1923 Season 3: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

1923 , the Yellowstone prequel, hooked fans with its raw take on the Dutton family's fight to hold their Montana ranch in the 1920s. With Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren leading the charge, the show's gritty drama and stellar performances made it a Paramount+ hit. After Season 2's emotional rollercoaster, everyone's asking: Will there be a Season 3? Who's coming back? What's next for the Duttons? Here's everything we know so far. When Could 1923 Season 3 Hit Screens?
If Paramount+ gives the green light, don't expect new episodes anytime soon. Season 1 dropped in December 2022, and Season 2 took until February 2025 to arrive—over two years later. Filming, especially with a cast as busy as Ford (working on Shrinking ) and Mirren (tied up with MobLand ), takes time. Add in Sheridan's packed schedule, and a third season might not land until 2026 or even 2027.
Some blogs tossed around June 2024 as a release date, but that's old news and doesn't add up since Season 2 just wrapped. Best bet? Keep an eye on Paramount+'s socials or X for any official word. If production starts in 2025, late 2026 feels like a realistic target. Who's Coming Back for 1923 Season 3?
If Season 3 happens, the cast depends on who's still standing after Season 2's wild finale. Here's a rundown of who might show up, based on where the story left off: Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton : Spencer's the core of the show, now raising his son, John II, after losing Alexandra. The finale's voiceover says he lives until 1969, so he's a safe bet to lead the cast.
Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton : Jacob pulled through the Season 2 shootout, though he took a hit. If the story picks up right after, Ford's likely back, but his other projects might mean a smaller role.
Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton : Cara's the heart of the ranch, stepping up to help raise John II. She's a must for Season 3 unless the timeline jumps way forward.
Michelle Randolph as Elizabeth Strafford : Pregnant and headed to Boston after Jack's death, Elizabeth's story feels far from over. Randolph confirmed the pregnancy in a recent interview, so she could return for a big arc.
Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater : Teonna's headed west, maybe to the Crow Reservation. If she's pregnant, her kid could tie into Yellowstone 's Rainwater family, making her a key player.
Brian Geraghty as Zane Davis : The ranch foreman's arrest in Season 1 and his interracial marriage set up a juicy storyline. Season 3 could dig deeper into his fate.
Jennifer Carpenter as Marshal Mamie Fossett: The tough-as-nails marshal from Season 2 could cross paths with the Duttons again, especially if new trouble brews.
Julia Schlaepfer's Alexandra won't be back in the main timeline after her gut-wrenching death, but flashbacks could bring her into the mix. New faces, like a young John II or a fresh villain, might shake things up too. What's the Plot for 1923 Season 3?
Season 2 wrapped with Spencer saving the ranch and killing Whitfield, but losing Alexandra in the process. It felt like a big ending, but loose ends—like Elizabeth's pregnancy and Teonna's escape—scream for more. Here's what a third season could dive into:
Spencer's New Chapter: Raising John II alone, with Cara and Jacob's help, won't be easy. Killing Whitfield seemed too neat, so expect trouble from his shady business partners or the law sniffing around.
Elizabeth in Boston: A pregnant woman on her own in the 1920s? That's a tough road. Her kid could be John III's parent, tying straight into the Yellowstone family tree.
Teonna's Next Steps: Teonna's headed west, maybe starting a new life. If she's pregnant, her story could build the Rainwater legacy, connecting to Yellowstone .
Fresh Threats: With Whitfield gone, someone new—maybe Banner Creighton's kin looking for payback—could target the ranch. Drought and blizzards, huge in Season 2, might hit harder.
The Season 2 finale got flak for rushing things, with a voiceover tying up loose ends too quickly. Fans called it out on X, saying it felt like a shortcut. A third season could fix that, giving these stories the room they deserve.

Eminem doc 'Stans' to stream Aug. 26 on Paramount+

Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The Eminem-produced documentary Stans will stream on Paramount+ beginning Aug. 26 in North America, the platform announced Wednesday. The news follows a limited theater run that ended Sunday. The film will arrive on the streamer Aug. 27 in Britain, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and Oct. 3 in Japan. It made its premiere at SXSW London. Stans explores the legendary rapper through the perspective of his superfans. The name is a nod to his 2000 song "Stan," which described "an obsessive, unstable fan," and became so popular the term was added to the Oxford English Dictionary some 17 years later. "'Stan' is one of the most unconventional songs ever written, where the story is mostly told from a fan's perspective, so this film was an incredible opportunity to find a unique approach. We kept coming back to one lyric from the song: 'I'm just like you,'" said Steven Leckart, who directed the project, in a statement. "Fans who echo that sentiment carry much of the film. But like the song, Marshall's perspective was also essential to the movie. I'm grateful for just how candid, sincere and frequently hilarious he was."

These Cowboy-Inspired Perfumes Smell Like the Wild West in a Bottle

If your summer mood board is layered with leather boots, double denim, and that iconic Miu Miu cowboy hat, it might be time to embrace a cowboy-inspired perfume. Whether you're still blasting Cowboy Carter or binge-watching Yellowstone like the rest of us, it's almost impossible to find an aesthetic more coveted in 2025 than that of the free-spirited cowboy. Luckily, this breezy world of wild horses, rodeos, and lassos is brimming with atmospheric charm, inspiring a range of woody, leather, and effortlessly magnetic fragrances. 'To me, there's a ruggedness about cowboy fragrances,' says ELLE's resident perfume expert and beauty editor Medina Azaldin. 'It's not about specific notes but rather a composition that makes you think of sunsets, soft leather saddles, and hot, dry weather. It's a devil-may-care attitude and a fearless spirit, in a bottle.' Her spritz of choice? 'Saddle by Perfumer H captures the essence of a cowboy perfume, but does it in the most refined, elegant manner. It's soft, worn-in leather that wears buttery smooth on skin thanks to the addition of amber and vanilla.' From smoky woods aromas fit for dust storms and dive bars to soft suede notes for high-fashion outlaws, these are the best cowboy-inspired perfumes for a seamless cool-girl scent. Keep reading for nine of the best cowboy-inspired perfumes for a cool, late summer scent. This cool-girl-approved brand draws inspiration from some of the world's most iconic nightlife scenes, from Ibiza in the '80s to New York in the '90s. Heathens, Cowboys and the Santa Ana Winds is the ultimate evening scent. Think cowboy perfume notes after dark: palm trees, wild breeze, and a glowing amber base. Fans of D.S. & Durga's original Cowboy Grass will love this limited-edition sibling scent. While the New York brand's original is aromatic and earthy, with notes of Haitian vetiver, white sage, and clary sage, this more feminine iteration leans fresh and floral. Picture peonies, blooming plains, wild grass, and soft musk. Housed in a crystal-like tumbler, this rich, liquor-inspired scent is the ultimate nighttime statement and a must-try for fans of dramatic gourmand fragrances. Inspired by cognac aging in oak barrels, this evening tipple in perfume form has a nomadic allure that effortlessly captures the wild, cowboy aesthetic. You'll struggle to find a scent more coveted than Le Labo's most iconic fragrance, Santal 33. Inspired by the wide plains of the American West, this cowboy-worthy perfume has long been It girl–approved, boasting notes of Australian sandalwood, cedar, cardamom, iris, and leather. The best part? It's a true crowd-pleaser and an effortless blind buy for leather lovers. While the name of this fragrance alone gives it undeniable cowboy appeal, its powdery saddle scent is just as fitting. With notes of leather, violet, and suede, the balanced aroma is perfectly unisex, offering a soft, smoky sillage that suits any occasion. It's also been widely hailed as the ultimate new layering scent by fans. If you came here for an atmospheric cowboy scent that evokes dusty saddles, worn-in boots, and that iconic Stetson hat, this refined yet gentle amber-leather fragrance is your perfume. With a buttery softness, its blend of bright bergamot, orange flower, and jasmine absolute top notes, heart of earthy patchouli and benzoin resin, and a creamy vanilla base creates a bold yet balanced leather that is captivating from the very first spritz. Few A-listers are more in tune with the appeal of cowboy-inspired notes than horse lover and frequent Texas visitor Bella Hadid. 'My partner personally loves Nightcap—both on himself and on me,' the model recently told ELLE UK, following the debut of her signature scent collection at Selfridges. With a sultry aroma of ginger, guaiac wood, vanilla, and sandalwood, if it's good enough for a real-life cowboy, it's good enough for us. Looking for a straight-talking leather perfume? This delicately sweet yet realistic scent has a cozy, woody dry-down that wears effortlessly year-round. Also available in candle form (perfect for bringing a cool, rugged edge into your space), this fragrance is a true crowd-pleaser and effortlessly wearable for both evenings and the office. While cowboy-inspired perfumes are often edgy and raw, they don't have to be. After all, what captures a free spirit better than a Texan golden-hour sunset? Picture sweet, green rhubarb, strawberry leaf, and honeydew melon, paired with spicy pink pepper, galbanum, white peonies, and ambrette musk. Yes, this scent is breezier than the aforementioned cowboy fragrances, but its lively floral bouquet doesn't compromise on that spirited, cool-girl energy.

Original cast member David Zayas plays a pivotal role in ‘Dexter: Resurrection'

Can vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan escape his dark past? Not on Angel Batista's watch. David Zayas resumed his role as the Miami homicide captain earlier this summer in the latest 'Dexter' installment on Paramount+, 'Dexter: Resurrection,' with a hunch that his friend and former colleague might be the notorious Bay Harbor Butcher. The second sequel series follows Dexter, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, as he begins a new life in New York City after surviving a near-fatal gunshot wound by his son Harrison (Jack Alcott) in 'Dexter: New Blood,' who also exhibits murderous tendencies. Batista appears at Dexter's bedside as a friend, though it sets off warning signals for the conflicted killer who takes off suddenly, setting up a game of cat and mouse. 'Angel Batista was a big-hearted, honest person with a lot of integrity [in the beginning],' said Zayas in a phone interview with The Times. 'If you were Angel Batista's friend, you were a friend for life.' The former blood spatter analyst assumes a new false identity as the 'Dark Passenger,' another mass murderer, quickly gaining access to a serial killer dinner party, where he plots revenge on the most gory criminals. But now halfway through the series, Dexter can't seem to shake off Batista; a once-trusting ally who has grown more dubious of his fragmented storyline. 'I did have love for him, so it's like he's trying to negotiate his feelings,' Zayas says. 'He's trying to calibrate what he's feeling.' While Batista's signature Cuban fedora remains put — even in the frigid East Coast weather — his benevolent personality makes a drastic shift in 'Dexter: Resurrection' as traces of the Bay Harbor Butcher emerge at the Empire Hotel, coincidentally Harrison's workplace. The notorious Florida serial killer was known for meticulously dismembering his victims, hardly leaving a speck of evidence. 'With all the information that he kind of dismissed or didn't believe in the original series ['Dexter,'] now it's starting to become more true,' says Zayas, whose character growth shines through a star-studded sequel, which also features Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Eric Stonestreet and Neil Patrick Harris. There is one small wrinkle in Batista's plans: he has no jurisdiction over the case, which is now at the helm of New York detective Claudette Wallace (Kadia Saraf). Instead he is keeping track of details on his own, in hopes that the department will follow his lead. 'We all have that one case that haunts us, the one we can't let go of until we get it right. The Bay Harbor Butcher is that case for me,' says Batista to detective Wallace in Episode 6. But could this pursuit for justice backfire on Batista in the same way that it did for his slain colleagues? Fans of the the original Showtime series, which aired from 2006 to 2013, may remember the pivotal moments when James Doakes (Erik King) and María LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) were killed off — just before they could uncover Dexter's real identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher. '[Batista] has gotta find ways to try and bring justice to what he's found out,' says Zayas, who is not far removed from his morally grounded character. The Puerto Rican-born actor was a New York City police officer for almost 15 years before turning to film, television and theater. 'It is easier for me when it comes to the technical aspect of law enforcement,' Zayas says. 'But as an actor, I could play 10 law enforcement officers, because I try to examine the human elements of each of those characters — not what they do for a living.' With numerous credits dating back to 1995, Zayas has played eight different characters in the 'Law & Order' franchise, as well as in police procedural shows like 'FBI,' 'Blue Bloods,' 'NYPD Blue' and 'Chicago P.D.' He's also appeared in such films as 'Tallulah,' 'Annie,' 'Body Cam' and more. The veteran actor also makes a brief appearance in three episodes of FX's 'The Bear' alongside his wife, Emmy-winning actor Liza Colón-Zayas, who portrays the role of Tina Marrero. 'It was a dream,' he says of the opportunity. The two met in New York City as part of the LAByrinth Theater Company, a traveling theater troupe; they married in 1998. 'When me and Liza read [the script], we were very emotional about it,' says Zayas, who plays Marrero's loving husband. 'This shows a side of a Latino couple that you don't see every day on TV.' Colón-Zayas also made a cameo in Episode 5 of the original 'Dexter series' as Paloma Aragon, the mother of a murder victim, whom Batista consoles. ' We've always been supportive of one another. We've always held each other down and we've always told each other the truth and I'm her biggest fan and she's my biggest fan,' he adds. Whether Batista might survive the dreaded fate of his previous colleagues, it might be too soon to tell. One thing is for certain, Episodes 7 and 8, which will premiere in the next two weeks, will change the course of the show as Batista doubles down on his crusade for justice.
