ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The third edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Games is taking places until March 19, 2025. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the event brings together more than 2,000 employees representing over 45 government entities from across Abu Dhabi.This year's competition features 11 sports, including football, shooting, padel, fitness, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, chess, and badminton. The events will take place at Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub and Al Forsan International Sports Resort, while the running races will be held at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, and cycling competitions will take place on the Al Wathba Cycle Track.Held in celebration of Ramadan, the championship is part of an employee engagement and wellbeing programme aimed at fostering positivity, improving performance and professional relationships, and enhancing both personal and professional development within the workplace. The initiative promotes physical health, mental clarity, and overall well-being in an competitive atmosphere that embraces teamwork and the spirit of challenges.Teams and individuals representing government entities will compete for total prize money exceeding Dh1.3 million. All events will take place in the evening, starting from 9pm.Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, confirmed that following the success of the previous two editions, this year's championship will play a key role in encouraging government employees to adopt a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle encompassing physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Al Awani emphasised that the event provides an opportunity for employees to build connections in a positive sporting environment while motivating them to incorporate sports into their daily lives, ultimately improving their overall quality of life and fostering a healthier and more sustainable future.He said: "We aim to drive a fundamental shift in the lifestyle of Abu Dhabi government employees, leveraging the best research and methodologies to achieve this transformation. The Abu Dhabi Government Games is one of our flagship programmes designed to accomplish these goals in a celebratory and social setting, coinciding with the holy month.'
