RPO/Petrenko review — Yunchan Lim outshone by Strauss
It was a night that felt like two concerts hoicked together. Two mountains — we had Mussorgsky's Night on the Bare Mountain as well as Strauss's Alp — flanked a performance by a 21-year-old already at the summit of the classical music world.
Despite his fame, the refreshing thing about Lim — and this seems to be baked into

Aussie influencer sparks split rumours after unfollowing boyfriend on Instagram just weeks after celebrating their daughter's first birthday
Aussie influencer Lauren Bullen has sparked rumours of a split from her French partner Liam, just weeks after celebrating their daughter's first birthday. The travel blogger, known to her millions of followers as gypsea_lust, has noticeably unfollowed Liam on Instagram - and he appears to have returned the favour. The pair, who are based in Bali, haven't been seen together on social media in recent months, prompting fans to speculate their relationship may be over. It wouldn't be the first time the couple have parted ways. They previously broke up around 18 months before announcing they were expecting their daughter, Lumae, in March last year. At the time, Bullen addressed the break-up in an emotional Instagram post. 'I'm far from ready [to talk about this] but Liam and I are no longer together,' she told followers. 'I know the majority of you come from a place of loving and caring, but I'm reminded every time I open Instagram to see your messages,' she continued. 'I shared so much of my relationships so I know I somewhat owe an explanation.' The couple reunited before the birth of their daughter, and celebrated little Lumae's first birthday just last month. But their recent social media activity - or lack thereof - has led fans to question whether they've gone their separate ways once again. Lauren has not publicly addressed the rumours. She last made headlines in 2023 after being labelled 'tone deaf' for complaining about cancelled flights during a volcanic eruption in Bali. Bullen had been living in Bali with Liam and their daughter Lumaé Rose. They had organised a trip to Australia this week but were unable to travel as Jetstar and Virgin Australia cancelled all flights due to ash clouds from Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in Indonesia. 'Anyone have info on flight cancellations in Bali? I have a very important weekend in Australia,' she wrote. 'I need to get to Australia by Friday for my bestie's bachelorette. So I have to just wait and reassess tonight or tomorrow and then somehow wrangle a ticket because right now prices have rocketed to $2-3K a person economy.' Fans slammed the influencer for her 'extremely tone deaf' post after it was re-shared to the Influencer Updates AU Instagram page. Lauren has built a successful career off her curated travel content and dreamy lifestyle photos, but fans have noticed her personal life has taken a backseat online in recent months. Bullen has been approached for comment.

China's Pop Mart, maker of the Labubu doll, says profit soars nearly 400% in first half
SHANGHAI, Aug 19 (Reuters) - China's Pop Mart ( opens new tab, which has taken the world by storm with its ugly-cute Labubu doll, reported a nearly 400% first-half net profit on Tuesday on high demand for the toys and a shift towards higher-margin overseas markets. Net profit of 396.5% and a 204.4% jump in revenues exceeded numbers flagged in an earnings preview last month forecasting revenue growth of 200% in the first half of 2025 and a recurring net profit increase of at least 350% on the year. Shares in Pop Mart have risen more than 200% year-to-date, making the Chinese toy company more valuable than traditional industry giants like Barbie-maker Mattel (MAT.O), opens new tab and Hello Kitty parent company Sanrio (8136.T), opens new tab. Pop Mart often sells its collectable figurines in so-called "blind boxes" with buyers not knowing the exact design they will receive until they open the packaging. One of the major drivers of the toothy-grinned Labubu's success has been its popularity with celebrity fans, who include Lisa of K-pop group Blackpink, singer Rihanna and ex-soccer star David Beckham. Pop Mart is pledging to increase supply of the dolls, which have sold out in stores around the world. Its CEO Wang Ning, in an interview with Chinese state media last month, said sales of Labubu will surpass 10 million units per day from September this year. Pop Mart classifies Labubu under its "The Monsters" intellectual property (IP) characters. It said on Tuesday that "The Monsters" raked in 4.81 billion yuan ($669.88 million) in the first half, accounting for 34.7% of total revenue. Four other IPs earned over 1 billion yuan during the period, including "Molly" and "Crybaby", it added. The company now has 571 stores - 40 of which it opened in the first half of this year - as well as 2,597 automated robot shops across 18 countries and regions, it added. Former Man United star Jesse Lingard scoops first major prize in South Korea - 18 months after making shock move
Former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard has won his first major award since making a shock switch to South Korean side FC Seoul 18 months ago. Lingard, 32, made the surprise move having spent 11 years at Old Trafford after coming through the club's academy. His most recent stint in England came with Nottingham Forest as he made 17 Premier League appearances in the 2022-23 season. After being released, he returned to football by signing for FC Seoul in February 2024 in a transfer that was labelled as the most significant in the K-League's history. Lingard has enjoyed a fine month for his current side, scoring twice in four games to pick up two Man of the Match awards. He also picked up a Player of the Week award to see him earn the accolade as the league's Player of the Month. Lingard has enjoyed a fine month for his current side, scoring twice in four games to pick up two Man of the Match awards It comes after Lingard called out a Manchester United fan on social media earlier this year after he was accused of 'destroying the culture' at the club. 'He was let have his own culture with [Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba] after Sir Alex left.' Meanwhile, Lingard was quick to reply: 'Please explain how me paul and Marcus destroyed Manchester United's culture?' Another fan entered the conversation: 'You made us play well which some dumb b*****ds that 'support' this club don't like because you dance and have fun' However, Lingard defended his position by saying: 'Lool we were just enjoying our life of we played for biggest club in the world of course we made mistakes and we learn but we gonna have fun and smile and dance'. He was often criticised for his performance at Old Trafford, having a turbulent time towards the end of his United career. After initially struggling at Seoul FC, he managed to turn things around and has captained the team on various occasions. He said: 'Coach Kim Gi-dong is someone who has a great understanding of football. He leads the team according to a clear plan. 'The K-League is gathering more fans. I hope that everyone in the football industry, including the coaching staff, players, and front office, will not be satisfied with this atmosphere and continue to move forward.'
