Bengaluru Tech Summit: Karnataka launches ‘Katalyst' to fast-track GCC setup
The Karnataka government on Monday launched KATALYST , a dedicated Ease of Doing Business cell to support Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in the state. Addressing over 200 CEOs at a breakfast meeting before the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) kicked off, chief minister Siddaramaiah said the move would make Karnataka 'one of India's most business-friendly states.'The one-stop window will fast-track GCC setup to under 45 days, offer a single-point GCC handbook, and streamline industry connect and incentive queries. Under its GCC Policy 2024-2029 , Karnataka aims to add 500 GCCs by 2029, creating 3.5 lakh jobs and $50 billion in economic output. The state currently hosts 875 GCCs, accounting for 30% of India's total GCC count.'We host over 875 global capability centres, which is 30% of India's total. Our goal is to add 500 more GCCs by 2029, creating 350,000 jobs and $50 billion in economic output,' the CM said during his address to the added that the state is also building tech clusters beyond Bengaluru to ensure growth across the state. The CM also highlighted Karnataka's role in shaping India's tech future, citing its share of 44% in software exports and hosting half of the country's artificial intelligence (AI) per the government, the three-day summit will be held from November 18-20, which will play host to 20,000 startup founders, 1,000 investors, 600 speakers, and 1,200 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. Themed "Futurise," the BTS will feature 10 conference tracks spanning AI, semiconductors, biotech, spacetech, fintech, and sustainability. Key highlights from the event will include the Future Makers Conclave, Startup Springboard, and country delegations under the Global Innovation Kharge, minister for IT-BT, said its bold new vision, expanded scale, and global outlook, BTS 2025, will further strengthen Karnataka's leadership in shaping the future of technology, innovation, and sustainable development for India and the world.
