How early should fantasy managers target Jayden Daniels in drafts?
Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Matt Harmon teams up with Underdog Fantasy's Director of Content Josh Norris to break down where you should draft Jayden Daniels in 2025. They debate if he belongs among fantasy's elite QBs and reveal the sweet spot to target him on draft day. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Any actual real concern? Like how concerned are you? Yeah, you're not, you're not actually concerned at all. Like this is all again hypothetical stuff. You feel pretty good. I mean, Jayden Daniels literally might be my highest drafted player this summer. Uh, he's going in, in, in round 4 on Underdog right now, and I think he is the quarterback 3 easily. I should. I think he should be much closer to where Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are being drafted over and over again. I have real hesitations about a lot of the wide receivers being drafted in his range, and especially at like the end of round three after like the Chase Brown cliff, let's say at the running back position. Uh, I'm simply going to draft an elite quarterback over someone like Kyron Williams at this point. And look, I, I wasn't sky is falling with Kyron Williams heading into the 2024 year. I'm more so doing that in 2025. And I just want one of these bankable elite quarterbacks and uh figuring out my belt from there. Yeah, I actually think the funny thing about Jayden Daniels is that he's so good and and he's such an impactful rusher that he can be a great fantasy pick and like Terry McLaurin could take a small step back in the touchdown column and like Deebo Samuel might not really work out. Um, I just think again, the type of quarterback he is, like there's such a great margin for error, so I'm not, I'm certainly not concerned about Jayden Daniels, the individual, I'm certainly not concerned about Jayden Daniels, the individual, Um, there's like part of me that might be a little concerned about the environment overall, but I'm still with you and I think he can be a great pick where he's going. Drake Maye's key skill gives him fantasy upside in 2025
Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Matt Harmon and Underdog Fantasy Director of Content Josh Norris discuss New England Patriots second-year quarterback Drake Maye and a certain skill that gives him fantasy upside in 2025. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Next quarterback up here, Drake May, 112th overall selection, qb 16, um, Josh, what did you think of Drake May's rookie season and how are we feeling heading into this year? I love him, he can do no wrong, he's perfect. Uh, Drake May is just freaking sweet. We talk about how Caleb Williams, the situation piled on top of also his bad plays. Drake May could have easily been in the same exact boat, and yet Drake May put the team on his back and like lifted everyone around him to the degree that all these bad football players could be lifted. Sorry if I offend people for calling NFL players bad, but in comparison to other, you know, players at those spots. Uh, he was with a bunch of nobodies. And yet Drake May was still electric. He still held onto the football as long as possible to give his players actual chances to get open down the field, and he is already one of the most mobile, athletic scrambling quarterbacks in the league. I think he was what? Either #2 or #3 in yards per game when it came came to running the football. And Matt, that was without a single designed run last season. So I just can't wait for Josh McDaniels to add that into his bag. What Josh McDaniels did with Cam Newton during, you know, that final season basically in the league that he had as a full-time starter, and, uh, just build an offense around the strengths of what Drake May brings because, uh, I, I am obsessed with Drake May as a prospect in the league. I'm also very excited about Drake May. He's a great pick at QB 16, even if he doesn't take a leap. Again, I think the rushing ability for May is still very understated, will make him a great fantasy quarterback. Close

Are fantasy managers chasing the ‘ghost' of Patrick Mahomes?
Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Matt Harmon and Rich Hribar of Sharp Football discuss the Chiefs quarterback's declining fantasy numbers and why - despite being the game's top signal caller - he may not be able to produce the monster stats that managers are used to. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript He hasn't been good throwing down the field; some of the plays that we talked about, Xavier Worthy were on Mahomes. Like, yeah, 100%. So, like, when you look at Mahomes' downfield passing the past two years, he's been horrendous; he's been at the bottom of the league, like, in throws over 10 yards downfield in terms of accuracy. And like, that's not the player that he was early in his career, but what if we are always constantly chasing that ghost with Patrick Mahomes, right? And Patrick Mahomes, from a talent perspective, I mean, I'm not tearing down Patrick Mahomes as a player, he's QB1 in the NFL by a mile. Like, think of all the issues the Chiefs have had in reality, and he's still going to the Super Bowl every year. Like, I'm talking about just from like a fantasy upside stance. What if we're consistently chasing attachment to prime Tyreek Hill and prime Travis Kelce and we just never have that intersection again? 100%, yeah, I like that; to me, that just can't be true, right? Like, it can't be what happens, but if you look, just look at explosive play rate, the last two seasons. It goes, Patriots right from the bottom, Patriots, Raiders, Giants, Jets, Panthers, Browns, Chiefs, like that's the category the Kansas City Chiefs are keeping, and yet that is, that's where it's been. And it felt like that. Like they saw man coverage at one of the highest rates in the NFL last year, like teams weren't scared of their receivers, you know, and maybe that changes, like you said, if worthy is the lid lifter, and you get more, but the middle of the field open stuff is actually decreased. They're one of the teams that were kind of at the forefront of why this all started, and now it's ironically like they're struggling to beat the, where we're back to square one; they're struggling to beat the stuff that we want the offenses to get, and until that happens, I mean, we're, we'll continue to see those issues. And I do think that it's a question mark, because Xavier Worthy, as fast as a football player he is, he had these issues in Texas, like winning one-on-one downfield. In a straight line, he's faster than everyone, but like route nuance and beating press, like, this is something he has not answered as a player yet. He has not answered these things. Close

Will Cam Ward's arrival boost Calvin Ridley's fantasy value?
Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Matt Harmon and Rich Hribar of Sharp Football discuss how the Titans wide receiver could be impacted by the top overall pick taking over the starting quarterback job in Tennessee. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript If Cam Ward can give us an impression of what Jayden Daniels did last year, not obviously to that degree, the Titans are not going to the AFC Championship or something like that, but if he can come in and be a good passer as a rookie, could Ridley have a 2024 Terry McLaurin type of season? Yeah, you bring up the deployment stuff with him, and that's what we need to change more than the Cam Ward stuff, because it's easy to just look at Terry McLaurin last year, Justin Jefferson last year, and Neo Collins the year before that and say, hey, we know the upside potential with this. The rookie quarterback is just getting, you know, not terrible quarterback play, and you know, that transition and what it can do for a player. Um, but yeah, we need Brian Callahan to use Calvin Ridley in a different capacity than he did last year. I mean, almost 16 air yards per target. Like we talked about this with Marvin Harrison when you came on my show, it's like the free square stuff is is relevant in today's NFL and the way you're playing offense, and we'd love to see them get a little more creative with Calvin Ridley. When you don't get the free squares, right? Uh, what it does is it creates a huge, significant gap in terms of the way you're used based on how NFL teams are playing coverage, right? And that's what happened to Calvin Ridley last year. He was targeted on 32% of his routes against man coverage. That was ninth among all wide receivers. He's still winning one on one. Like, when you look at 3 yards per route against man coverage, that was wide receiver five on the season. He's still winning one on one, but then against zone coverage, 18.6% target rate per route drops to wide receiver 45. He's not doing any of that free square stuff. And that's what we need to see incorporated. But I do like the potential of him, you know, at cost, you know, even if he's the same player that he was, I think Cam Ward facilitates that deep ball a lot better than Will Levis did. But we do need Brian Callahan to kind of wake up. Close
