Former wrestling star Marcus 'Buff' Bagwell opens up about decision to get leg amputated

NBC News20-07-2025
World Championship Wrestling alum Marcus 'Buff' Bagwell is opening up about his decision to amputate his leg after 'five years of torture.'
In a candid YouTube vide o shared Friday, Bagwell explained that he's spent five years attempting to save his right leg after injuring his kneecap in a 2020 car crash. Now, he's made the decision to undergo an above-the-knee amputation.
Sitting beside his fiancée, Stacy Brown, Bagwell shared how he was feeling just 12 hours before being admitted to the hospital for the operation.
'When I look down and see that I'm getting ready to amputate my leg, no more do I start getting depressed about it even for a second,' he said at the beginning of the clip. 'Instantly, I get overwhelmed with joy because of the last three years of my life.'
Why did Bagwell get his leg amputated?
Bagwell's decision to amputate his right leg came after he suffered an infection from another procedure on his injured knee following his 2020 car crash. He said he was given the choice between a '20% chance' of saving the leg through several surgeries, physical therapy and inserting a steel rod, or amputation.
Ultimately he chose to amputate the leg, expressing that he is 'really hoping this will bring a new chance at life.'
Bagwell reminisced on his his five-year healing journey since the car crash, where his vehicle ran into a shopping mall, causing a brick wall to collapse. He said the incident should have led him to '100% either been dead or been in prison.'
After the incident, the wrestler said he was in the hospital for 'weeks' at a time and had over 20 procedures. During that time, Bagwell said he entered the 'deepest, darkest addiction I've ever been in.'
'I was constantly drinking. It was crazy. It's just the worst,' he recalled, adding that he 'kept falling' and re-injuring his leg.
Bagwell continued: 'My leg wasn't healing and so I just was super depressed, and I did everything you hear. I isolated. I was still trying to work, but, I mean, I'd go to the gym on a walker.'
'All I know in my life is you fight to get better, you fight. Well, on this one I wasn't able to fix the problem for the first time.'
The wrestler explained that he was 'so angry at what happened, that instead of 'continuing to go into my addiction and drinking, I got sober.' Bagwell said in August 2022, he went to rehab.
Next month, on Aug. 27, Bagwell said marks his third year sober.
'I've been able to put together three of the best years of my life by putting in this order: God, Stacy and myself,' he said. 'I've been able to put together three years together of sobriety and three of the best, happiest, closest to God, best relationship — best personal — I've felt, together.'
Will Bagwell return to pro wrestling?
Fellow professional wrestler Maven Huffman documented Bagwell's experience in the hospital before and after the amputation surgery in a video shared Friday.
In the clip, a voiceover seemingly of Bagwell discusses his post-recovery plans, addressing whether he anticipates a return to pro wrestling.
'I'm going to be able to run and I'm going to be able to run better,' he said. 'I want to get back in the ring, hit the ropes, have a match. It'll show some that I've came out of the darkness with this thing, and I've turned it around all the way to being back in the ring as Buff Bagwell.'
As of Saturday, Bagwell hasn't publicly shared an update on his health. However, he has been active on his Instagram account, re-sharing well wishes and images of himself posted by other users onto his Instagram stories.
At the end of Bagwell's YouTube video, the wrestler also teased an upcoming video, which seems to follow him through the day he underwent the amputation.
In that video, Bagwell called the entire experience a 'weird dynamic.' Reframing his perception of the incident, he said, 'What cost me my leg got me sobriety.'
Prior to the surgery, Bagwell said he expected the procedure will help him get 'in the best shape in 20 years.'
'I'll be able to do cardio. I'll be able to eat at restaurants with my leg under the table. I'll be able to go to movies and church with my leg being out of the aisle,' he said.
Bagwell's mindset going into the operation was 'everything happens for a reason,' he said. 'I'm not depressed I didn't [amputate] two years ago. I fought the fight.'
'It's hard to take away five years of torture and to know that that torture is going to be cut off and I've got some hope that's going to be put on my leg, called a prosthetic," he said. "I'm trying to be excited about it. I think it's going to be a wonderful thing.'

Cabin crew lift lid on unsettling 'crop dusting' trend - and people are horrified

A flight attendant has revealed what the trend 'crop dusting' means while onboard a plane - as people confess the rumours are true about what it means when crew use the term While farting on a plane may be something short of a nightmare - according to plane crew, they are advised to do it, especially pilots. Sitting next to someone on a flight while they let rip really wouldn't be the ideal start to your holiday, so spare a thought for the cockpit if either pilot needs to let one out. ‌ According to one Argentinian flight attendant, she revealed to her almost 2.65 million YouTube followers that pilots are "prohibited" from holding in their gas because the discomfort it causes can distract them from their crucially important role. ‌ Now fellow cabin crew members, including flight attendants have come forward to confess their wind admissions while serving onboard - and revealed the habit is called 'crop dusting'. ‌ Taking to Facebook, one former crew member said: 'I'm cabin crew and I walk down that cabin farting to my heart's (and bowel's) content. I also share the love in the flight deck.' While another chimed: 'My friend is an air steward and they are advised to let rip, they are told that if they are in Business Class or First they should make an excuse to go to economy to release the pressure then return to Business class.' A third said: 'Cabin crew slang is "crop dusting" when you walk the length of the aisle slowly letting it out as you go.' The Argentinian air steward, who goes by the name Barbie Bac explained that flatulence is heightened when the plane reaches an altitude of 30,000 feet and said: "At high altitudes, atmospheric pressure is lower, which increases the volume of internal gases. "This can cause discomfort and distraction in the cockpit when the pilots should be focused on doing their job, not in pain from being full of gas. That's why it's always recommended that pilots, if they have to, just release them." To try and minimise the chances of passing wind, Barbie Bac said the pilots eat different meals to each other - so they don't both suffer another unfortunate bowel incident. "The commander and the copilot choose different meal options. One will choose chicken and the other will choose pasta," she says. Her claims are even backed up by a 2013 study by Danish and British gastroenterologists. Hans Christian Pommergaard, Jakob Burcharth, Anders Fischer, William Thomas and Professor Rosenberg told the New Zealand Medical Journal that holding your farts in may seem preferential but they suggested that for the sake of their health and comfort, passengers and crew should set them free. ‌ However the medics did recognise that air cabin quality may be diminished for other passengers though. The gassy dilemma also applied to the cockpit and pilots, the specialists found. "If the pilot restrains a fart, all the drawbacks previously mentioned, including diminished concentration, may affect his abilities to control the airplane. If he lets go of the fart his co-pilot may be affected by its odour, which again reduces safety on board the flight."

Listeners' fury after popular US podcast airs vile antisemetic rant while hosts laughed and nodded along

A popular US podcast has come under fire for a shock conversation which involved openly anti-Semitic language including blaming Jewish people for the Holocaust. The Fresh & Fit podcast, hosted by Myron Gaines and Walter Weekes claims to be the number one men's podcast in the world. It has nearly 1.6 million followers on YouTube, where it has been demonetized in the past, and some 372,000 followers on Rumble. The podcast has regularly featured guests such as Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes. The podcast was live streaming to the right wing video platform Rumble when host Myron Gaines bizarrely asked about their female guests about their views on Hitler. Weeks and Gaines laughed and grinned while the guest began her vile anti-Semitic rant. She replied: 'What if he Jewish did something to the Germans that made them act a certain way, but nobody wants to talk about it. The Jews don't want to take accountability. Other guests agreed, saying 'I'm with you on that one'. The woman then continued: 'They were up to something so the Germans wanted to take them out. It had to be something, the Germans wanted to take them out, all of them. Another guest can be heard saying 'Jews are so fishy' while another replied 'they started it'. The woman continued: 'The Holocaust was the only way he (Hitler) can take out a huge population of Jews all in one setting. 'I already know what is going on, I am not dumb. The Jews did something, they are trying to take back and get repercussions especially from America, from Americans. 'So they have taken over the government and stuff like that Gaines then asked: 'How do we take them down? To which another replied: 'gotta kill them m************' Another guest also whispered: 'Genocide' The guest added: 'Hitler he had the plan, but his plan was too gruesome'. It is profoundly disturbing to see young social media influencers casually rationalize Hitler and the Nazi regime's systematic extermination of six million Jews during the Holocaust. The only thing more terrifying than Holocaust denial is Holocaust glorification. The comfort… — Ritchie Torres (@RitchieTorres) July 25, 2025 Fellow Host Walter Weeks then said: 'Listen, he had to do what he had to do. He was trying to save the world, it just didn't work out. The woman continued: Jews are the reason why the healthcare system and everything around the us in government is collapsing because they are sitting up here stealing away from the American people.' The video was deleted but was later shared by Republican politician Richie Torres. He said: 'It is profoundly disturbing to see young social media influencers casually rationalize Hitler and the Nazi regime's systematic extermination of six million Jews during the Holocaust. 'The only thing more terrifying than Holocaust denial is Holocaust glorification. 'The comfort with which these commentators defend the most evil man ever to roam the earth should send chills down the spine of every decent person.' Democrat Senator Scott Wiener also shared his disgust. He wrote: 'This Fresh & Fit podcast justifies the Holocaust since the Jews 'were up to something so the Germans wanted to take them out.' They claim Jews control the government & health system. And people wonder why anti-Jewish violence is rising.' Hosts Weekes and Gaines are no strangers to controversy, having previous said women in serious relationships should not have Instagram because it's 'a form of cheating'. The duo believe men and women 'are not equals' and it's ok for men to post what they want on Instagram but women in relationships should not be allowed to have an account. They added how 'women want attention and men want sex', and so women shouldn't be 'advertising themselves' as men will act on their options if they have the ability to do so. Gaines also wrote a book titled Why Women Deserve Less, where he wrote that 'All women are whores. The Fresh and Fit podcast has been contacted for comment.

Coleen Nolan says her son 'f***ed up his marriage' during 'horrendous' secret drug battle

Coleen Nolan has revealed that her son, Shane, suffered a secret battle with drugs which saw him 'hit rock bottom' and ruin his marriage to his beauty queen ex-wife, Maddie Wahdan. Coleen Nolan has revealed that her son, Shane, 'f***ed up' his marriage to Miss Great Britain star Maddie Wahdan amid a secret battle with drug addiction. The 36-year-old singer, who Coleen shares with ex-husband Shane Richie, s plit from the beauty queen in December 2023 amid reports he had been unfaithful - just a year after they had tied the knot. ‌ Now, Shane has opened up about his battle with drug addiction at the time, which saw him be admitted to rehab as his family feared for his life. Speaking about the ordeal for the first in a new video for her YouTube channel, Loose Women star Coleen, 60, said told her son, " It might be a great high for however long but you were broke, you got into a lot of debt, as everyone does with addiction. Relationships, you f***ed your marriage basically." ‌ At the time of Shane's split from Maddie, it was reported that Coleen was been upset' and 'disappointed' over the split, with sources claiming it was like 'history repeating itself' after his father cheated on Coleen back in the 90s. Now, he is in a new relationship with girlfriend Kimberly Sallis, and revealed earlier this month they are expecting their first child together. ‌ Crediting Kimberly for helping him through the drug addiction, Shane said in the video, "I think I've had to grow up. I've got a girlfriend who has helped me through it massively, we're starting a family now." Admitting that his hectic work schedule led to the addiction starting, the singer explained, "The constant moving, the travelling all of the time, having to be on stage until 11 o'clock at night, so the only way to pick yourself up is to [do drugs]. ‌ 'I'd have a three day bender but I wasn't [doing drugs] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. It probably would have got to that. I was splitting up, I was going through a tough time work wise, I didn't know what I wanted to do," he continued. For Coleen, the situation had her fearing her son may not make it, as she recalled there was a 'breaking point' before he was admitted to a rehab centre. 'I remember when the time came that you passed out and split your head open early in the morning. He split his head open and got eight staples, or whatever it is, in his head. That was my breaking point, if this doesn't wake him up, he will... I kept saying, 'He's going to die'," she told Shane in the video. ‌ Blaming herself, Coleen continued, "'From a mother's point of view, I just felt I'd done something wrong. I really blamed me for all of it. People kept saying, 'You have to talk to him, you have to do this' and I couldn't. I thought, 'I'm really failing on all levels though'. "So, when you split your head open, I thought the next call could be, 'He's overdosed'. I just remember thinking, 'I've just failed him and I can't take this pain away from him', If I could've taken it for myself I would've." Now, with Shane sober and set to welcome a new baby, Coleen says the family can finally relax: 'It's only until recently we've all just relaxed. The difference for me now, is you're just nicer to be around. I didn't dread you coming around, but I kind of did. I don't know, it was horrible."
