Harjinder Singh faces deportation: Trucker who took reckless U-turn in Florida killed 3; was in US illegally since 2018
The truck driver — identified as Harjinder Singh, an illegal migrant — has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide.
The fatal collision unfolded around 3 pm Tuesday near Fort Pierce, when Singh allegedly attempted to cut across the highway through an 'official use only' median pass. His truck's massive trailer blocked all lanes of oncoming traffic, leaving drivers with no room to stop or swerve.
Footage from inside the cab showed a black minivan speeding toward the trailer, with only seconds to impact.
The van smashed into the trailer at full force, wedging underneath in a devastating collision that reduced the vehicle to mangled metal.

Photos from the scene showed the van torn apart, its roof peeled back, and its contents scattered across the highway. Emergency crews used hydraulic jacks to lift the trailer and recover the victims, while Singh was seen standing nearby with a blank expression.
Two passengers in the minivan died instantly, while the driver was pulled alive from the wreck but succumbed to injuries at a local hospital.

Authorities identified the victims as a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, a 30-year-old man from Florida City, and a 54-year-old man from Miami, Treasure Coast Newspapers reported.
Investigators said Singh, who carried a California commercial driver's license, has been in the US illegally since crossing the Mexican border in 2018. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a detainer against him, according to CBS 12.
If convicted of homicide, he faces prison time in Florida before deportation.
'Three people lost their lives as a result of his recklessness, and countless friends and family members will experience the pain of their loss forever,' said Dave Kerner to CBS 12, executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Singh remains in custody on state and federal charges.

5 govt teachers sacked after 11 yrs of servicefor getting jobs on fake docus; BSA orders FIR
Meerut: UP Primary Education Board has sacked five govt teachers in Bulandshahr after a probe revealed that "they secured jobs using fake educational documents in 2014", said officials on Thursday. The Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) has consequently ordered the registration of an FIR against them, while a recovery notice for the salary they withdrew during this period will be issued soon. BSA Laxmikant Pandey told TOI: "Verification work of teachers appointed after 2010 was going on, and after investigation and several rounds of checks by the department, marksheets of at least four assistant teachers were found to be computer-generated. It was found that they had tampered with the names and roll numbers of other candidates. Hence, on the basis of the probe report, their services were terminated." Notably, since the recruitment was merit-based, some aspirants inflated their scores by submitting forged marksheets and certificates to secure jobs, he said. The sacked teachers -- Pushpendra Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Dinesh Kumar and Ashish Kumar (all from Firozabad) -- got the job in 2014, and were posted as assistant teachers in schools of Dibai block, Bulandshahr. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo The salary recovery amount from the four teachers may be Rs 2 crore, an official said. HAU students continue hunger strike, perform havan for vice-chancellor's 'good sense'
1 2 Hisar: The protest at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU) intensified on Thursday as six students continued their fast-unto-death for the second consecutive day. The agitators performed a havan yagya near gate no. 4 of the university, praying for "good sense" to prevail upon the vice-chancellor. In a dramatic act during the ritual, former student Manoj burnt his original Degree Marksheet Certificate (DMC) as purnahuti. The students alleged that the police administration was obstructing their protest by seizing mats and preventing them from bringing coolers to the site. The agitation began on Wednesday after students accused the university of failing to fulfil promises made following a violent incident in which the students were attacked with sticks in the presence of the vice-chancellor. Following the incident, six students — Dipanshu, Ashu Thakur, Mohit, Rahul, Yogesh, and Ajay Kaliramna — sat on an indefinite hunger strike. The protesters said they would no longer accept "empty assurances or delay tactics" and vowed to continue their hunger strike and sit-in until all demands are met in writing and implemented. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Groceries Delivered in a Blink – Trusted by Millions Across India Blinkit: Grocery in 10 minutes : India's last minute app Undo Key Demands Withdrawal of FIR registered during the earlier dharna An independent, high-level probe against the CSO, registrar, and vice-chancellor, with retired professors nominated by students included in the committee Written assurance from the university that no disciplinary action will be taken against the protesting students Inclusion of two student representatives, chosen by the students, in Academic Council (Caption of photo: An alumnus burning his original degree certificate in the havan fire at the protest site) Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
