2025 NFL Draft: Fantasy football dream landing spots we wish would actually happen

NFL teams spend roughly 362 days each year feeding us misdirection, half-truths and outright lies. They are definitely not in the business of giving us accurate or actionable information — not ever.

But when it's draft weekend and a franchise is on the clock, they have nowhere to hide. Reality hits. Teams are forced to self-assess and show their cards. There's no lying in a draft.
Welcome to the best week of the NFL offseason, people. We're in it right now. Your favorite squad is about to improve in a meaningful way, and so is mine. We are about to rearrange fantasy draft boards, too.

Let's have one final round of draft wishcasting before the chaos begins. Here are three draft fits we'd love to see (but almost certainly won't)...
🐴 Shedeur Sanders to the Indianapolis Colts
Whatever else you think of Sanders, let's recognize that he was historically accurate at the collegiate level and is probably the best quick-game passer in this draft class. He has the potential to unlock Josh Downs and Michael Pittman Jr. in a way we simply haven't seen.

Also, this pick would prevent us from once again talking ourselves into a revival season from either Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson (which, c'mon ... not gonna happen). And it would have the added benefit of keeping one of the elite tight end prospects far away from the Colts' passing game. We cannot allow Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland to be exiled to Indy.
🤞 Emeka Egbuka to the Houston Texans
Houston has a desperate need for a long-term complement to Nico Collins and Egbuka is the ideal candidate. He's a slot technician who actually enjoyed his best collegiate season as a sophomore with C.J. Stroud as his QB. As much as any receiver in this draft, Egbuka profiles as an immediate pro-ready opening week starter. He might deliver a vintage Jarvis Landry-style season as a rookie if paired with Stroud.
🚀 Kaleb Johnson to the Pittsburgh Steelers
The 2025 running back class features several players who can thrive in any scheme, but, realistically, Johnson isn't one of them. If he finds his way to Pittsburgh, however ... well, watch out. He might just deliver 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns running outside zone under Arthur Smith, behind the Steelers' capable offensive line. Apologies to the Jaylen Warren enthusiasts, but Johnson to Pittsburgh is simply perfect.

Commanders impressed with rookie Jaylin Lane's work ethic
The Washington Commanders made a big move at wide receiver this offseason, trading for former Pro Bowler Deebo Samuel to start opposite Terry McLaurin. Samuel would give the Commanders the legitimate No. 2 option they've lacked for some time. Washington also brought back Noah Brown and K.J. Osborn and signed former Cowboys receiver Michael Gallup. Brown was the Commanders' No. 2 receiver last year before an injury ended his season in Week 13. Osborn signed with Washington late last season, but rarely played. Gallup, a former starter for Dallas, is attempting an NFL comeback after retiring last year. Advertisement Another newcomer for the Commanders at receiver is fourth-round pick Jaylin Lane. We've seen videos of GM Adam Peters and his staff preparing to select Lane in the 2025 NFL draft, calling him the best punt returner (in the draft) and a top slot receiver. So, we know Washington is high on Lane's potential. What does his position coach, Bobby Engram, think? "Every aspect of being a better receiver, honestly," Engram said via Zach Selby of Washington's official website. Jaylin's a super smart guy. He's a coach's son, so he gets to exercise on a different level. Love his work ethic, but my job is to help him prepare just to kind of tap into every ounce of potential that he has, and he's willing to work and do that. So, I'm excited about that." Advertisement Heading into training camp, you can count Lane among Washington's locks for the 53-man roster at receiver. That means the Commanders have plans for him in 2025 that go beyond special teams. In college, Lane played in an archaic offense and didn't always have the best quarterback play, yet he proved he could deliver in many ways. Lane can beat you deep, work for the slot, get yards after the catch, or take handoffs. Don't be surprised if Washington gets Lane involved in Week 1 as it finds creative ways to exploit his blazing speed. Shane Lowry has hot-mic meltdown during disastrous US Open performance: ‘F–k this place'

The 38-year-old Irishman had a hot-mic meltdown during Friday's U.S. Open at the Pittsburgh-area course after missing a close putt for par on his fourth hole en route to his 17-over par finish. Advertisement 'F–k this place,' Lowry said before tapping in the bogey to place him at 14-over. 'F–k this place.' Oakmont is known for being a course that can mess with some of the world's best and this year's edition has been no different. Lowry missed the cut by posting a 79-78 in his 36 holes, joining the likes of Phil Mickelson (8-over), 2016 winner Dustin Johnson (10-over) and 2024 champion Bryson DeChambeau (10-over) as standouts who will not be in action Saturday. In 2016, Lowry had a much better run at the course by finishing tied for second with a 1-under showing. Thursday's action featured Lowry taking out his frustrations on a microphone at the 17th hole after he could not get his ball out of the rough. The broadcast captured Lowry seemingly smacking the microphone. Lowry missed the cut after posting a 17-over score. @MattBellner/X Friday also featured Lowry making a mental blunder when he grabbed his ball on the 14th hole but failed to put his marker down, resulting in a one-stroke violation. 'Probably one of the stupidest things I've ever done,' Lowry said with a laugh, per Yahoo. 'I picked the ball up, had the ball in my hand, turned around to (caddie) Darren (Reynolds) and he basically said to me, 'What the f–k are you doing?' … By then, maybe my mind was somewhere else.' This poor showing comes after Lowry finished second in a pair of events this year, including the Truist Championship last month. I didn't really do much right to be honest, other than I drove the ball as good as I've probably driven the ball in a long time. So, yeah, weird couple of days.' Former Bengals coach already on the hot seat elsewhere in the NFL Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor might be on the hot seat in 2025, sure. But what about a former understudy such as Brian Callahan? After one year with the Tennessee Titans, Callahan is already registering on the hot-seat watch from onlookers such as Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus: 'Under Callahan's guidance, Tennessee ended a woeful 3-14 in 2024. Callahan's offensive success with the Bengals hardly translated, as the Titans ended the year 29th in EPA per play, 25th in success rate and 27th in average yards per play.' RELATED: Bengals, Shemar Stewart nuclear option includes 2026 NFL draft route Callahan was fortunate to land with a Titans team that was a little more patient than some last year, considering Jerod Mayo and Antonio Pierce were let go after one season each. But the clock is certainly ticking in Tennessee. Callahan got to play his part in drafting No. 1 pick Cam Ward. If he can work his magic like he did with Joe Burrow, he'll do just fine. If there aren't immediate results, though, it's hard to know just how patient the Titans can be during Ward's critical developmental window beyond 2025. As for Taylor and the Bengals, he could be right there on the hot seat by the end of 2025 if the season doesn't go as planned, especially now that he's re-tooled major parts of his coaching staff, implying better results.
