Drishyam-maker Jeethu Joseph on Sunday (April 21) announced his next feature film, Valathu Vashathe Kallan, starring actors Biju Menon and Joju George in the lead.
The makers unveiled a title poster of the film to announce the news. 'In the shadow of justice, some cases whisper redemption,' read the caption of the post.
Billed as 'a gripping tale where crime meets conscience,' Valathu Vashathe Kallan also stars Lena, Irshad Ali, Gokul, and Shaju Sreedhar.
With a script written by Dinu Thomas Ealan, the film has Jeethu's frequent collaborators — cinematographer Satheesh Kurup, editor Vinayak VS and music director Vishnu Shyam — reuniting for the technical duties. August Cinema, Bedtime Stories, and Cineholix jointlyu produce the film.
Interestingly, both Joju and Biju are set to be seen in big-ticket titles in Tamil. Joju will be seen soon in Suriya's Retro, while he is also part of Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. Thug Life box office collection day 4: Kamal Haasan film ends 1st weekend with ₹35 crore, fails to surpass Indian 2

Thug Life box office collection day 4: Mani Ratnam's Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles, ended its first weekend on a modest note. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹35.64 crore net in India in four days of its release. (Also Read: Thug Life worldwide box office collection day 3: Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam film collects over ₹60 crore) Thug Life was released in theatres on Thursday and collected ₹15.5 crore net in India on its opening day. The film saw a massive dip on Friday, bringing in ₹7.15 crore. Collections perked up a little on Saturday, with a collection of ₹7.75 crore. On Sunday, the film brought in an estimated ₹5.24 crore net in India, taking its first weekend collection to ₹35.64 crore. While these collections are decent, expectations for Mani and Kamal's first film together in years were higher. With the film collections not perking up during the weekend, it seems less likely that the weekdays will bring about any change. Kamal's previous film, Indian 2 by Shankar, performed better than Thug Life and made ₹62.15 crore in four days, and ₹59.15 crore by its first weekend. Mani's Ponniyin Selvan I and II had also brought in ₹120.15 crore and ₹103.75 crore respectively at that time. Thug Life sees Kamal play Shaktivel, aka Shakti and Silambarasan, his adopted son, Amar. Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf also star in the film. Thug Life is Kamal and Mani's first film after their 1987 hit Nayakan, which is considered a cult classic. The film's ban in Karnataka after the language row also could've affected the film's collections, given that the state is a good market for Tamil films, apart from Andhra Pradesh-Telangana.

Aamir Khan on Laal Singh Chaddha's failure, depression, and how Farhan Akhtar was almost cast in Sitaare Zameen Par

Actor and producer Aamir Khan has spoken honestly about how the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha affected him deeply, saying he was 'depressed, heartbroken and emotionally battered' after the film didn't connect with most audiences. In a recent interview with Indian Express, Aamir addressed the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. He said, 'It was quite shocking for me because I'd also liked the film. So I was very surprised that people didn't like it. Let me just add here, because I know a lot of people love the film, 25% of the audience has really loved the film. But I also have to admit that the larger bulk, 75% of them didn't connect with the film, they didn't like my work, they had their issues. I understand and respect that. But it was difficult for me to accept." Following the setback, Aamir talked about how he stepped back from acting and decided not to star in his next production, 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. He explained that director RS Prasanna was asked to look for another actor. Eventually, Farhan Akhtar was locked in for the role, with Sivakarthikeyan signed on for the Tamil version. 'That time, I told Prasanna I wouldn't be able to act again so soon. Since the film is good and we've to make it, I asked him to cast someone else. He offered the film to many people. Everyone liked the script, and then finally, we locked Farhan for it. We were also making a Tamil version because Prasanna is a Tamilian. So we locked Sivakarthikeyan for that one," said Aamir. Despite having second thoughts, Aamir chose to be upfront with Farhan and Sivakarthikeyan, who were both understanding. Aamir said, 'On the seventh day, I told Prasanna and Divya, but also said now it's too late. Of course, the moment I said that, all hell broke loose. They insisted I only do it. But I thought it doesn't reflect well on me as a producer after I've locked the actors' dates. But Prasanna convinced me and said I should do it since I was his first choice.' He then concluded, 'So, I told Farhan and Sivakarthikeyan honestly about the journey I'd been through. They were both very supportive. If I was in their shoes, I'd have been very disappointed. But at the end of the day, Farhan and I are friends. Sivakarthikeyan and I are also very fond of each other. I'm hosting a premiere, so I'll definitely invite them for that." Aamir will now return to the screen in 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which is scheduled to release in theatres on June 20. The film will also feature Genelia Deshmukh.
