Rajasthan Royals slam match-fixing allegations

Rajasthan Royals
Jaipur:
Rajasthan Royals
are facing a challenging period. Beyond their poor performance and reported team discord, the Jaipur-based team now confronts accusations of match-fixing. Following Royals' narrow two-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium last Saturday, RCA ad hoc committee convenor and BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani has raised match-fixing accusations.
He questioned the team's inability to score nine runs in the final over with six wickets remaining. Bihani, who expressed doubts about the loss, has called for an investigation by the BCCI and other agencies. 'I have not filed a police complaint. I have spoken to the media and now it's on the BCCI to investigate the matter,' he stated.

Royals vice-president Rajeev Khanna dismissed these claims as unfounded. 'The RCA ad hoc convenor's statement is totally factless and is condemnable. Royals have filed an official complaint with
Rajasthan
State Sports Council (RSSC) which is our host association and have communicated the same to state chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and to sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, stating that these kind of baseless statement from a MLA is hurtful and demotivates players who give their best to win games,' he stated.
Bihani further alleged that Royals and RSSC excluded RCA from
IPL
operations, despite BCCI's initial contact with RCA for arrangements. He criticised the sports council's stadium management and claimed RCA's resources, including curator Taposh Chatterjee, were utilised without payment, whilst committee members were denied accreditation.
RSSC chairman and state sports secretary Neeraj K Pawan said responded that the ad hoc panel's responsibility is limited to conducting RCA elections. Regarding fixing allegations, Pawan said, 'The anti-corruption team of BCCI sits here before the match, during the match and after the match, so whatever is being said is fictional.'

10 Dead, Over 20 Injured in Stampede During RCB Victory Celebrations in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: At least 10 people lost their lives and more than 20 sustained injuries during a stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Tuesday, where thousands had gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) first-ever IPL championship victory. Among the deceased were six men and four women, police sources confirmed. The crowd had begun to swell from early morning as fans anticipated the arrival of the RCB team with the IPL trophy. The gathering quickly turned chaotic, as road closures and the influx of fans by road, metro, and foot created massive congestion in the city's central business district. According to eyewitnesses, the stampede occurred near the stadium gates, where fans had amassed in hopes of glimpsing their cricketing heroes. The stadium's surrounding roads had been cordoned off, and traffic police struggled to manage the growing crowds. Before reaching the stadium, the RCB team had been felicitated at the Vidhana Soudha by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. However, before the team's arrival at the stadium, the celebration turned tragic due to overcrowding and lack of proper crowd management. Those injured were rushed to Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, where several are reported to be in critical condition. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are expected to review the safety protocols and planning of the event.

The incident prompted an immediate response from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who acknowledged serious security lapses in the organisation of the victory celebration. "This incident of deaths due to stampede is totally shocking for us. We at BCCI extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. We also pray for the speedy recovery of all those who have been injured. When one organises a victory celebrations of this magnitude, proper precautions, safety and security measures need to be taken. There has been some lapses in some corner somewhere. Due diligence should have been done so that an incident like this could have been avoided," Saikia told news agency PTI. The BCCI secretary also expressed concern about the ongoing celebrations, hoping to prevent any further incidents. Saikia drew a comparison to recent successful crowd management efforts, highlighting the IPL finals at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium and the T20 World Cup victory parade in Mumbai. (AP) "I have heard that celebrations are on and I sincerely hope that nothing untoward happens. Even yesterday in Ahmedabad, during IPL finals, there were 120,000 people at the Narendra Modi Stadium. But BCCI has a dedicated team which has done elaborate planning in coordination with local district administration and law enforcing authorities to ensure that safety and security of the spectators," he said. He further elaborated on the BCCI's approach to organising large-scale celebrations, citing the T20 World Cup victory parade as an example. "When we organised the Victory parade in Mumbai after the T20 World Cup, we had spoken to the local authorities and made elaborate arrangements keeping in mind the safety and security of the crowd who had come to see their heroes," Saikia added.
