Teddi Mellencamp debuts shaved head as she walks 1st red carpet after brain surgery: 'I'm feeling great'

Yahoo29-04-2025
Teddi Mellencamp's cancer journey has been filled with highs and lows, but the television personality was happy to celebrate positive news from her doctors on Monday night.
Mellencamp attended An Unforgettable Evening, an event benefiting the Women's Cancer Research Fund in Beverly Hills, with her best friend and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Kyle Richards. It was her first formal event since she underwent surgery in February to remove several brain tumors. Mellencamp debuted her shaved head on the red carpet.
'I'm doing OK,' she told Yahoo Entertainment on the red carpet. 'I would say that I'm feeling great in the fact that I'm doing better physically, and the mental stuff — it's highs and lows. But I'm so happy to be here and [to] be able to support this event and such an important cause.'
Richards, who lost her mother to breast cancer, told Yahoo it was a relief to be at the gala, which raises funds for pioneering cancer research across leading medical and academic institutions in the U.S., after receiving 'positive news from Teddi's doctor.'
'We were waiting with bated breath, all of us in the last week for her to get either good news or bad news. It was a very scary time for her and everyone that loves her,' the Bravo star said. 'So it feels way better to be here tonight with that.'
Last week, Mellencamp shared on social media that 'all tumors stage IV (metastasized melanoma in my brain and lungs) shrunk or disappeared.' After two more immunotherapy sessions, doctors are hopeful she will be 'cancer free.'
Mellencamp chose not to wear a wig at the gala, something Richards found 'really inspiring.'
'To see someone like Teddi be so strong and show up here tonight looking absolutely stunning. She was like, 'Do I wear a wig? They're uncomfortable sometimes.' And I said, 'You look so gorgeous.' Not everybody can do that and show people it's OK,' Richards said. 'You're gorgeous no matter what.'
Mellencamp, who shares daughters Slate, 12, and Dave, 5, and son Cruz, 10, with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, said she's had an 'amazing support system' throughout this process. That has included Richards every step of the way.
'I did everything from sleeping with her at the hospital to going to doctor's appointments, to bringing her a cuter blanket at the hospital, to making her laugh, to taking embarrassing videos of her that I knew that I could show her [later] she would appreciate and laugh at," Richards said of how she's been at her friend's side. 'Really, that's what it is — trying to keep her happy. We have nights just at home and she comes and has sleepovers and we just laugh."
Mellencamp joked that Monday was 'the first time I've been out past 8:30 [p.m.] since this happened.'
'I looked at Kyle, I'm like, 'Are we gonna make it?'' she laughed. 'Normally I just come to your house and we watch some TV. But it's really important that we're here.'

I took 3 kids and my 70-something mom to see 'Freakier Friday.' No one laughed harder than grandma.

The movie is rated PG — that's "perfect for grandma." This story contains spoilers. Don't say we didn't warn ya. Hello, Yahoo readers. I'm Suzy Byrne, and I've been covering entertainment in this space for over a decade. I'll be the first to tell you I'm no hardcore cinema buff. Since I had a child, though, I've made it a point to see as many kid-friendly movies as possible. Maybe it's because I'm a big kid ✔ and love a cheerful ending ✔. But also, as a busy working parent, getting two hours to turn off my phone, put up my feet and eat whatever I want while my child is fully entertained is the definition of movie magic. So that's what this is — one entertainment reporter + her 10-year-old child + friends seeing family-friendly fare and replying all to you about the experience. Welcome to Kids' Movie Club. Now playing: The adults outnumbered the kids six to three for our family movie trip, which should clue you in that nostalgia was the real star of the Freaky Friday sequel. That said, when we walked into the theater, someone in our group admitted, 'I don't think I even watched Freaky Friday' — and it turns out they weren't alone. Seeing the 2003 original definitely adds context, but our crew — which spanned three generations and two continents (my sister's family was visiting from Australia) — felt the sequel stood on its own just fine without revisiting its predecessor. Jamie Lee Curtis stole the show, especially with my 70-something mom, who guffawed at every senior citizen joke like it was written for her. Lindsay Lohan was like a fast-forwarded version of her younger self; she had the same cadence, delivery and spark. The PG-rated movie isn't chasing Oscars, though; it's chasing laughs and delivers enough of them. With a mix of punchlines about aging and early 2000s nods, it knows exactly who it's playing to. Maybe because it felt a little old school to the 10-year-olds among us, Freakier Friday was a harder sell to the kids than the other movies we've seen this summer. I had to promise to take them to Cat Video Fest first (yes, two hours of cat videos) in exchange for them seeing this. Apparently, they don't hold LiLo in their Y2K hearts the way I do. The plot 🎬 Like in the first film, Freakier Friday has body-swap chaos, but this time it's not just two people in the mix, it's four: Tess (Curtis), her daughter Anna (Lohan), Anna's daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and Anna's soon-to-be stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons). Everyone in my group was confused trying to keep track of who was in whose body. We could have used some good old-fashioned Pop Up Video captions — 'Lily is in Tess's body' — just to stay on track. Saturday Night Live alum Vanessa Bayer has a scene-stealing role in the magical mix-up. From there, most of the film is the four women working to undo the switcheroo while stepping into each other's very different lives. Meanwhile, teens Harper and Lily are on a mission to sabotage Anna's wedding to Lily's dad Eric (Manny Jacinto), which adds another layer of chaos and comedy to the generational tension and family drama. But naturally, the heart of the film is about walking a mile in someone else's shoes — and learning something along the way. Parts that had the kids talking 👧🏻👧🏻👦🏻 Again, the trio of cousins preferred the cat videos to Freakier Friday. After the movie, they were talking about cats. And none of them begged to watch Freaky Friday when we got home. The real highlight for them? The snacks. And the mix-up. In what felt like our own Freakier Friday moment, our server kept bringing us food we hadn't ordered — and couldn't take back. A large popcorn somehow turned into three small ones. Three drinks multiplied to eight. The kids were giggling about it for half the movie. So if Madame Jen had a hand in that little magic trick, thanks. Parts that had the adults talking 👩🏻👩🏻👱🏻‍♀️🙎🏻‍♂️👵🏻 Curtis could do no wrong. Whether the therapist turned author Tess was playing pickleball, shopping for senior care items, gushing about her love of Parcheesi or getting her lips plumped, she had us laughing. It was all about the old-age jokes. When they first changed bodies, the zingers came fast: 'I'm bloody decomposing!' My 'butt is so high!' 'My face looks like a Birkin bag left out in the sun to rot.' What the film lacked in plot, it made up for in one-liners about adult diapers, Fixodent, toots, enemas and the giant letter virus that is older people using the oversize font setting on their iPhones, like grandma. The parents weren't spared, either. There were jokes about Coldplay and John Mayer — what we grew up on — as being dated. Not to mention Facebook being a 'database of old people.' (Hold on while I delete my account.) The women were the stars of the show, but the men held their own. Jacinto doing Dirty Dancing was a great moment. I also found myself staring at Chad Michael Murray's hair (he's back as Anna's ex, Jake) and wondered what he's doing to keep it so shiny. Meanwhile, Mark Harmon's return — with a full head of white hair — was shocking in the best way. Of course, the movie had its tropes — the future stepsisters who hate each other, the dead mom and the very soap opera way Eric called off the wedding in a room full of people vs. a side conversation with Anna. But the confetti-filled, crowd-surfing reconciliation scene? I ate it up. Dumb things I searched after the movie 💻 I don't surf. I don't live near the beach. But that didn't stop me from Googling how to get the floral wetsuit Lohan wore. (It's Cynthia Rowley. Yes, I still want it and, no, I don't need it.) Stay for the credits? 🎞️ Yes, it's cute with a lot of funny outtakes, like Curtis biting into 34 donuts to get a scene just right. There's also some cheeky fourth-wall breaking. Trailers 🎥 My daughter is counting down the days until Zootopia 2, but I also got, 'Can we see that?' for films targeting older audiences — A Big Bold Beautiful Journey and Regretting You. It made me wonder: Are we aging out of the kids' movies? Maybe, but I hope we never outgrow watching them together, especially as a family. Looking for more recs? Vicki Gunvalson Claims She Got Parasite Like Brandi Glanville Filming Ultimate Girls Trip

The more we hear about the unaired Morocco edition of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, the more it sounds like something out of a horror film. Of course, we've all heard about Brandi Glanville's scandalous behavior that tanked the show. However, she also blamed the trip for her facial disfigurement. She believes she contracted a parasite while filming the show, and now Vicki Gunvalson says she may have been bitten by the same bug. Vicki Gunvalson spoke of Brandi Glanville's parasite 'pain' The Real Housewives of Orange County OG recently appeared on SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live. During the episode, she explained how she learned she was 'loaded' with parasites. She didn't want to blame Bravo, but she's definitely blaming RHUGT. 'You know, Brandi is in so much pain, I mean she's got a very large parasite,' Vicki said, noting that she's '100%' confident that the Morocco trip caused it. According to Vicki, every single person on the cast got sick from the Morocco trip. Vicki said she has been suffering from gastrointestinal issues since filming, feeling bloated and sluggish. She's only going number two once a week. Even then, she said it comes out like 'pellets,' just in case you needed that mental image. After Dulcolax and Metamucil didn't get things moving for Vicki, she decided to get a colonic. That's where they made the big discovery that a bunch of parasites were whooping it up inside of her belly. Vicki recalled, 'We went to the colonic and she said, 'You have parasites. You are loaded with parasites all in your gut.'' At that point, the colonic provider asked if she traveled internationally. Although Vicki does spend a lot of time in Mexico, her mind immediately went to the ill-fated Morocco trip. She said every time they ate, flies swarmed their food. 'And that show never aired,' Vicki remarked. 'If it would have aired, we would have seen the flies on everything.' So, what's an Orange County girl to do when she's got parasites from Morocco wreaking havoc on her bowels? According to Vicki, she's doing colonics three times a week and taking ivermectin every month. As of now, she's still pooping pellets, so please keep the OG of the OC in your thoughts. The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip is streaming on Peacock, just not the Morocco one. You can also stream it on Hayu in the UK and Ireland. A Mystery Man, Mistress and Health Scares Plague Dramatic RHOSLC Season 6 Trailer

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is back for Season 6, but there's no need to bundle up, because even the newly-released trailer's iciest moments are balanced out by several heated confrontations. The first-look preview of the new RHOSLC season, which you can check out above, dropped on August 14, along with the official cast line-up and premiere date. Find out everything to expect from your favorite snowflake-holders, below. When does RHOSLC Season 6 premiere? The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City returns for Season 6 with a supersized episode on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock. Who is in the cast for Season 6 of RHOSLC? Returning RHOSLC cast members include Lisa Barlow, Mary Cosby, Heather Gay, Angie Katsanevas, Meredith Marks, Bronwyn Newport, and Whitney Rose. The ladies will also, once again, be joined by friend Britani Bateman. What can fans expect on RHOSLC Season 6? An announcement for the new season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City teases that "the friendships are always on thin ice, and tensions between the women are hotter than ever." Promising to serve "plenty of drama, camp and hijinks," Season 6 sees the ladies traveling around the globe, trading their Sprinter van for an RV; flying first class to Greece; and even sailing the seas with the crew of Below Deck Down Under, including Captain Jason Chambers, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, and Chef Ben Robinson. (In a first for both franchises, the trip will also be featured on BDDU Season 4.) The RHOSLC Season 6 first look — which is packed with glimpses of the women navigating serious issues while wearing silly costumes — also provides further insight on what's to come, including allegations encompassing everything from a mystery man to a mistress. Tellingly using the performance of a "Greek tragedy" as its throughline, the sneak peek kicks off with the ladies vacillating between tears and shouting matches as they face secrets, lies, and fears, while hunting for the "truth." First, Mary shares an update on son Robert Cosby Jr.'s post-rehab recovery with Whitney: "He's doing as well as he can be doing. Like, some days he's good, some days he's not." In a confessional, she tearfully adds, "It's his journey, and I know God will work it out." RELATED: Andy Cohen Reveals an Unseen Moment With the RHOSLC Cast at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards Later, tensions unexpectedly arise between new besties Mary and Angie, who insists she is her "sister." As Mary fires back, however, "No, you're not. Find another one, k?" That's not Angie's only friendship battle either: The trailer shows her in more than one expletive-filled dustup with Lisa, who, also goes toe to toe with Bronwyn. Meanwhile, Lisa is experiencing issues in her marriage to John Barlow, to whom she admits, "I feel like we're on different pages." Later, a tarot card reader references them "rebuilding trust," and, elsewhere, Bronwyn and Whitney discuss the couple as well as "a mystery man." Bronwyn is also dealing with family issues involving both husband Todd Bradley, whom she fears "misunderstands" her, as well as her mother, who is "disappointed" in her lifestyle choices. Although it's unclear to whom she's referring, Britani mentions seeing something about a "mistress," before the trailer cuts to Bronwyn asking Mary, "What if I'm wrong? And I'm gonna look like a fool, and he humiliates me?" Finally, following several of her own tearful moments, Meredith tells Heather, "When somebody shows you who they are, you deal with them accordingly." Her statement may have struck a chord with Heather, who fumes at an unseen person, "Walk the f–k away."
