NOU starts admission process to PG, other courses
The last date for submission of applications for admission to these courses is Aug 30.
However, the last date for submission of applications for admission to the MCA (master in computer applications) course is July 30. While there are a large number of seats in all other courses, there are only 140 seats in MCA course from the current session, said NOU's media in charge Pallavi.
Admission to the MCA course will be held on the basis of an entrance test and interview, to be conducted by the university after the last date of submission of applications.
Only those candidates will be eligible to apply for admission to the MCA course who possess BCA or bachelor degree in computer science engineering or equivalent degree or BA/BSc/BCom degree with mathematics at the 10+2 stage.
As there is a huge demand for MCA course in the information technology sector, students having general graduation degree (having studied mathematics at least at +2 level) can be admitted to this course provided they qualify in the entrance test and interview.
Meanwhile, the university's postgraduate examinations of 2025 are scheduled to commence from July 11 as announced earlier. All necessary arrangements for holding the examinations in a fair and peaceful manner have been made. Students coming from outside may be allowed to reside in hostels for the period of examinations on prior permission of the authorities, she added.

Global investment in fusion energy rises the most since 2022
WASHINGTON: Global fusion energy investment grew by $2.64 billion in the year since last July, an industry group said in an annual industry survey on Monday, but companies said they need much more money to take the industry commercial. The investment rise took place in places including the United States, the EU, Japan, China and Britain and was the highest since 2022. This year's investment was a 178% jump from the more than $900 million raised last year. "The acceleration of capital, even when the global economy has tightened, is a signal of maturing investor confidence, technological progress, and a rapidly coalescing supply chain," said Andrew Holland , FIA's CEO. Fusion, which fuels the sun and stars, is in the experimental stage on Earth, but could one day generate enormous amounts of energy that emits virtually no greenhouse gas and without generating large amounts of long-lasting radioactive waste. Live Events Physicists work to replicate fusion reactions by forcing together light atoms with technology including lasers or giant magnets. Tall hurdles to commercialisation include lowering the amount of energy needed to spur reactions, getting reactions to occur continuously, and systems to transmit the energy. The survey does not count public funding for public fusion projects, which China is believed to the world leader in. Venture arms of traditionally fossil fuel companies Chevron and Shell and Siemens Energy and Nucor, the largest U.S. steel producer, were some of the investors. The investment hike has benefited from a boom in power demand from artificial intelligence and data centers. Google said last month it had struck a deal to buy power from a Commonwealth Fusion systems plant in Virginia which hopes to generate power by the early 2030s. Despite the funding jump, 83% of respondents said they still consider getting investments challenging. Fusion companies said they would need an additional $3 million to $12.5 billion to bring their first pilot plants online, with a median response of $700 million. The total of $77 billion that respondents said they would need is about eight times more than has been committed by investors. Expected industry consolidation could reduce the total investment needed, the survey said.

Iran FM Abbas Araghchi says Tehran will not abandon nuclear enrichment
Iran has no plans to abandon its nuclear program, including uranium enrichment, despite "severe" damage to its facilities after US strikes last month, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Monday. For now, enrichment "is stopped because, yes, damages are serious and severe," Araghchi told Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier." He stressed that any future nuclear deal would have to contain the right to enrichment. When asked whether any enriched uranium had been saved from the strikes, Araghchi said he had "no detailed information," but that Iran's Atomic Energy Organization is "trying to evaluate what has exactly happened to our nuclear material, to our enriched material." Live Events Washington bombed three nuclear facilities in Iran on June 22 to support Israel's 12-day military offensive, including the Fordow underground uranium enrichment site located south of Tehran. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly called the strikes a success, reaffirming on Saturday that all three sites were "completely destroyed." Araghchi's remarks come as Tehran is set to hold new talks on its nuclear program with Germany, France and the United Kingdom on Friday in Istanbul. Regarding negotiations with the United States to de-escalate regional tension, Araghchi said "we are open to talks" but "not direct for the time being." "We are ready to do any confidence-building measure needed to prove that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful" in exchange for lifted US sanctions, he added. The foreign minister also confirmed that Iran would continue to develop and manufacture missiles. Despite multiple barrages of missiles launched at Israel and waves of Israeli attacks on its bases and launchers, Araghchi said "we still have a good number of missiles to defend ourselves." Baier also asked about the health of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has rarely been seen since the start of Israel's attack. "I met him today, he is in a very good shape and in a very good health," Araghchi said.
