Rohit Purohit On Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: ‘Stayed Honest To Its Soul'

Rohit Purohit opened up about what it truly takes to keep a show like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai relevant and impactful. Rohit Purohit continues to win hearts with his portrayal of Armaan Poddar in the long-running StarPlus show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. With 16 months of leading Rajan Shahi's iconic daily soap, Rohit's journey has been both celebrated and critically appreciated. This week, the show reclaimed its top spot on the TRP charts, proving once again that audience connect lies in consistent storytelling and this is something that Rohit strongly believes in. While riding high on success, Rohit opened up about what it truly takes to keep a show like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai relevant and impactful. Speaking to the Times of India, he shared his thoughts on how Indian television has evolved and why emotional storytelling remains the backbone of long-standing shows. Rohit Purohit On Indian Television Shows Rohit believes that a show can only make a lasting impact if it stays rooted in its core values. 'A show can only stay relevant and impactful if it is rooted in its core values. You need to be clear about the story you're telling and stay honest with it. The narrative has to reflect the times and still hold on to the emotional essence that drew people initially," he shared. Using Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as an example, he pointed out, 'It has always celebrated family bonds, relationships, festivals, conflicts and reconciliations and that the emotional core has remained intact. That's what keeps people connected." Rohit Purohit on Social Media's Role In Shaping Modern Viewership Rohit also acknowledged how drastically the audience landscape has changed in the age of social media. He shared, 'The audience today is very expressive and engaged. Their feedback does influence creative decisions. Loyal viewers often notice small clues, track BTS updates and try to predict upcoming twists." At the same time, he believes storytelling needs its own pace. 'You can't always rush or change things just because of a reaction. Sometimes, you have to trust the process and the long arc of storytelling," he added. Rohit Purohit On What Keeps A Long-Running Show Fresh? While the legacy of YRKKH is undeniable, sustaining freshness over the years is a challenge. He said, 'The biggest challenge is keeping the entire team emotionally and creatively invested over time. You can't ignore when a track isn't working or when a character no longer serves the story. But changes must still respect the original soul of the show." Rohit Purohit On The Power Of Strong Characters According to Rohit, character development holds as much weight as narrative twists. He shared, 'If your characters are strong and consistent, the audience stays emotionally invested. But a twist at the right moment adds energy and movement to the character's core for the sake of shock value. It has to feel natural and earned." Rohit Purohit on Why Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Remains Timeless Reflecting on how YRKKH continues to strike a chord after more than a decade, Rohit said, 'Life itself has changed, issues are more complex, layered. So the show must evolve, but not lose sight of its heart. The emotional grounding is what makes a show timeless." He concluded with a thought that captures the essence of the show's success, saying, 'Ultimately, it's about honesty, passion and storytelling that adapts while staying true to the soul." Recently, Rohit Purohit won the Fan Favourite – Actor award at the prestigious Indian Telly Awards, while co-actor Samridhii Shukla and the entire Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai team swept multiple accolades. The celebration was not just for a milestone achieved, but for a legacy being upheld. With a passionate cast, visionary creators, and deeply involved viewers, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai shows no signs of slowing down. And actors like Rohit Purohit play a crucial role in holding the heart of the show together. First Published: August 06, 2025, 17:28 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Rupali Ganguly Says Husband, Ashwin Verm,a Played A Big Role In Her Stardom

Rupali Ganguly reflected on her 25-year-journey in the industry and how family stood by her side like a rock. TV actress Rupali Ganguly, who has achieved household fame with her powerful performance as Anupamaa, recently spoke about her journey in the industry. With more than two decades of working on TV, the actress talked about how the aspirations of her loved ones, her husband in particular, and her momma, shaped her journey. Rupali entered television nearly 25 years ago with Sukanya. Although her debut comedic role as Monisha in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai brought her universal acclaim, Anupamaa brought her career full circle. The character turned out to be not only professionally rewarding but also emotionally satisfying. Talking about her rapport with Anupamaa, Rupali has said, 'It's a personal odyssey that has been an emotional, purposeful, and grateful experience. But this dream was not mine to begin with. I did not see myself as a big actor or star in my dreams. My mother had imagined me to be someone big someday, and it was my husband (Ashwin K Verma) who had envisioned that I would get my rightful place as an actor." And so when I stand on any platform, it is like living his dream for me. And that is what urges me to work harder. Her statement is an indicator of the strong emotional connection she has with her family. She does not regard her present success as an achievement for herself but as the fulfilment of someone else's dream for her. Producer Rajan Shahi's Belief Made Her Give Her All Rupali also remembered the motivational words of Anupamaa producer Rajan Shahi. She explained how his trust in her contributed to her enthusiasm. 'When I signed the contract for Anupamaa, Rajanji said, 'Rupali, I want you to win all the awards.' That kind of faith motivates you to give your best, and I did." That belief, she explained, became her push to take on the role. His trust inspired her to give it all to the performance, and she has been winning over hearts—and awards since then. In spite of her hectic work schedule, Rupali ensures that she balances her domestic life. She attributed her husband Ashwin for jumping in whenever necessary. 'Whenever I work, Ashwin takes care of our child. I sleep late and wake up at 5 am. Once you reach the point of standing before the camera and doing what you love, there is no room to feel exhausted. I wake up each morning feeling energetic enough to do quality work." Her schedule is not an easy one, yet her passion for the work and support of her family ensure that she remains strong. Tiredness never gets in the way of giving her best on camera. First Published: August 06, 2025, 17:00 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
