Jason Bateman Is Jude Law's Scraggly Brother in First Look at Netflix Series ‘Black Rabbit'
'Black Rabbit,' Netflix's upcoming limited series starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, has set a September premiere date and dropped a first look at the new show.
The new series will premiere Sept. 18 on Netflix, the streamer announced Thursday alongside several first-look images of Bateman and Law as estranged brothers, which you can see below.
Set against the backdrop of New York City's high-pressure nightlife scene, 'Black Rabbit' centers on two brothers who are pushed to the brink by their duty to family and their pursuit of success, per the official logline.
Law stars as Jake Friedken, the charismatic owner of Black Rabbit, a restaurant and VIP lounge, poised to become the hottest spot in New York, whose world turns inside out when his brother, Vince (Bateman) returns to the business unexpectedly. Also returning with Vince are old traumas and new dangers that threaten to bring down everything they have built, per the logline.
In addition to Bateman and Law, 'Black Rabbit' also stars Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Chris Coy, Dagmara Dominczyk, Odessa Young and Robin De Jesus.
Zach Baylin and Kate Susman created 'Black Rabbit,' and executive produce the series alongside Bateman, who also directs the first two episodes. Additional EPs include Baylin and Susman's Youngblood Pictures, Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez's Aggregate Films; Law and Ben Jackson's Riff Raff Entertainment and Automatik's Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Andrew Hinderaker, Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon and Erica Kay.
Bateman also reunites with 'Ozark' star Laura Linney, who directs episodes 3 and 4. Ben Semanoff and Justin Kurzel also directed two episodes each.

The circumstances of their relationship are never disclosed. Celine, a former Hunter and Rumi's guardian, avoided talking about Rumi's parentage, disregarding her demon side. Rumi – and the audience – are never given answers about her past. Though Netflix hasn't announced if there will be a sequel, Kang says there's more to the story they wanted to tell – especially when it came to Rumi's heritage as part Hunter and part Demon, and the reason behind Celine's aversion towards demons. There's so much they wanted to add – Rumi's parentage, Celine's background, and the mythology behind Derpy the tiger and Sussie the six-eyed bird. Kang has many more ideas for her characters and the story. After finishing her film, she did think about a live-action version of the animated film. After watching the new live-action How To Train Your Dragon movie, she mentioned that director Dean DeBlois, who directed the original animated films, did a wonderful job. She thought what it would be like to have a live-action KPop Demon Hunters. She understands that comes with its own challenges. 'I really enjoyed [How To Train Your Dragon],' says Kang. I was sitting in the theater thinking, I wonder if anybody would want to see a live-action KPop Demon Hunters. What would that be like? How would that go?' Until then, Kang is enjoying the response to the film and the music. She's so proud to see a Korean story resonate with everyone. 'I had so many crew members [and people] tell me how much this movie meant to them – and they weren't even Korean,' says Kang. 'They loved learning about our culture and being part of something different. [People have told me], 'I'm watching more K-dramas,' and 'I'm going to Korea,' or 'I'm taking K-pop dance lessons.' It was just so amazing as a director to see people love this movie and fall in love with the culture. I really appreciated the studios for taking a risk on something that is a full Asian cast, too. Liam Payne's Sister Shares Heartbreaking Reaction To Seeing His Final TV Appearance
The sister of late singer Liam Payne is sharing her grief as the release of her brother's final television project draws near. Payne will appear as a celebrity judge on Netflix's 'Building the Band,' set for release July 9. The former One Direction member is joined on the musical competition series by fellow pop stars Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger, while AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys serves as the show's host. On Wednesday, Payne's sister Ruth Gibbins admitted she was 'heartbroken' after viewing the 'Building the Band' trailer. 'I didn't know whether to share this, but it felt weird when I've raved about Liam's work and achievements for the last 15 years,' she wrote on her Instagram Stories. 'Im heartbroken he never got to see how great he is in this show. He knew he had done a good job, we all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow!' A toxicology report later concluded that the singer had multiple substances in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine, crack cocaine and benzodiazepines. The report also indicated the presence of 'pink cocaine,' which refers to a cocktail of drugs that can include substances like ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine and sometimes caffeine or opioids. 'Building the Band' will mark an on-screen reunion between Payne and Scherzinger, who is credited alongside record executive and TV personality Simon Cowell with the formation of One Direction in 2010. Scherzinger, who earlier this month nabbed a Tony Award for her performance in Broadway's 'Sunset Boulevard,' had reportedly been exchanging texts with Payne on the morning of his death.
