils. The financial contribution, which will come from the Disaster Management Fund, will be used for the repair of schools damaged due to the monsoon rains. The department has also asked its officials to conduct field inspections of govt schools across the state and submit a report on the condition of the buildings by July 30.
