World Rugby Pioneers Online Safety For Women's Sports With Signify Partnership

As we prepare for the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025, World Rugby is changing its approach to dealing with online issues by continuing its partnership with Signify. This partnership first started at the 2023 tournament, and it now includes women's rugby as part of a program called The Impact Beyond 2025. Advertisement This change is important because women players and referees face 30% more online abuse than men. The trend is especially becoming rampant across rugby. To tackle this problem, the Signify Threat Matrix will keep watch on major social media sites in real time. It will identify abusive content, track where it originates, and help take actions like fines, bans, or even legal action when needed. This initiative is not only about responding to problems but also about gaining a deeper understanding of online hate and finding ways to prevent it in the future. Sally Horrox, who is in charge of women's rugby at World Rugby, said on the official rugby website, "Every player and official deserves to feel safe and respected. This new service shows that we will not tolerate abuse, and we want women in rugby to succeed without fear." Dominic Rumbles, World Rugby's Chief Communications Officer, also supported this move on the site, saying it shows their strong commitment to fighting online hate. As women's sports get more attention around the world, World Rugby's actions set an important example—not just for rugby, but for all sports globally. This action will hopefully reduce, if not eradicate, bullying in women's rugby.
