Zain Durrani speaks out on Marathi-Hindi language debate: 'Respect is the key'
'We really need to respect every culture' – Durrani's stand
When asked about the language tensions, Durrani told News 18, 'We really need to respect every culture. There are so many languages in this country. These days, when I sit with my team from Maharashtra, I try to pick up their language – not to appeal to anyone or to blend in, but just out of respect.' He emphasized that learning regional languages is not about assimilation but about honoring the roots and traditions of others.
South India's efforts vs. northern apathy
Durrani also pointed out a common imbalance saying, 'So many people from the South can speak Hindi, right? But how many of us try to learn their languages? Yet I see people poke fun at them when they speak Hindi. That's very unfair.' He stressed that mutual respect is essential for preserving India's rich cultural tapestry.
His journey as an outsider in Bollywood
As he was reflecting on his own path, Durrani acknowledged the challenges of being an outsider in the film industry saying, 'Everybody needs to do a certain amount of self-analysis.

Lindsay Lohan On Hollywood Stereotyping And Paparazzi Trauma: ‘I Have Extreme PTSD'
Curated By : Last Updated: August 03, 2025, 11:53 IST Lindsay Lohan spoke about battling PTSD from relentless paparazzi attention. Lindsay Lohan is opening up about the long-lasting impact of fame and how Hollywood continues to limit her as an actor, despite decades in the industry. Speaking to The Times UK ahead of the release of her upcoming film Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday, the 39-year-old star spoke candidly about the pressures of fame, being stereotyped, and her decision to leave Hollywood behind for good. Lohan revealed that she still finds it difficult to land diverse roles, often being cast in similar characters despite proving her range. 'Yeah, I do think I was pigeonholed," she said, adding that working with Meryl Streep on A Prairie Home Companion once felt like a breakthrough moment. 'Which is frustrating. Because, well, you know me as this, but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance." She continued, 'I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice. And in due time, if Martin Scorsese reaches out, I'm not going to say no." After stepping away from acting in 2008 to focus on her personal life, Lohan eventually left Los Angeles altogether, relocating to Dubai in 2015. The move, she says, gave her peace away from the relentless paparazzi culture. 'I don't ever want my family to go through what I went through. I have extreme PTSD from it. It's not safe. It's not fair," she shared. On a separate talk show appearance, she explained how the Middle Eastern city gave her the freedom she needed. 'You can't take someone's photo without asking. It's just different." Besides Freakier Friday, Lohan is also set to star in and executive produce Count My Lies, an upcoming Hulu thriller. She plays a manipulative nanny at the center of a web of secrets. Lohan has also expressed a strong desire to return to classic, character-driven films. 'There are not many major movies I want to go and see that are like that — there's a gap and I'm craving to do work like that," she said. Now married to Bader Shammas, whom she met in Dubai, and mother to son Luai, Lohan says she's entering a new phase. Delnaaz Irani on Friendship: My bonds aren't seasonal, they're for life
As Friendship Day approaches, actress Delnaaz Irani opens up about what the occasion means to her—and it's not about cards or planned celebrations. For Delnaaz, real friendships are lived and nurtured every day. 'I don't really celebrate Friendship Day in the traditional sense,' she shares. 'But if my friends and I plan to meet, that's always lovely. Personally, I believe every day should be dedicated to those who are close to your heart.' Having spent over three decades in the entertainment industry, Delnaaz has built bonds that have weathered time, fame, and change. 'I've had some incredible friends in the industry—bonds that go back to my theatre days and TV shows from the '90s. We still have those WhatsApp groups, we still meet, we still laugh like old times,' she says, adding, 'It's a myth that actors can't be friends. I've been lucky to have friends who are now like family. ' As life has evolved, so have her catch-ups. 'Earlier, it was about parties and getaways. Now it's cozy dinners, coffee catch-ups, or just chatting at home. I cherish the simplicity of being present, being real,' she reflects. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo But it's not just industry friendships she values. But we stay in touch, laugh over silly things, and pick up right where we left off,' she says. For Delnaaz, friendships aren't passing phases. 'My friends aren't temporary or seasonal. They're permanent. I don't believe in surface-level friendships. When I call someone a friend, it's for life,' she smiles. Her story is a warm reminder that real connections don't need a day—they just need intention, honesty, and a little effort to last a lifetime.
