Now, Pride and Prejudice fans have a shot at snapping up a unique piece of TV history as the picturesque manor house hits the market. The grade II-listed country house, immortalised to millions as the home of protagonist Elizabeth Bennet and her family, is up for sale for £3.95million. The BBC's 1995 adaptation featured Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet and Colin Firth as the dashing Mr Darcy. It is widely lauded as the best adaptation of the Jane Austen classic ever made. Those wanting to live their very own Jane Austen-inspired life can strut through the Queen Anne front pillared portico or wistfully meander through the mature gardens like the on-screen family. The historic country house, featuring a wood carved doorway reputedly by Grinling Gibbons as well as eight bedrooms. It also boasts seven bathrooms and six reception rooms, providing ample room for family life and entertainment. The second floor is a flat and games room, says Knight Frank, who are handling the sale. And there's plenty of outside space too, with extensive lawns approaching the house dominated by a 400-year-old Lebanese Cedar, which has one of the biggest ever recorded in the UK. 14 The Bennet family walking into the front of Luckington Court Credit: PIC FOR REFERENCE ONLY - NOT FOR 14 Pride and Prejudice 1995 is considered the best adaptation of the novel Credit: Alamy 14 Jenifer Ehle, playing Elizabeth Bennet walking into Luckington Court gardens Credit: PIC FOR REFERENCE ONLY - NOT FOR 14 The small country estate boasts luscious views Credit: Kennedy Newsand Media 14 It is described as a 'quintessentially English' property Credit: Kennedy Newsand Media The new owners will also enjoy a tennis court, stable block, a dovecote, an outdoor riding school. The property also boasts home farm buildings, 1.27 acres of woodland and four well-presented cottages. James Walker, Regional Head of Central in Knight Frank's Country Department, said: "It is a privilege to be involved with the sale of Luckington Court, which is the epitome of a classic, small country estate. "The next custodian will appreciate the subtle grandeur and the sense of pride it evokes. "Quintessentially English and wonderfully understated." Prior to the 1995 TV series coming out, another version of Pride And Prejudice was written for the BBC in 1980 by the late Fay Weldon. But the 1995 version is arguably better known as it helped make Colin Firth a household name. And its famous lake scene inspired similar sequences in Bridget Jones' Diary and Bridgerton. Luckington Court at Luckington near Chippenham in Wiltshire had last been taken off the market in 2023, listed with estate agent Wooley & Wallis with an asking price of £6 million. In 2018, it was put up for sale for the first time in 70 years, through Strutt & Parker, with a higher guide price of £9 million. 14 The Bennet sisters walking in the garden of Longbourn which is Luckington Court in real life 14 The picturesque property is nestled in a peaceful area Credit: Kennedy Newsand Media 14 Luckington Court in Luckington, Wiltshire, famously portrayed Longbourn Credit: Kennedy Newsand Media

The house sleeps up to 10 people across five bedrooms, and has four bathrooms, including two ensuites, some with double sinks. There's a large modern kitchen as well as a large gallery that was first created to entertain King Charles II. The house is filled with antique furniture and there's a huge library full of antique books. There's also a secret garden, called the Lower Deanery Garden which is not open to the public. She also discovered cobbled backstreets and local boutiques like The Hambledon as well as P&G Wells, a 296-year-old bookshop with thousands of vintage novels. Another popular spot nearby is the village of Chawton, where you can visit Jane Austen's house where she worked on her novels, including Pride And Prejudice. You can take a look at her writing desk and ponder over her handwritten letters - entry costs £15 per person. Winchester Cathedral itself is the main attraction of the city and tickets to go inside cost £13 for adults and £5 for children. And here's a top travel destination in the UK that's often overlooked but has great secret spots and new attractions. Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) STRICTLY hasn't even started yet but there is one contestant who is already in the running to win. At the start of the month we revealed that Ellie Goldstein, 23, had been snapped up by BBC One to compete in this year's series. 3 Ellie Goldstein is in the running to win the show even before its started Credit: BBC 3 The model with Down syndrome currently has the best odds to lift the Glitterball Trophy Credit: Splash The model with Down syndrome is leading the way with 3/1 odds on her lifting the Glitterball Trophy. She is ahead of YouTuber George CAlarke at 5/1 and TV personality Dani Dyer at 6/1. Another big mover is The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner, who has been backed into 10/1 from 25/1. While Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis and US entertainment reporter Ross King are right down at the bottom with 33/1. Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: 'With every contestant confirmed, punters have been making their favourites known. Ellie Goldstein has waltzed her way to the head of the betting, but it's tight at the top.' On Wednesday Ellie confirmed she was taking part in the new series, almost two weeks after The Sun first revealed the signing. Ellie danced her way into the BBC Breakfast studio as she shared her "excitement" at joining the iconic show. The actress said she "can't wait to get started" but admitted she would find it "scary at first". She also revealed that her dream pro dance partner would be Nikita Kuzmin. Ellie told BBC Breakfast that her family are "very supportive" of her being on Strictly, but that she found it "hard" keeping it a secret from them. Kristian Nairn and Karen Carney has been confirmed for Strictly She then added: "My disability has taught me to be me not to be scared. "Never give up. Be who you are. "I smile all the way through the night." Olympian and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was the first celebrity confirmed. Harry AKA Nitro's signing for Strictly was shortly followed by the announcement of three more contestants - Love Island star Dani Dyer, Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston and former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on Monday's episode of The One Show. EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal, who plays the role of Suki Panesar in the hit soap, was then confirmed on Tuesday morning. With YouTuber George Clarke unveiled on Tuesday afternoon on BBC Radio 1. Ellie will be waltzing their way onto the dance floor next month. Essex-born Ellie is the first contestant with Down syndrome to take part in a full Strictly series. Ellie being signed for the show comes after CBeebies presenter George Webster performed in the 2022 Christmas special. A source told The Sun earlier this month: "Ellie is thrilled to be taking part in Strictly. "She has broken down so many barriers in her career, from modelling for Gucci to being the first model with Down syndrome to appear on the cover of Vogue. "Ellie can't wait to get started on the show and show people what she can do." Ellie's parents were told she would never be able to walk or talk after she was born with Down syndrome. However she defied the odds, and Ellie says she now 'never stops talking'. She began modelling as a teen and has worked with brands including Victoria's Secret, Adidas and Gucci. In 2023 she became the first model with Down syndrome to grace the cover of British Vogue and was honoured with her own Barbie doll, now sold worldwide. Ellie said: 'I am proving people wrong and I am a role model for people like me. "Doctors said I wouldn't talk but now I never stop talking! "You should always believe in yourself.'
